From Split, nine tours can be booked: €15 to €120 per adult for two, and €180 per person for the private day trip to Krka (three travelers minimum). Mostar requires a border crossing: 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 45 by car, or 3.5 to 4.5 hours by bus.

Checked on against the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

You arrive in Split with a day, maybe two, and one question: what is there to do from the city? Two trips come up again and again. Krka National Park, about an hour’s drive away, with its waterfalls. And Mostar, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 45 by car according to the sources we checked, or 3.5 to 4.5 hours by bus, with its old town and its bridge. We checked what can actually be booked from Split, to tell you what you will find there and what to know before you pay.

First observation, and it changes how you plan: Krka and Mostar cannot be combined into one day, and no tour we checked combines them. The nine tours in this article are therefore split between Krka days, Mostar days, and three alternatives that have nothing to do with the waterfalls: a walk through Diocletian’s Palace, canyoning on the Cetina, and a boat trip to the Blue Cave and Hvar. All of them show a rating of at least 4.8 out of 5 and more than 100 reviews; our starting threshold was 4.7.

If you want a day with no time constraints, check availability for the private day trip to Krka, rated 4.98 out of 5. It is the best rating in our check, and it is booked for three travelers minimum.

A word on season, because it decides almost everything. Each listing shows its window checked on November 7, 2026, from November 2026 to June 2027 depending on the tour. The windows are given tour by tour below. They are checked windows, not guaranteed time slots: confirm when you book.

Why Krka and Mostar are planned separately from Split

Split is the base for both, but the journeys have nothing in common. For Krka, the simplest option remains the car, about an hour. By bus, there is no direct link to Lozovac, the park’s gateway: you go through Skradin. The trip takes about 1 hour 53 minutes with a change to Lozovac according to Rome2Rio, and about 1 hour 15 minutes to Skradin alone according to Getbybus and Buscroatia. The fastest departure we found is around 12:30 p.m. The fare is about €11 one way according to one guide, while Rome2Rio gives a range of €10 to €35: check on site, and the timetable for the day, before counting on it for a morning excursion.

The park is open all year, according to its official website. The entrance ticket includes, according to the same site, the boat from Skradin to Skradinski buk; for boat trips beyond that, you need to book on site. The entrance price varies by season. Third-party guides give roughly €7 out of season to about €40 in high season (bookiscout, checked November 7, 2026). We could not read the park’s official 2027 list: check the amount on the park’s website before you pay.

Mostar is another matter. The city is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so you need a border crossing and a passport. The UK Foreign Office requires a valid passport: issued less than ten years ago, and expiring at least 90 days after your planned departure. By bus, the trip takes 3.5 to 4.5 hours including the border according to Busticket4. By car, allow 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 45 according to third-party sources, which vary with the border crossing.

The real choice, then, is about the day. Krka takes a full day, sometimes a little less if you take the bus. Mostar takes almost the whole day, between the road, the border and the visit. If you want both, plan two days.

One clarification on the Blue Cave, since the name is used by several tours. In this article, the Blue Cave is the one in tour 5, which the listing places on Biševo. Don’t confuse it with other trips that have a similar name, and read the itinerary before paying.

For reading prices, keep one rule in mind. All amounts in this article are totals checked for a specific base of travelers, with the date of the check. The « from » price the API shows for all age brackets is often lower than what two adults pay. We do not use it.

The 9 tours compared

The table follows the order of the listings below, ranked by rating. Prices are for two adults, except the private day trip to Krka, which is calculated for three travelers minimum.

The 9 tours to book from Split

1. Private Krka, farm lunch and wine tasting

Rating 4.98 (129 reviews) 6 hours €180 per adult (base 3) Private, 3 travelers minimum

I’d put this one first if you want a day at your own pace. The vehicle and the guide are reserved for your group alone. Lunch is at a local farm, with homemade produce, and a wine tasting completes the day. This tour has one requirement: it is booked for three travelers minimum. For two, the listing does not offer it, and our check only gives a price for three, or €540 in total, €180 per person. The Krka entrance ticket is not included: you pay it on top. Allow about six hours on site. The trap to avoid is simple: make sure you will be three before you pay.

2. Walking tour of Split and Diocletian’s Palace

Rating 4.95 (2731 reviews) 1.5 hours €15 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

If you’re discovering Split, start here. The meeting point is Peristyle Square, on the raised level, where the group is easy to spot by its yellow « Walking Tour » sign. The guide leads a small group through Diocletian’s Palace and the old town for 90 minutes, telling the site’s history along the way. Monument entrance tickets are not included: if you want to enter a paid site, budget that separately. Its checked window runs from November 21, 2026 to January 19, 2027, which makes it a good first day if you arrive at the end of the year. The checked price is €30 for two, or €15 per person. The trap: arriving late at the meeting point, since the group leaves at the announced time.

3. Canyoning on the Cetina, departing from Split

Rating 4.93 (613 reviews) 6 hours €50 per adult (base 2) Transfer from Split included

This is a whitewater activity, not a waterfall visit: you walk in the river, pass rapids, go through tunnels and swim in natural pools. The package includes a local guide, a shared round-trip transfer from Split, fees and the environmental tax. Meals and drinks are not included. The meeting point is on the sea side, at the entrance to the basements of Diocletian’s Palace, near Café Gentile; if you have no transfer, the meeting point is the Zadvarje base. Our check only covers April to June 2027, and the price is €100 for two. The trap is to take this for a waterfall visit: it lasts six hours, demands energy, and requires suitable water gear.

