Resurrection Fest 2026 runs from 1–4 July in Viveiro, on Spain’s Galician coast, with over 100 acts including Iron Maiden, Limp Bizkit and Sabaton. The 4-day pass is €235 on resurrectionfest.es; Thursday (€119, Iron Maiden) and Friday (€99, Limp Bizkit) day tickets are sold out. For UK fans, the best route is a direct flight from London Gatwick or Heathrow to Santiago de Compostela (from £46), then a 110 km drive to Viveiro. Iron Maiden have confirmed a full touring break until at least 2028 after this run — Viveiro is one of the last chances to catch them live in Europe.

Viveiro has 15,000 residents, medieval walls and sweeping views of the Cantabrian Sea. Every summer since 2006, this small Galician town sees its population multiply fivefold as the global metal community — from the UK, Germany, the US and beyond — descends for four days of heavy music. The 2026 edition (Chapter XXI, « A Place Called Home ») is the festival’s 21st, confirming Resurrection Fest’s place among Europe’s top ten rock and metal events, with Iron Maiden headlining Thursday night.

Resurrection Fest Estrella Galicia

From €89 (day ticket) 4 days (1–4 July 2026) 20–23 °C daytime, 16–18 °C at night 8.7 hours of sunshine/day in July

Founded in August 2006 as « Viveiro Summer Fest » with free, council-funded gigs, the festival adopted its current name in November 2006 after a standout debut. According to Wikipedia, it expanded to three days in 2010 and four in 2015. The 20th edition in 2025 set an all-time attendance record of 141,376 festivalgoers from more than 40 countries, generating a €30 million economic impact for Lugo province, according to metalhammer.es.

The festival site is the Recinto Resgal (Campo de Fútbol de Celeiro), at Av. Ramón Canosa, 3, 27863 Viveiro, on the edge of the Ría de Viveiro. Four stages share the lineup: the Main Stage (headliners), Ritual Stage (extreme metal), Chaos Stage (hardcore, punk) and Desert Stage (stoner, doom, band contests). The festival generates more than 1,500 direct jobs and 4,000 indirect jobs across the Lugo region, per elprogreso.es.

Highlights

  • Over 200 acts have played since 2006 — Slayer, Rammstein, Kiss, Korn, Slipknot and more
  • Google rating of 4.8/5 from 2,492 reviews — among the best festival scores in Europe
  • Viveiro, officially nicknamed « Ciudad del Rock », sits minutes from Cantabrian beaches with a well-preserved medieval centre
Pixidia tip: The 2026 theme, « A Place Called Home », frames Resurrection Fest as a community gathering as much as a music event. Aim to arrive on Tuesday evening to set up camp before the Wednesday rush — the only fast access road (A-8) backs up from Wednesday morning onwards.

2. Day-by-day programme: 100 artists across 4 stages

Wednesday 1 July: Sabaton headlines

The opening night kicks off with A Day To Remember (21:50) on the Main Stage, before Sabaton close as headliners from midnight to 01:50. Testament close out the Ritual Stage from 01:50 to 03:00. According to the official timetables published by mariskalrock.com, Man With A Mission plays early evening on the Main Stage, with Annisokay at 15:25. Wednesday day tickets are available at €89.

Thursday 2 July: Iron Maiden — the event of the tour

Iron Maiden take the Main Stage from 20:50 to 23:00 — a two-hour-ten set. The « Run For Your Lives » tour celebrates the band’s 50th anniversary (founded 25 December 1975 by Steve Harris) with a setlist drawn from their first nine albums. The tour’s standout moment: « Infinite Dreams » performed live for the first time in 38 years. According to nuclearblast.com, the band’s late-2026 Japanese dates will be their last before a break until at least 2028. Viveiro is one of only two Iron Maiden shows in Spain this year. Thursday day tickets (€119) are sold out — the 4-day pass (€235) is the only option.

Anthrax (00:20) and Feuerschwanz (02:25) round out the night on the Main Stage. Caliban and Witch Club Satan follow on the Ritual Stage. Angelus Apatrida, Spain’s flagship thrash metal act, play at 18:30 — one of the most anticipated slots for local fans.

