What to do in Las Vegas between F1 GP 2026 sessions? The Grand Prix runs at night from 19-21 November 2026, leaving mornings and afternoons free. Highlights: a Grand Canyon helicopter tour (2h30), kayaking on the Colorado River (3h30), wine tasting in Pahrump Valley (5h), or a mind-reading show at Harrah’s (1h15). Our pick covers 8 activities all rated 4.85+/5 on Viator, from EUR 54 to EUR 415, making the most of every moment off the track.

I went straight to the right questions for you: the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is in November 2026, on the Strip, and crucially — at night. Practice sessions start at 4.30 pm, the race gets under way at 8 pm, leaving mornings and early afternoons completely free, not to mention the day after the race. I have selected eight Viator experiences that turn this downtime into a proper parallel programme: flying over the Grand Canyon by helicopter before the first corners, paddling through Colorado River canyons before qualifying, or discovering Nevada’s vineyards the day after the race.

What makes the 2026 edition special? The entire GP runs after dark beneath the Strip’s neon lights — a spectacle in its own right. But it also means evening temperatures drop to 5-10 °C in November. During the day, the thermometer reaches 15-20 °C, perfect for outdoor activities. My tip: arrive as early as Wednesday 18 November to enjoy a full day of excursions before practice begins.

The Grand Canyon helicopter tour is my favourite: the region’s most iconic activity, with 2,679 reviews and a 4.85/5 rating. But depending on your schedule and budget, options range from a EUR 65 kayak trip to a gourmet food tour on the Strip. Here is my full selection.

My top pick: the Grand Canyon helicopter tour — 2,679 5-star reviews, 2h30 flight over the Canyon before the first corners.

F1 Las Vegas 2026: a night-time weekend that frees your days

The Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026 takes place from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 November on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, a 6.2 km urban track featuring 17 corners along the city’s most famous thoroughfares [Formula 1]. A unique feature on the calendar: the entire weekend runs after dark under the Strip lights.

The schedule is built for television, but it offers a rare opportunity for on-site spectators: Practice 1 and 2 begin at 4.30 pm and 8 pm on Thursday, qualifying at 8 pm on Friday, and the race at 8 pm on Saturday. The result? Entire mornings and early afternoons are free. Grand Prix Plaza, which reopened in 2026 with F1 X (interactive 4D exhibition), F1 DRIVE (electric karting) and F1 HUB (simulators), fills part of that time — but this guide focuses on what is outside the F1 perimeter [F1 Las Vegas GP Official].

With jet lag (European spectators will see the race at around 5 am CET), visitors flying in from Europe should make the most of their days on the ground. The 8 activities below are handpicked for their ratings (all 4.85+/5), their accessibility from the Strip, and their fit within the GP weekend’s free slots. 3. Emerald Cave kayak — a morning on the Colorado before qualifying

Rating 4.99 (527 reviews) 3h30 From EUR 65 Instant confirmation

The best value-for-money in this selection. 45 minutes from the Strip, near Willow Beach in Arizona, you paddle the calm waters of the Colorado River to Emerald Cave — a shallow cavity where mineral-refracted light turns the water a fluorescent green. The excursion is self-guided: you set your own pace, with no group constraints. In November, temperatures are pleasant (15-20 °C during the day) and crowds are smaller. Depart around 8-9 am, back by 12-1 pm — perfect to be fresh for the afternoon’s qualifying session.

You love precision, competition and total focus? F1 fans are naturally drawn to sport shooting. A certified instructor guides you through 4 different weapons (9 mm, AR-15, sniper rifle, shotgun) with a minimum of 61 rounds per person. The group is limited to 8 participants. Ideal for Friday afternoon before qualifying: the adrenaline hits just like the track.

6. Wine tasting in Pahrump Valley — the antidote to GP intensity

Rating 4.98 (145 reviews) ~5h From EUR 127 Instant confirmation

The roar of the engines, the crowd’s decibels, the constant excitement — the F1 GP is an intense sensory experience. Pahrump Valley, 1 hour away across the Spring Mountains, offers the opposite: the calm of Nevada’s vineyards, a guided tasting of 8 locally produced wines, and charcuterie boards and artisanal pizzas to accompany them. Desert wines have a unique character thanks to the arid climate and limestone soil. Departure from the Harley-Davidson parking lot on the Strip, returning around 4 pm. Perfect for Sunday post-race or Wednesday pre-GP.

