For two adults, eight experiences from Beaune and nearby cost from $17 to $1,137 per person. Combined Viator and TripAdvisor ratings range from 4.73 to 5.0, and six experiences offer free cancellation. I recommend the group day to taste a lot for little, and the private tour for a tailor-made program.
Checked on against the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).
A grand cru is best understood on the slope where it grows, not only in a glass served at the table. From Beaune, the question is simple: can you, in one day, taste at estates and cellars without wasting time on the road? I went through Viator’s catalog for the town to answer, and kept what holds up on the window we checked, from November 19, 2026 to January 17, 2027.
Where you start matters. Beaune sits at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, and nearby Dijon serves as the pickup point for some private formats. The group program ends at the Château du Clos de Vougeot and passes the Romanée-Conti vineyard: the formats split even before the drive, between a group departure in Beaune and a hotel pickup.
There are two main families of experiences. The first is collective: the Burgundy Grand Crus Route brings together up to eight travelers, departs from the Beaune tourist office, boulevard Perpreuil, at 9:30 a.m. and runs through fourteen tastings at estates. The second is private: you share neither the vehicle nor the program with other travelers. In between, the catalog offers cellar visits in town, a sommelier tasting, a 2CV ride and a tasting visit at Villars-Fontaine, on the Côte de Nuits.
The threshold used is a combined Viator and TripAdvisor rating of at least 4.5, with at least 50 reviews. Among the Beaune products that clear this bar, thirteen exist: eight are open over the window we checked and within the topic, three are closed for the entire window, and two fall outside the theme (truffles, Fontenay abbey). I kept only the eight open ones.
Prices are per person, for two adults, checked on November 5, 2026 for departures between November 19, 2026 and January 17, 2027. They vary by date and number of travelers: each product’s listing is the reference when you book. Bookings are made on Viator’s site. Pixidia does not sell anything and does not book on your behalf.
Why Beaune for grands crus: the Pixidia angle
Beaune lies at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in the Côte-d’Or, and Dijon is its neighboring city. Only one product sets its meeting point in the Côte de Nuits, at Villars-Fontaine. The others leave from Beaune or pick you up at your hotel, and several programs cross both slopes.

The listings in this selection cite three levels of appellation: village, premier cru and grand cru. The Grand Crus Route offers village wines, premiers crus and a grand cru; the Maison Champy visit offers, depending on the option, a premier cru or a grand cru. The experiences in this selection let you compare in the glass rather than on paper.
Beaune serves as the base. Two products in the selection take place entirely in the town: the Maison Champy cellar visit and the sommelier tasting in the provider’s shop. Around the town, the 2CV ride crosses the Côte de Beaune, from Pommard to Puligny-Montrachet. The Château du Clos de Vougeot appears as a stop on the Grand Crus Route, without any mention of an inside visit.
Season matters as much as the route. Harvest is over during the period we checked, and the weather is cold, according to the Taste France guide. Group formats cap at eight travelers.
For access, everything depends on the format. The Grand Crus Route leaves from the Beaune tourist office. The three private formats with pickup collect travelers at their hotel, depending on accommodation: Dijon, Beaune or the Chagny area. This matters before choosing a format, because the meeting point is not always in Beaune. Access and site details are to be confirmed on the provider and tourist office listings, notably the Beaune Tourist Office.
Finally, price depends mostly on format. The gap comes from the fact that a private tour shares neither vehicle nor program with other travelers. It is up to you to decide whether you want time for yourself or a lower price.

The 8 experiences to book from Beaune and nearby

1. Burgundy Grand Crus Route: 14 tastings at the estates
This is the option I recommend if you want to taste a lot in a single day without driving. Departure is at 9:30 a.m. from the Beaune tourist office on boulevard Perpreuil, and the group never exceeds eight people. The program lists fourteen tastings at the estates, covering village appellations, premiers crus and a grand cru. The route stops at the Château du Clos de Vougeot and passes the Romanée-Conti vineyard. Lunch is not included, and pickup is not at your hotel, so you need to be at the Beaune meeting point. Cancellation is free, with a full refund up to 24 hours before departure; this rule applies to this option. The mistake to avoid is starting on an empty stomach. Fourteen glasses over eight and a half hours is manageable with a meal in you and water between each tasting. It is also the option with the most reviews in the selection, 289 so far.
- Fourteen tastings, from village appellation to grand cru
- Stop at the Château du Clos de Vougeot and passage by the Romanée-Conti vineyard
- Professional guide and air-conditioned minivan transport

2. Private excursion to the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, full day
This private excursion is the easiest choice among the custom tours. The day lasts seven and a half hours and includes two estate visits, with twelve wines, including four Grands Crus or Premiers Crus according to the product description. You don’t wait at a fixed point: pickup is at your accommodation, in the Chagny, Beaune or Dijon area, from 9:30 a.m. Transport is private, so you don’t share the vehicle or the program with other travelers. Its rating combines Viator and TripAdvisor: out of 178 reviews, 176 come from TripAdvisor. Lunch is not included: plan for it between two estates. Confirmation is not instant, your request is sent to the operator. The mistake to avoid is confusing this option with the longer tour from the same operator, described in card 4, which includes lunch and a prestige vehicle. For a discovery day with specific estates, this is the format I would choose first.
- Two estate visits and twelve wines, including Grands Crus and Premiers Crus
- Pickup at your accommodation (Chagny, Beaune, Dijon area)
- Mineral water and private transport included