Friday 3 July: Limp Bizkit and Cavalera Conspiracy

Trivium warm up the night from 20:50. Limp Bizkit headline from 23:10 to 00:30 in their only Spanish festival appearance of 2026. Original bassist Sam Rivers passed away on 18 October 2025 at age 48; the band continues with Richie Buxton. Friday day tickets (€99) are sold out. Closing the night at 01:25, the Cavalera Conspiracy brothers will perform Sepultura’s « Chaos A.D. » in full to mark the album’s 33rd anniversary, as confirmed by the festival’s official account. The Rasmus and Bleed From Within complete the night’s bill.

Saturday 4 July: Mastodon and Marilyn Manson

Mastodon take the Main Stage at 21:55. Marilyn Manson headlines from 00:30 to 02:00 in their first-ever Resurrection Fest appearance. Manson’s presence has generated discussion: in 2025, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office dropped criminal charges against him (statute of limitations and insufficient evidence, per Rolling Stone), though civil proceedings remain ongoing. Saturday day tickets are available at €99. P.O.D., Imminence, Blood Incantation (02:10, Ritual Stage) and Converge (23:10, Chaos Stage) round out a packed closing night.

Pixidia tip: For Iron Maiden, the 4-day pass (€235) is your only remaining option. On the secondary market, only TicketSwap is recognised by the organisers. Any tickets via Viagogo or StubHub carry a real risk of being invalid — issues flagged at previous editions.

3. Viveiro — a medieval town on the Galician ría

Viveiro: 15,000 residents, ten centuries of history

Lugo Province, Galicia Ría de Viveiro, Cantabrian Sea Covas Beach (Blue Flag, 2 km) Conjunto Histórico-Artístico

Capital of the comarca A Mariña Occidental, Viveiro was granted city status in 1891. Galicia is one of Spain’s most underrated regions — rich in natural heritage and outstanding gastronomy, yet far less overrun than the Mediterranean coast. Its historic centre, listed as a Conjunto Histórico-Artístico, contains some of the finest preserved medieval stonework in all of Galicia. According to turismo.gal, the Porta de Carlos V (1548, Plateresque style, listed as a National Monument in 1942) bears the coats of arms of Charles V, the Kingdom of Galicia and the city itself. The Convent of San Francisco (14th century) houses a sacred art museum, and the Iglesia de Santa María is a fine example of understated Gothic architecture.

The beaches are under 4 km from the festival site: Playa de Covas (1.5 km of sand, Blue Flag) and Playa de Area (a wide beach backed by mountains). The coastal path O Fuciño do Porco — a wooden walkway above the cliffs — makes for a spectacular pre-festival hike.

Highlights

  • Porta de Carlos V (1548) — a Renaissance gem, listed National Monument
  • Pulpo a feira, percebes, mariscada: Galician cuisine ranks among Spain’s very best
  • Blue Flag beaches under 4 km away, plus the clifftop O Fuciño do Porco trail
Pixidia tip: Old town restaurants serve pulpo a feira (paprika-dressed octopus) and percebes (goose barnacles) throughout festival week. Book a table the evening before for Wednesday and Thursday nights — quieter than the weekend.

The festival offers several accommodation formats, per resurrectionfest.es:

  • ResuCamp (official, paid): €99/pitch for 2 people, hot showers, 24-hour security, shuttle bus. Opens Wednesday 1 July at 09:00.
  • Free Camping Zone A (Parque de Pernas Peón, Covas): free with a pass, roughly 40 minutes’ walk from the site. Facilities included.
  • Free Camping Zone B (Mirador de San Roque): free, ideal for campervans, panoramic views of the ría.
  • Hotels in Viveiro: €110–€350/night during the festival — book six months ahead as rooms fill fast. Hotel Viveiro (3*, 800 m) and Hotel Urban Viveiro (3*, 1 km) are the most convenient.
  • Hotels in Foz and Burela (20–30 km away): often cheaper, with organised transfers to the festival — worth considering if Viveiro itself is fully booked.

