The UEFA Europa League 2026 final takes place on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at 21:00 CEST at Beşiktaş Park, Istanbul. — The general public UEFA ballot (16–20 March 2026) is now closed. The only remaining official route is the UEFA face-value resale platform (€40–€240), open to unsuccessful ballot applicants. Buying on unofficial secondary markets (Viagogo, StubHub) carries a high risk of entry refusal.

On 20 May 2026, Istanbul reclaims its place as Europe’s football capital. For the first time since the 2019 Super Cup (Liverpool–Chelsea), the city on the Bosphorus hosts a major UEFA final: the 55th edition of the UEFA Europa League, at Beşiktaş Park. A 42,590-seat stadium perched on the European shore of the Bosphorus, steps away from the Dolmabahçe Palace, with acoustics built for great European nights.

Official tickets, legal resale, stadium access, flights from London, accommodation in the Beşiktaş district, visas and local currency: this guide covers everything you need to know to experience the final live in Istanbul — whether you already have a ticket in hand or are still hoping to find one.

1. Official UEFA Tickets: ballot, prices and how to apply

UEFA ballot closed — what options remain?

Ballot open 16–20 March 2026 — CLOSED Official prices: €40 (Fans First) to €240 (Cat. 1) 37,500 tickets in total, 73% accessible to fans

UEFA opened its general public ballot from 16 to 20 March 2026 at 11:00 CET. Successful applicants were notified by email in mid-April 2026. The ticket is 100% digital, issued via the UEFA Mobile Tickets app (iOS / Android) and linked to the phone number registered at the time of purchase: it cannot be printed or transferred.

  • Fans First category (€40) — Supporter sections for the two finalist clubs, the most affordable tier.
  • Category 3 (~€70) — Upper zones behind the goals, panoramic view of the pitch.
  • Category 2 (~€120) — Corners and upper rows of the main and opposite stands.
  • Category 1 (€240) — Central stands, best direct view of the pitch.
  • Accessibility (€40) — One free carer included, request via UEFA support.
  • VIP Hospitality (from €4,990) — Separate packages including catering and access to premium areas, available at uefa.com/hospitality.

Of the 37,500 final tickets, approximately 22,000 are allocated to the two finalist clubs, 5,500 to the general public ballot, and the remainder to the UEFA family (sponsors, broadcasters, federations). In total, 73% of seats (27,500 tickets) are accessible to fans according to UEFA’s official communication.

Pixidia tip: The ballot has been closed since 20 March 2026. The official UEFA face-value resale platform is the only legal and safe route for unsuccessful applicants. Visit tickets.uefa.com or directly in the UEFA Mobile Tickets app to access the resale waitlist.

2. Official resale and the secondary market: what you need to know

Official UEFA resale: the only safe option

Resale price = face value only Zero fees for the seller Access reserved for unsuccessful ballot applicants

UEFA operates an official resale platform directly integrated into the ticketing portal. The principle is simple: a ticket holder who can no longer attend the match can list their ticket for resale at face value, with no markup. The buyer must be on the waitlist formed after the ballot closed. Any ticket resold above the original price breaches UEFA’s Terms and Conditions and exposes the seller to immediate ticket cancellation.

  • Seller access — Via the UEFA Mobile Tickets app or the tickets.uefa.com portal, under « Resell my ticket ».
  • Buyer access — Register on the resale waitlist, open to ballot applicants who were not selected.
  • Guaranteed price — Same as the original sale price, with no commission or surcharge.
  • Validated ticket — A ticket resold through the official platform remains active and accepted at the stadium entrance.

Unofficial secondary markets: real risks

Non-transferable tickets — linked to a phone number StubHub: $135 to $877 (average ~$337) UEFA cancellations: hundreds of tickets before every final

Platforms such as StubHub, Viagogo, SeatPick, LiveFootballTickets and Tickets-Exchange.com are listing tickets for the final at prices ranging from $135 to over $877 for the best seats. The fundamental problem: UEFA Europa League 2026 tickets are personalised and linked to a phone number. A ticket purchased on an unofficial market remains linked to the original buyer’s phone. UEFA — which scans tickets at entry — can detect any irregularity and deny access with no refund.

  • Cancellation without refund — UEFA actively cancels tickets resold outside official channels.
  • Possible legal offence — Unauthorised ticket resale may constitute a criminal offence under Turkish law and in several European countries.
  • Limited recourse — In case of entry refusal, unofficial platforms generally offer no satisfactory guarantee.
Pixidia recommendation: Do not buy tickets for the Europa League 2026 final on Viagogo, StubHub or any other unofficial site. The only legal alternative to the UEFA ballot is official face-value resale via the UEFA portal. Any other offer carries a serious risk of entry being denied on match night.