  • Guided tasting of 8 Nevada wines
  • Charcuterie boards and artisanal pizzas included
  • Scenic drive through the Spring Mountains

The guide offers 4 to 5 carefully selected tastings from the Strip’s best-kept culinary secrets: international cuisine, gourmet street food, signature desserts. Each stop comes with anecdotes about Las Vegas history and insider tips. All stops are directly on the F1 track, within walking distance of the grandstands.

Practical tips for F1 Las Vegas GP weekend

Neon signs on the Las Vegas Strip at night
Photo by Florian Schindler on Unsplash

Attire: In November, Las Vegas days are mild (15-20 °C) but nights are chilly (5-10 °C). The track grandstands are elevated and exposed to the wind: pack a warm jacket, beanie and scarf for the evening sessions. Comfortable walking shoes are essential — you will cover a lot of ground on the Strip.

Transport: The Las Vegas Monorail is the most reliable way to bypass road closures during the GP (7 stations, 15 min end to end, running until 2 am). Free trams connect certain hotels (Aria Express, Mandalay Tram). The Strip roads are partially closed from 1 pm on race days. Allow extra travel time.

Bookings: The Viator activities in this selection fill up fast during GP week. Book at least 2-3 weeks ahead, ideally as soon as you have your F1 ticket. Most offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

When to arrive: Arrive Wednesday 18 November for a full excursion day (Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon) before practice begins. Leave Sunday 22 or Monday 23 November to enjoy the post-race Sunday. Black Friday falls on Saturday 21 November — a bonus shopping opportunity. To build your complete itinerary, use our Pixidia travel planner.

Frequently asked questions

What activities can I do on GP race day between sessions?

It depends on your ticket. With a day ticket (afternoon and evening sessions), the Emerald Cave kayak (3h30, back by 12-1 pm) or the Hoover Dam eBike tour (2-3h) are perfect for the morning. With a night-session-only ticket (race at 8 pm), you have the whole day: go for the Pahrump Valley wine tour (5h, back by 4 pm) or the Strip food tour (2h). The eBike tour is the most flexible short option. Find more activity ideas on our Discover page.

Should I rent a car in Las Vegas during the F1 GP?

Not necessarily. The Las Vegas Monorail and free hotel trams cover the Strip well enough. During the GP, road closures make a car more of a hassle than a help for track-area travel. For excursions outside the city (Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Pahrump Valley), most Viator tours include hotel pickup. If you plan several independent road trips, renting via Localrent could be an option.

How many days should I plan for the F1 Las Vegas GP?

The minimum is 4 nights (Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 November). That lets you arrive the day before practice starts, enjoy a full excursion on Wednesday or Thursday morning, attend all 3 race days, and leave Sunday after the race. For the keen, 5 nights (Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22) gives you an extra day for the Grand Canyon or Valley of Fire. Monday 23 November is also worth considering if you want to enjoy post-race Sunday and Black Friday (21 November).

Can I see the F1 track from the Viator activities?

Not directly within the listed activities, but some offer spectacular aerial views. The Grand Canyon helicopter tour flies over the Strip on the return leg — you will see the track lit up from the air if you choose an evening flight. The Strip food tour (card #7) passes several hotels that border the circuit, including Bellagio and Cosmopolitan. Otherwise, the point is to disconnect from the circuit during your free time — the GP is intense enough when you are there.

What budget should I allow for off-track activities during the GP?

Expect to spend between EUR 300 and EUR 800 for 3-4 activities across your stay. The kayak (card #3 at EUR 65) and the food tour (card #7 at EUR 81) are the most accessible options. The Colin Cloud show (card #8 at EUR 54) is the cheapest entertainment. The Grand Canyon helicopter (card #1 at EUR 415) and the private Valley of Fire tour (card #2 at EUR 148) are the premium choices. Most activities offer free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead — you can book risk-free.
