The Tour de Ski 2027 runs from 1 to 10 January 2027 over eight stages in three countries. Les Rousses (France) hosts the first three, Oberstdorf (Germany) stages 4 and 5 on the provisional FIS calendar, and Val di Fiemme (Italy) the last three, ending with the Alpe Cermis final climb on 10 January.
Checked on against the sources cited (FIS, the event organisers).
The Tour de Ski is the big cross-country skiing series of the end of the year, and its 21st edition opens with a first: a stage in France. This guide gives the programme of all eight stages, the published ticket prices, how to reach each venue, and the points the official pages do not settle yet. Start times are indicative, and the Oberstdorf dates remain provisional.
1. The programme of the eight stages
The Tour de Ski 2027 has eight stages. Three take place in Les Rousses, in the French Jura, from 1 to 3 January. Two are held in Oberstdorf, Germany, on 5 and 6 January, in the provisional FIS calendar. The last three are raced in Val di Fiemme, Italy, from 8 to 10 January, and the Alpe Cermis final climb closes the event.
The status of the dates varies by venue. Those in Les Rousses and Val di Fiemme are confirmed by the organisers. Those in Oberstdorf appear in a draft calendar that the FIS is submitting to its Council for approval: they could still change.

2. Val di Fiemme: the historic heart and the final climb

Val di Fiemme, Dolomites (Italy)
Val di Fiemme has featured in every edition of the Tour de Ski since 2006-2007, according to the organiser Fiemme World Cup. For 2027, the valley hosts the last three stages, and this is where the event ends.
Stages 6 and 7 are raced at Lago di Tesero, the competition venue: the 15 km skiathlon on Friday 8 January, then the freestyle sprint on Saturday 9. On Sunday 10 January, the Alpe Cermis final climb, a 10 km mass start, closes the Tour. The organiser’s programme gives starts at 12:35 pm for the men and 3:40 pm for the women: these times are indicative. An undated tourist listing gives other times, 2:15 pm and 3:30 pm, which are not retained here as they are unconfirmed.
Highlights
- A cross-country stadium on the shore of Lago di Tesero for stages 6 and 7.
- The Alpe Cermis climb, by cable car from Cavalese, up to the upper station above 2,000 m.
- Races the organiser presents as free, with a VIP lounge that costs money, price not published.
This is not a Tour de Ski race: it is a private winter outing from Bolzano. Who it suits: a traveller who wants a winter outing away from the stadiums, with a snowshoe hike and a sledging experience in the Dolomites. It starts in Bolzano, not in the valley. Watch out: availability is not guaranteed across the whole period, so check the day you pick before you book.
Getting there. Trentino Trasporti buses link Trento, Ora and Cavalese. Timetables are published for 10 September 2026 to 25 June 2027: check this document before you book, because the frequencies quoted by aggregator sites are not reliable. Between Ora and Cavalese the journey takes about 45 minutes. From Bolzano airport, allow about 1 hour 30 minutes to Tesero, according to an operator estimate.
The Alpe Cermis climb. The cable car leaves from the centre of Cavalese and changes at Doss dei Laresi. Allow about twenty minutes to reach the upper station, at 2,000 m, according to an undated tourist source. The same source mentions a large free car park at the foot of the lift.
3. Les Rousses: the first French stage

Les Rousses, Jura (France)
The Stade nordique des Tuffes, in Prémanon, hosts the first three stages of the Tour de Ski, from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January. The FIS presents this stage as the first French stage in the event’s history. The venue is not new to cross-country skiing: the resort already hosted a World Cup in 2025.
Highlights
- Three days of racing on a single pass: €24 for two days, €32 for all three.
- Free entry for children under 10, born in 2016 or later.
- A family resort, with 220 km of cross-country trails according to its website.
The ticket details are in the table below. Tickets are sold on the local organiser’s website, which also offers club rates on request. Before you buy, check the organiser’s ticket page for the opening date of general sale: none of the official pages we consulted confirms it.
| Option | Public price | Club or fan club rate | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day ticket | €15 | €10 | One day of racing |
| 2-day pass | €24 | €18 | Choice of 1 and 2, 2 and 3, or 1 and 3 January |
| 3-day pass | €32 | €27 | All three days, 1 to 3 January |
| Child under 10 (born in 2016 or later) | Free | Not applicable | Free entry confirmed by the ticket office |