3. Private full-day visit: 6 Premiers and Grands Crus
If your goal is to taste the most grands crus in a single day, this private visit is the one to pick. The program includes three estate tastings, with 15 to 20 wines including six Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, over a route of 125 to 150 km according to the listing. The day starts at 10 a.m. and ends around 5 p.m. Pickup is at your hotel, in Beaune or Dijon depending on where you stay: there is no fixed departure point, to be confirmed when you book. Lunch is included, with an optional gourmet upgrade subject to availability. The catch is cancellation: it is not free on this product, so read the terms before you confirm. It suits two people who want a full day and a balance between visits and meals. Keep a steady pace: even spread over three estates, 15 to 20 wines call for a well-timed lunch and plenty of water.
- Three estate tastings, 15 to 20 wines
- Lunch included, optional gourmet upgrade subject to availability
- Pickup at your hotel, in Beaune or Dijon

4. Luxury private Burgundy wine tour, in a prestige vehicle
This is the top-end option from the same operator as card 2. Where the previous excursion offers two estate visits, this one focuses on a tailor-made program, a prestige vehicle, lunch included and private tastings. The guide is a trained educator, certified and the author of two books on Burgundy wines. Pickup is at your hotel, from a list of places ranging from Dijon to Beaune, and the departure point is still to be confirmed with the operator. The price per person is the highest in the selection: compare it with card 2, allowing for the length, eight hours versus seven and a half, and for lunch. In the window we checked, this is the only option open on all 60 days: you can book without calendar constraints, with a confirmation that is not instant and a free cancellation.
- Prestige climate-controlled vehicle, bottled water and private transport
- Lunch included
- Certified guide, author of two books on Burgundy wines

5. Guided 3-hour tour by 2CV through the Côte de Beaune
For three hours, a guide-driver takes you through the Côte de Beaune in a 2CV, from Pommard to Puligny-Montrachet, with a stop along the way and a tasting of five wines at an estate. The listing also mentions a barrel cellar visit, outside harvest season. The meeting point is in front of the Porte Marie de Bourgogne tourist office, boulevard circulaire, in Beaune: it is not the Perpreuil boulevard office from card 1. The real catch is the date: in the window we checked, this product opens on only eleven days, all between November 19 and 30. Confirmation is not instant and cancellation is not free. If you want this drive, fix your date first and build the rest of your stay around it. It is the most memorable format in the lineup, and also the most constrained.
- From Pommard to Puligny-Montrachet, in a 2CV with a guide-driver
- Tasting of five wines at an estate
- Barrel cellar visit, outside harvest season

6. Private sommelier tasting in Beaune: seven Premiers and Grands Crus
This is one of two experiences in the selection that take place entirely in Beaune, along with the Maison Champy visit (card 7), and the only one that does not involve a road. For about one hour and forty-five minutes, you have a personal sommelier one-on-one, in the provider’s shop, with seven Premiers and Grands Crus, white and red, from different producers. The listing includes a tasting sheet and private parking on site. The format suits anyone without a car, anyone who prefers a focused tasting to a full day on the road, or anyone discovering appellations who wants to ask questions. The trap is expecting estate visits: here you taste in a shop, not in the cellar. To complete it, pair it with the Maison Champy cellar visit, in the same town.
- Seven Premiers and Grands Crus, white and red
- Tasting sheet provided
- Private parking on site

7. 15th-century cellars visit at Maison Champy, with tasting
The place matters as much as the wine. The 15th-century cellars of Maison Champy, in Beaune, are visited with a guide in about an hour and a half, and the tasting that follows is chosen from two levels. The Terroir option offers five wines including one Premier Cru; the Prestige option offers five wines including one Grand Cru. It is the second cheapest product in the selection, at $34 per person on a two-traveler basis, behind the Villars-Fontaine tasting visit. The group is shared and holds eight people at most. The listing does not say which option, Terroir or Prestige, the price covers: check the price of the one you pick when you book. The visit takes place in town itself, without a car, which makes it a good start before a longer format.
- Guided visit of the 15th-century cellars
- Choice between Terroir (one Premier Cru) and Prestige (one Grand Cru)
- Shared group, eight travelers maximum

