This summer, three festivals transform Europe into an epic musical playground. From a medieval Transylvanian castle to an island floating on the Danube and the royal gardens at the gates of Paris, Electric Castle, Sziget and Rock en Seine 2026 follow one another without ever overlapping — offering one of the most unforgettable festival trails a music lover could dream of. Here’s your complete guide before you buy your ticket.

Founded in 2013 on the grounds of the 15th-century Bánffy Castle, Electric Castle is far more than a music festival: it’s a time-suspended experience between baroque ruins and electronic art installations. Winner of the « International Festival of the Year » at the UK Festival Awards, it attracts over 274,000 festivalgoers from around the world each year. According to Wikipedia, it has won the Best Medium-Sized Festival award at the European Festival Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you buy last-minute tickets for all 3 festivals?

Early bird tickets offer the best savings and often sell in phases with rising prices. According to the Indie Campers guide, Sziget tickets, accommodation and campervans sell « incredibly fast ». Start planning as soon as tickets go on sale to avoid missing out.

Is there official camping at Rock en Seine?

No. Unlike Electric Castle and Sziget, Rock en Seine has no on-site camping. As the festival is at the gates of Paris, festivalgoers stay in hotels, Airbnbs or hostels in the Paris region. The site is a 5-minute walk from the nearest Metro station (Boulogne – Pont de Saint-Cloud, line 10).

How do you get to Electric Castle from the UK or France?

According to Romanian Friend, Cluj-Napoca is well connected to major European cities via low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Wizz Air, Transavia from Paris, London, etc.). Expect 2–4 hours’ flight time and €50–150 return if booked in advance. Festival shuttle buses run 24/7 between Cluj and Bonțida (30 km).

Are the 3 festivals family-friendly?

Sziget is family-friendly: children under 11 enter free and a special Family Camping area is available. Electric Castle is open to all ages with a secure festive atmosphere. Rock en Seine also welcomes younger audiences through its New Talents stage and the family-friendly setting of the Domaine de Saint-Cloud.

How does cashless payment work at these festivals?

All 3 festivals use cashless systems. At Sziget, the event is strictly digital with mandatory identity check-in via the official app (Hungarian legal requirement). At Rock en Seine, cashless is the standard. At Electric Castle, wristband-wallets are issued at the entrance. Top up your account on arrival to avoid queues.

What’s the difference in atmosphere between the 3 festivals?

Electric Castle offers a mystical and intimate atmosphere, suspended between a medieval castle and all-night raves — from sunrise yoga sessions to techno sets amid baroque ruins. Sziget is the great cosmopolitan world village, a melting pot of 100 nationalities in a floating utopian bubble. Rock en Seine embodies Parisian elegance: a rock festival in a historic royal setting, with the City of Light just 20 minutes away.

Do The Cure play at both Electric Castle and Rock en Seine?

Yes! The Cure are confirmed at both Electric Castle (16–19 July, Romania) and Rock en Seine (30 August, Paris) where they close the festival. This is one of the notable highlights of summer 2026: Robert Smith’s band offers two performances in two different countries a month apart.