Getting to Les Rousses without a car
The resort has no railway station. The gateways are Dijon and Dole, by TGV, then the official shuttle on Saturdays, or Morez, by TER, about 8 km from the resort. The official shuttle must be booked at least 96 hours in advance and only runs on Saturdays: there is no official shuttle on Friday 1 or Sunday 3 January. From Geneva Airport, about 47 km away, we found no direct bus: one aggregator mentions about 40 minutes by car, to be checked.
| Starting point | Distance or journey time | Mode | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| TGV Dijon | About 150 km | Train, then shuttle | Shuttle on Saturdays in winter |
| TGV Dole | About 110 km | Train, then shuttle | Shuttle on Saturdays in winter |
| TER Morez | About 8 km | Shuttle | Shuttle on Saturdays in winter |
| Geneva Airport | About 47 km, about 40 min by car | Car or taxi | No direct link found |
| Lyon Part-Dieu | About 2 hr 55 min to Morez | Bus | Once a week, according to an aggregator |
Sources: lesrousses.com, Tour de Ski page (shuttle, booking), SNCF Connect, Jura resorts guide (November 2024, to be reconfirmed). The times for Geneva and Lyon come from unofficial aggregator sites, consulted on 5 November 2026.
4. Oberstdorf: two stages on the provisional FIS calendar
Oberstdorf, Germany
Oberstdorf hosts two stages in the FIS provisional calendar. The draft is submitted for approval by the FIS Council. At the date of consultation, no official Oberstdorf page for 2027 had been published, and we found neither a timetable nor prices for these two races.
What is planned
- Tuesday 5 January: 15 km classic mass start.
- Wednesday 6 January: 5 km freestyle heat mass start, in heats of 20 to 25 skiers per gender.
- The Ried cross-country stadium sits at the foot of the Schattenbergschanze, the resort’s ski jump.
From Munich, the train takes about 2 hr 30 min, with a change at Immenstadt according to aggregator sites. By car, the trip is 168 km, about 2 hr 7 min without traffic according to the German motoring club ADAC. The Oybele Halle car park is about 600 m from the ski jump, with a shuttle to the cross-country stadium from the station. The car park and the shuttle come from the organiser’s 2020 programme and its 2024 mediaguide: they still need to be confirmed for 2027.
Watch out for the confusion: Oberstdorf is also the starting point of the Four Hills Tournament, a ski jumping event. According to a German tourism site, the Tournament finishes in Bischofshofen on 5 and 6 January. These are not the same competitions.
5. Budget: what is priced and what isn’t
Only one item has a precise published price: tickets for Les Rousses, from €15 at the public rate. Val di Fiemme advertises free races, with no figure for the VIP area. Oberstdorf has published no price. For everything else, we found no reliable rate for January 2027.
The accommodation prices we came across are undated or refer to other years, and some are quoted in zloty. We have not used them. No Trentino Trasporti bus fare is published in the sources we read. Your budget is therefore built item by item:
- Tickets. Les Rousses: €15 for a day, €24 for two days, €32 for three days, or €10, €18 and €27 at club rates on request. Val di Fiemme: the organiser presents entry to the races as free, to be reconfirmed for 2027; the VIP lounge is paid, price not published. Oberstdorf: nothing published.
- Transport. Train to Dijon, Dole or Morez for Les Rousses; bus between Trento, Ora and Cavalese for Val di Fiemme; train from Munich for Oberstdorf. Fares are not published in the sources we consulted.
- Accommodation. Apartments and chalets in Les Rousses are listed on the Jura tourist office portal, with no weekly rate found (consulted on 5 November 2026).
- Food and equipment. Your own cost, with no price reference in the sources consulted.
To save money, compare the number of days. Two single-day tickets cost €30, against €24 for the two-day pass; three single-day tickets cost €45, against €32 for the three-day pass. Calculated from the organiser’s published public prices. Children under 10 pay nothing in Les Rousses, which changes the sums for a family.
6. A typical weekend in Les Rousses, then Val di Fiemme
The three days in Les Rousses fit into a long weekend. The times below come from the resort’s page, consulted on 5 November 2026. They are indicative and should be confirmed before you travel.
- Friday 1 January. Classic sprint: qualifying around 11:45 am, finals around 2:15 pm. No official shuttle that day.
- Saturday 2 January. 20 km classic mass start: start at 10:15 am for the women, 2:15 pm for the men. Official shuttle available.
- Sunday 3 January. 15 km freestyle pursuit: start at 1:15 pm for the women, 3:30 pm for the men. No official shuttle that day.
No source lists a transfer day between Les Rousses and Oberstdorf on 4 January.
For Val di Fiemme, the organiser’s programme gives the following times, again indicative. On Friday 8 January, the 15 km skiathlon starts at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:30 pm for the men. On Saturday 9, the freestyle sprint begins with qualifying at 12:30 pm, before the finals at 3:00 pm. On Sunday 10, the Alpe Cermis final climb starts at 12:35 pm for the men and 3:40 pm for the women.
7. Field tips and mistakes to avoid
- Pack warm boots. Trackside you will often be standing on packed snow. This is a field tip, with no official source.
- Check which areas you can reach on foot. On site, find out which spots are walkable before you settle in.
- Don’t confuse it with the Four Hills Tournament. Ski jumping and cross-country skiing share Oberstdorf at the same time of year, but they are two separate events, with separate programmes.
8. Depending on your profile
- Families. Children under 10, born in 2016 or later, get free entry in Les Rousses.
- Tight budget. The single-day ticket in Les Rousses, at €15, is the most affordable option. Val di Fiemme: the organiser presents the races as free, to be reconfirmed for 2027.
- First time. Val di Fiemme offers the end of the event, with the Alpe Cermis climb on Sunday 10 January. Les Rousses offers three days of racing in one resort, with a single pass for all three days.
- Cross-country fan. Oberstdorf offers the 5 km heat mass start, a format with heats of 20 to 25 skiers per gender, first held in Toblach in 2025.
- Reduced mobility. We found no accessibility information for the three venues. Write to the organiser before you book.
What other guides don’t tell you
- The calendar is not a decision. The FIS states that its 2026-2027 calendar is subject to approval by its Council. Some sites present it as official, which the FIS does not say. FIS, article of 11 May 2026 (consulted on 5 November 2026).
- The organiser presents entry to the Val di Fiemme races as free. The VIP lounge is paid, price not published. To be reconfirmed for 2027. Online answers mention access passes, whereas the organiser describes the races as free entry and reserves paid access for the VIP area. Fiemme World Cup, VIP page (consulted on 5 November 2026).
- Les Rousses has three prices, not a single one. Guides talk about a ticket office with no amount. The organiser publishes €15, €24 and €32, club rates of €10, €18 and €27 on request, and free entry for children born in 2016 or later. Organiser’s ticket office (consulted on 5 November 2026).
- No TGV station at Bellegarde or Frasne for Les Rousses. Some answers cite these towns or Vallorbe. The useful stations are Dijon and Dole, by TGV, and Morez, by TER, where the shuttle departs. Les Rousses resort and SNCF Connect (consulted on 5 November 2026).