8. Tasting visit and direct sales at the Villars-Fontaine estate
This is not a Beaune experience, and I say so clearly. The product is listed under Beaune in the Viator catalog, but the meeting point is at a family estate at the top of the village of Villars-Fontaine, four kilometers west of Nuits-Saint-Georges, on the Côte de Nuits. You will need to travel from Beaune to get there. The estate is in its second generation of winegrowers. The tasting visit lasts one hour, a drink is included, and the wines are sold direct, with prices listed in euros on the product page. It is the most affordable of the lot, at $17 per person. I put it last because it works as a stop: if you head to the Côte de Nuits for the day, it is the easiest to fit between two visits. The team’s advice is part of the visit.
- Family estate, second generation of winegrowers
- Direct sales, wine prices listed in euros on the product page
- Meeting point at Villars-Fontaine, not Beaune
Preparing your trip
The Grand Crus Route meets at the Beaune tourist office, boulevard Perpreuil, for a 9:30 a.m. departure. For private formats with pickup, give your hotel’s exact address when you book: the departure point depends on where you stay (Dijon, Beaune or the Chagny area), not on a fixed point.
The dates we checked run from November 19, 2026 to January 17, 2027. It is cold and the harvest is over: bring layers and comfortable shoes for the stops at the estates.
Prices are per person, for two travelers. They range from $17 for the Villars-Fontaine tasting visit to $1,137 for the luxury private tour. Lunch, when it is not included, is at your own expense.
Five of the eight experiences confirm right away. The other three, two private formats from the same operator and the 2CV ride, wait for validation. Six offer free cancellation. This is not the case for the six-cru private visit or the 2CV ride: read their terms before you book. For the group Grand Crus Route, the refund is full up to 24 hours before departure; this rule applies to that option only.
Practical tips on site
Start by deciding whether you want a group or a private tour, because this choice changes everything else. In a group, departure is fixed at 9:30 a.m. at the Beaune tourist office, boulevard Perpreuil, the transfer is by minivan, and you stop where the program plans. Privately, you set the pace, but you pay for comfort: $798 per person for a six-cru day, against $327 in a group for fourteen tastings over a longer day. Compare the number of wines and the timings before deciding, not only the price shown.
To taste without fatigue, eat before you leave and don’t rely on wine alone for lunch. Drink water between glasses, and don’t get back on the road after a tasting: if you drive, leave your vehicle in Beaune and choose a format with pickup. Fourteen or fifteen wines in one day is a lot, even when you spit.
The Château du Clos de Vougeot deserves a note. It is a stop on the Grand Crus Route, but the official sources I read do not agree on the terms of a visit on your own: Burgundy Tourism and the Beaune Tourist Office do not give the same information on opening hours and prices. I therefore do not repeat them here. Check directly with the château before you go, especially if you want to go in beyond the program.
For private formats with pickup, check before booking that your hotel is on the provider’s list: the departure point varies between Dijon, Beaune and the Chagny area. On site, ask the winegrower which plot he chose for your tasting: it is the most direct way to link the name of a climat to a wine.
Book early for short dates. The 2CV ride opens only eleven days in the window we checked, all between November 19 and 30, and other formats show fewer than fifty open days out of sixty. For all of them, availability can change: recheck the Viator listing before building your program around a specific date.
Finally, plan some walking in Beaune itself. You can combine a tasting in a sommelier’s shop and a cellar visit, the Maison Champy visit, in the same afternoon. Departures from Dijon and the Chagny area, however, mean a drive, which hotel pickup can cover depending on the format you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Which experience from Beaune is rated highest?
Ratings combine Viator and TripAdvisor. The luxury private tour in a prestige vehicle scores 5.0 out of 72 reviews, and the private excursion of seven and a half hours 4.99 out of 178 reviews, 176 of them from TripAdvisor. For a group format, the Burgundy Grand Crus Route gets 4.91 out of 289 reviews, the most reviews in the selection, departing from Beaune. See the listing.
How much does a tasting day from Beaune cost?
Checked prices range from $17 to $1,137 per person, for two travelers. The group day costs $327, the luxury tour $1,137. Shorter formats cost much less: $80 for the sommelier tasting, $34 for the Maison Champy cellar visit, $17 for the Villars-Fontaine tasting visit. These prices are from the November 5, 2026 check and may change depending on the date.
Should I choose a group or a private tour?
A group suits you if you want to taste a lot for a modest price: eight travelers maximum and fourteen tastings. Private suits you if you want to choose your pace and vehicle, or if you travel as a couple and value time with the winegrower. Among the private formats, the sommelier tasting ($80 per person) and the 2CV ride ($270) are the least expensive; the six-cru visit, at $798, includes lunch.
Can I book the 2CV ride on any date?
No, not in the window we checked. From November 19, 2026 to January 17, 2027, the 2CV ride opens only eleven days, all between November 19 and 30. Check the date on the listing before building your program. The tour lasts three hours, for $270 per person, and the meeting point is in front of the Porte Marie de Bourgogne tourist office, boulevard circulaire. See the listing.
Can I visit inside the Château du Clos de Vougeot?
The château is a stop on the Grand Crus Route, included in the program, but that program does not promise an inside visit. The sources I consulted do not give the same hours or prices for a visit on your own. I therefore do not repeat them here: check with the château before you go.
What is the difference between a premier cru and a grand cru?
The listings in this selection name both levels without defining them: the Grand Crus Route offers village wines, premier cru and grand cru, and the Maison Champy visit, depending on the option, a premier cru (Terroir) or a grand cru (Prestige). To know which level you are tasting, read the appellation name on the label or ask the winegrower.