Getting to Viveiro from the UK

Viveiro has no high-speed rail connection. The most practical route for UK festival-goers is a direct flight to Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), 110 km away — about 1 hour 15 by car. Vueling, British Airways and Iberia operate direct routes from London Gatwick (from £46) and London Heathrow (from £64), with a flight time of around 2 hours, according to Skyscanner. An alternative is flying to Bilbao (BIO) from London — cheaper at times — then driving the scenic A-8 coastal route westwards (roughly 3 hours). Compared to UK festivals like Download (Donington Park) or Bloodstock (Catton Hall), Resurrection Fest offers a similar heavy music experience with the bonus of a Galician seaside trip. Official Divertis en Vivo coaches serve the festival from 25+ Spanish cities, but there is no direct coach service from the UK.

Pixidia tip: Total budget for four days from the UK sits between roughly £550 (free camping + budget flight + self-catering) and £1,100 (ResuCamp + flights + comfortable meals). The 4-day pass (€235, approximately £200) is your fixed cost. Budget €100–€250 for food and drinks on site depending on how freely you spend.

5. Iron Maiden: 50 years, the final tour run and Viveiro

The « Run For Your Lives » tour (2025–2026)

Founded 25 December 1975 100 million albums sold 20:50–23:00, Thursday 2 July Touring break until 2028 minimum

The « Run For Your Lives » tour marks Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary with a setlist drawn from their first nine albums (1980–1992). For anyone planning a trip around a European metal festival, Viveiro’s logistics reward advance planning by several months. Steve Harris — the band’s sole founding member — told Louder Sound: « It’s pretty incredible when you think about it, but we don’t think about it too much. We’ve not got too many years left so every gig is sacred. » The setlist includes one genuinely rare moment: « Infinite Dreams », not performed live in 38 years.

According to ironmaiden.com, the late-2026 Japanese dates will be « the very last shows the band will play until at least 2028, as they take a well-earned break from being on the road. » In Spain, the band play only twice: Viveiro on 2 July, then Rock Imperium Festival in Cartagena on 4 July. If you want to see Iron Maiden in Europe before this break, Viveiro is it — there are no UK dates on this tour run.

Iron Maiden have played Resurrection Fest before, and their return for the 2026 edition during the band’s 50th year feels like a genuinely landmark moment. « The Number of the Beast » (1982), with nearly 20 million copies sold, sits in the setlists alongside classics like « Run to the Hills », « The Trooper » and « Hallowed Be Thy Name. »

Highlights

  • Last European tour run before a confirmed break until at least 2028 — no UK dates on this leg
  • Setlist drawn from the first nine albums, with « Infinite Dreams » played live for the first time in 38 years
  • Only two shows in Spain in 2026: Viveiro and Cartagena
Pixidia tip: Getting into Viveiro for Iron Maiden requires the 4-day pass (€235) since Thursday day tickets are gone. Given the context — farewell tour run, 50th anniversary — that price is fair. Arrive around 18:00 to catch Angelus Apatrida before the headliner.

From Santiago, hire a car for the 110 km drive to Viveiro (about 1 hour 15). Alternatively, fly to Bilbao (BIO) and drive the scenic A-8 westwards (roughly 3 hours). Will Iron Maiden tour Europe again after Viveiro 2026?

Viveiro (2 July) and Rock Imperium Festival in Cartagena (4 July) are the only two Spanish shows on this tour. The paid ResuCamp (€99/pitch for 2 people) offers a shuttle bus and closer proximity to the site.

What’s the weather like at Viveiro during the festival in early July?

July is Viveiro’s driest month — temperatures run 20–23 °C during the day, dropping to 16–18 °C at night, with around 8.7 hours of sunshine per day, per weather-and-climate.com. Conditions are generally ideal for an outdoor festival, though a light jacket and a compact waterproof are worth packing — Galicia can surprise you with a passing shower.

How do payments work at Resurrection Fest?

The festival operates a fully cashless system. An NFC wristband activated at entry handles all purchases on site (drinks, food, merchandise). Top it up online before the event or at kiosks on site. Any remaining balance is refunded after the festival. Bring a bank card or cash for spending outside the site (Viveiro restaurants, transport, taxis).