3. Beşiktaş Park — The final’s stadium

Beşiktaş Park: history, layout and access

42,590 seats (around 40,000 for the UEFA final) Opened in 2016 (replacing the old İnönü stadium) Vişnezade Mah. Kadırgalar Cad. No:1, Beşiktaş, Istanbul

Officially named Beşiktaş Park by UEFA for the final, the stadium is commercially known as Tüpraş Stadyumu since the 2023–24 season (naming deal worth 1.18 billion TL, renewed until 2028–29). Formerly Vodafone Park (2016–2023), it is the home of Beşiktaş J.K. — the Black Eagles, a club founded in 1903 and 16-time Turkish champions. The stadium is built for atmosphere: four double-tier stands, 147 VIP boxes, and a seating gradient that brings fans as close to the pitch as possible. The view over the Bosphorus from outside is a rare bonus for a football stadium.

  • Tram T1 — Kabataş — Stop 7–10 minutes’ walk from the stadium, direct line from Sultanahmet and the Old City.
  • Metro M2 — Taksim — Station 15–20 minutes’ walk from the stadium, connect via funicular F1 to Kabataş.
  • Ferry — Beşiktaş İskelesi or Kabataş — The most enjoyable option: 5–7 minutes from the ferry pier to the stadium, departures from Eminönü and Kadıköy.
  • Havaist shuttle from IST — Direct airport-to-Taksim bus via Beşiktaş (170 TL), convenient if you arrive on match day.
  • Istanbulkart — The rechargeable card valid on all public transport (metro, tram, bus, ferry): 165 TL for the card + ~35 TL per journey.

The stadium will be entirely pedestrianised within a radius of several hundred metres from 3 hours before kick-off. Taxis and private vehicles will not be able to approach. Plan your journey by public transport or on foot from your hotel.

Stadium rules (official UEFA): 100% cashless venue (Visa and Mastercard only, Amex refused). No alcohol sold inside the venue. Coins are prohibited by Turkish law (any loose change will be confiscated and donated to a charity). Bags maximum A4 size. No food or drink brought from outside.

4. Planning your trip to Istanbul for the final

Flights, accommodation, visas and currency: the practical guide

No visa required for UK/EU citizens (≤ 90 days) Flight London LHR → Istanbul IST: ~3h30, from £85 £1 ≈ 66–68 TL (May 2026)

From London Heathrow, Turkish Airlines operates around 21 flights per week to Istanbul Airport (IST). British Airways and easyJet complement the offer. From Manchester and Birmingham, connecting flights are also available. Prices observed in early May 2026 start around £85 per one-way trip on comparison sites (Skyscanner, Aviasales). Book as soon as possible: fares for the week of 18–22 May 2026 are rising fast as the final approaches.

  • Flights — Compare Turkish Airlines, British Airways and easyJet on Skyscanner or Aviasales. Prefer IST airport (European shore) over SAW (Asian shore, further from the stadium).
  • Accommodation — The Beşiktaş district (5–15 min walk from the stadium) and Kabataş/Dolmabahçe (7–10 min) are ideal for match day. Book now: hotels in the area are already showing inflated rates for the week of 20 May.
  • Istanbulkart — Buy your transport card at the airport (165 TL, ~£2.50). Valid on metro, tram, bus, ferry and funicular. Essential for match-day travel.
  • Visa — No visa or e-visa required for British citizens for stays of ≤ 90 days. A valid passport is required. Any site asking for payment to obtain a Turkish e-visa for UK nationals is a scam.
  • Currency — The Turkish lira (TL) is the local currency (£1 ≈ 66–68 TL in May 2026). Bank cards are widely accepted. Best exchange rates at currency bureaux inside the Grand Bazaar.
  • Travel insurance — Recommended for any trip abroad; covers cancellation, lost luggage and medical assistance.

Note that Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) begins on 27 May 2026, one week after the final. Your stay from 18–22 May is not affected. However, if you extend beyond 26 May, be aware that the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar will be closed from 27 to 30 May.

5. Fan zone and match-day experience in Istanbul

Fan zones, atmosphere and tips for final night

Stadium gates: 3 hours before kick-off (18:00 CEST) Coins banned, no alcohol sold at the stadium 100% cashless venue: Visa/Mastercard only

UEFA is organising an official Fan Festival in Istanbul for supporters with or without a ticket. The exact location will be confirmed on uefa.com/event-guide in the days leading up to the final. Several areas of the city will naturally attract fans: Taksim Square with its bars and restaurants, the Yenikapı seafront esplanade (large capacity, ideal if an official fan zone is set up there), the trendy Kadıköy district on the Asian shore, and of course the streets around the stadium in Beşiktaş for the most intense pre-match atmosphere.

  • Arrive at least 2 hours before kick-off — The area around the stadium and public transport will be extremely busy. Security checkpoints add significant queuing time at a UEFA final.
  • Have your bank card ready (Visa or Mastercard) — The stadium is 100% cashless. American Express and cash are refused at all internal points of sale.
  • Coins banned — Turkish law prohibits coins inside the stadium. Empty your pockets before reaching the turnstiles: loose change will be confiscated and donated to a charity.
  • ID required — Passport, national ID card or driving licence required at entry. Your ticket is linked to your identity.
  • Bag A4 size maximum — Any larger bag will be refused. No food or drink brought from outside (including empty bottles).
  • Evening temperature — May evenings in Istanbul range between 15 and 20°C. Bring an extra layer to stay comfortable after sunset.
  • Public transport only — Road traffic is blocked throughout the Beşiktaş district 3 hours before the match. Tram T1 (Kabataş), metro M2 (Taksim) or ferry (Beşiktaş İskelesi) are the best options.

The final is broadcast live on TNT Sports on 20 May 2026 (UK broadcast rights holder for UEFA club competitions 2024–2027). If you don’t have a ticket, many bars and venues across Istanbul will screen the match on large monitors — a guaranteed atmosphere in a city that breathes football.

Pixidia tip: Arrive at the stadium at least 2 hours before kick-off (i.e. before 19:00 CEST). Security queues at a UEFA final can last 45 to 60 minutes. Missing kick-off because of a queue is not something you’ll forgive yourself for.

Frequently asked questions about the Europa League 2026 final in Istanbul

How can I buy tickets for the Europa League 2026 final in Istanbul?

The UEFA general public ballot (16–20 March 2026) is now closed. The only remaining official route is the UEFA resale platform, accessible via the UEFA Mobile Tickets app or the tickets.uefa.com portal. Tickets there are offered at face value (€40 to €240) only by holders who can no longer attend the match. Unsuccessful ballot applicants were automatically placed on the resale waitlist.

What is the price of tickets for the Europa League 2026 final?

Official UEFA prices for the Europa League 2026 final in Istanbul are: €40 (Fans First, supporter sections of the finalist clubs), approximately €70 (Category 3), approximately €120 (Category 2) and €240 (Category 1, best central view). Accessibility tickets are €40 with one free carer included. VIP hospitality packages start from €4,990 per person.

Is the UEFA ballot for the Europa League 2026 final still open?

No. The UEFA general public ballot was open from 16 March to 20 March 2026 at 11:00 CET. It is now permanently closed. Winners were notified in mid-April 2026. The only remaining official option is the UEFA official resale waitlist, accessible on the UEFA ticketing portal or via the UEFA Mobile Tickets app.

How do I get to Beşiktaş Park stadium on the night of the final?

The Beşiktaş district will be closed to road traffic from 3 hours before kick-off. Public transport is strongly recommended: tram T1 to Kabataş (7–10 min walk to the stadium), metro M2 to Taksim then funicular F1 to Kabataş, or ferry to Beşiktaş İskelesi pier (5–7 min walk). The Istanbulkart (rechargeable card, 165 TL) is valid on all these modes of transport. Plan to arrive at least 2 hours before kick-off due to security queues.

Do British citizens need a visa to travel to Istanbul?

No. British citizens do not need a visa or e-visa for Turkey for a tourist stay of 90 days or fewer within a 180-day period. A valid passport is required (note that the 90-day rule is measured from the date of entry). Any website asking for payment to obtain a « Turkish e-visa » for UK nationals is a scam.

When is the Europa League 2026 final and what time does it kick off?

The 55th UEFA Europa League 2025–26 final takes place on Wednesday 20 May 2026, kick-off at 21:00 CEST (22:00 local Istanbul time, UTC+3). The match is held at Beşiktaş Park (officially named Tüpraş Stadyumu in the Turkish league), located in the Beşiktaş district on the European shore of Istanbul. The final is broadcast live in the UK on TNT Sports.

Is there an official UEFA fan zone in Istanbul for the final?

UEFA is organising an official Fan Festival in Istanbul for supporters with or without a ticket. The exact location will be confirmed on uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/event-guide/ in the days before the final. Without an officially confirmed fan zone, several areas of the city will serve as natural gathering points: Taksim Square, the Yenikapı seafront esplanade (large capacity), the Kadıköy district on the Asian shore, and the streets around the stadium in Beşiktaş.

How can I legally resell tickets for the Europa League 2026 final?

Resale is only permitted through the official UEFA platform, accessible from the UEFA Mobile Tickets app or the tickets.uefa.com portal. The ticket must be resold at face value, with no markup. Any resale at a higher price breaches UEFA’s Terms and Conditions and exposes the seller to immediate ticket cancellation. Any resale on an unofficial platform (Viagogo, StubHub, Facebook, etc.) violates the T&Cs and may constitute a criminal offence.

What is the capacity of Beşiktaş Park for the UEFA Europa League 2026 final?

Beşiktaş Park (Tüpraş Stadyumu) has an official capacity of 42,590 seats for domestic league matches. For the UEFA Europa League 2026 final, the effective capacity will be around 40,000 seats, as UEFA’s provisions for security zones, media spaces and VIP facilities slightly reduce the total. Of these 40,000 seats, 37,500 tickets were put on sale, of which 27,500 (73%) were accessible to fans.

Why should I not buy tickets on Viagogo or StubHub for the Europa League 2026 final?

UEFA Europa League 2026 tickets are personalised and linked to the original buyer’s phone number. They are non-transferable. A ticket purchased on Viagogo, StubHub or any other unofficial platform technically remains linked to the original purchaser. UEFA actively cancels tickets identified as having been resold outside official channels — several hundred tickets are invalidated before every UEFA final. The risk is real: entry refused at the stadium on match night, with no recourse and no refund from the unofficial platform. The prices charged ($135 to $877 on StubHub in May 2026) do not justify taking this risk.