4. Krka and Skradin by coach, with panoramic boat cruise

Rating 4.88 (1438 reviews) 8 hours 15 min €35 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

This is the longest of the Krka trips on the list, with about 1 hour 30 minutes of travel, round trip according to the listing, in an air-conditioned vehicle. The listing includes a discount on the park entrance ticket, but the ticket itself is not included: you pay it on top, and the discount only applies to the entrance. The meeting point is in front of the Flarent agency in Split, near a red SPLIT sign. The listing mentions swimming time in the town of Skradin; it takes place at the riverside in Skradin, depending on the spot and the season, and does not concern the waterfalls. The checked price is €70 for two, or €35 per person. The trap: lunch is not included, so plan for it and pay separately.

  • About 1 hour 30 minutes of travel, round trip per the listing, air-conditioned vehicle

5. Blue Cave and Hvar, a 10 to 11 hour day by boat

Rating 4.88 (6710 reviews) 10 to 11 hours €120 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

This is the longest sea trip on the list, and the most expensive of the two-person excursions at €120 per person. The listing places the Blue Cave on Biševo, and the route also touches neighboring islands, Hvar according to the title. The boat is equipped with life jackets, masks and waterproof jackets, and taxes and fees are included. The entrance ticket for the cave is not included: the listing indicates €18 to €24 in cash depending on the period, an amount we could not cross-check with another source. Tips and lunch are at your expense. Departure is from Trogir, in front of Kamerlengo Fortress, five minutes before the announced time. The title also mentions a departure from Split: check the meeting point on your ticket before you travel. The checked window runs from March 20 to May 18, 2027, and the skipper or guide speaks English.

6. Krka waterfalls and free time in Skradin

Rating 4.87 (3150 reviews) 7.5 hours €35 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

This trip focuses on the park: a guided visit of the waterfalls, 30 minutes by boat and free time in Skradin, for a 7.5-hour day from Split in an air-conditioned vehicle. The meeting point is in front of the DM market shop in Split, for a 10:00 a.m. departure (meeting around 9:45 a.m. per the listing). The entrance ticket is not included, and cash fees of €16 to €30 are payable on the trip, according to the listing. On swimming, we promise nothing at the waterfalls: the park’s rule is detailed in the swimming question further down. In Skradin, swimming depends on the spot and the season. The checked price is €70 for two, or €35 per person. The trap: bring your own lunch, since it is not included, and arriving late for departure.

7. Mostar and the Kravica falls on a guided day

Rating 4.86 (374 reviews) 12 hours €80 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

A long 12-hour day, with a border to cross and a passport required. The listing presents this visit as departing from Split, but the meeting point indicated is in Omiš, in front of the Hotel Plaza, at 6:00 a.m. Hotel pickup is offered in some areas: ask before you pay whether your hotel is covered, otherwise plan to reach Omiš on your own. The guide accompanies the group, the vehicle is air-conditioned and Wi-Fi is on board. Outside the package, you pay in cash for the entrance to the Kravica falls, about €10 according to a local agency, border crossing fees and tips. At Kravica, arrive early: crowds build up late in the morning, according to another local agency. Our check shows only 43 open days out of 60 in the March to May 2027 window, with no reason given. The price is €160 for two, or €80 per person.

8. Krka in a day, cruise and free time in Skradin

Rating 4.83 (489 reviews) 7.5 hours €29 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation

This is the least expensive Krka trip on the list, at €29 per person for two, for a 7.5-hour day from Split. The meeting point is at 9:45 a.m., in front of the shop opposite the Daluma Travel agency, Obala kneza Domagoja 1. The guided park visit is included, with 30 minutes by boat and free time in Skradin. The entrance ticket is not included, nor are meals and drinks. On swimming, we promise nothing: in Skradin it depends on the spot and the season, and Skradinski buk is not among the park’s designated swimming areas. Our check covers April and May 2027. Compare with tours 4 and 6, which cost €6 more per person. The trap: the meeting point is at 9:45 a.m., and cash fees of €16 to €30 are payable on the trip, on top of the entrance.

9. Mostar, Počitelj and Kravica, small group

Rating 4.81 (1337 reviews) 12 hours €80 per adult (base 2) Small group

This listing has the same destination as tour 7, with one extra stop: Počitelj, a village the listing places on the route before Mostar and Kravica. The group is small, the guide is professional and local, and a walking visit of Mostar is included. The listing gives the meeting point in two ways, and we do not decide for you: the Gray Line office in Trogir at 6:15 a.m., March to October, or Omiš at 6:05 a.m. Confirm the location before you leave, as the departure point determines the time. Meals, the Kravica entrance and border fees are paid separately, in cash on site, and a valid passport is required on arrival. Our check shows 43 open days out of 60 between mid-March and mid-May 2027, the same as tour 7. The price is €160 for two, or €80 per person. The trap: since the departure point is not settled, neither is the time.

Preparing the trip

Getting there and getting around

For Krka, allow about an hour by car. By bus, there is no direct link to Lozovac: you go through Skradin, about 1 hour 53 minutes of travel with a change to Lozovac (1 hour 15 minutes to Skradin only), and the fastest departure we found is around 12:30 p.m. The fare is about €11 one way according to one guide, while Rome2Rio gives a range of €10 to €35; check on site. For Mostar, the bus takes 3.5 to 4.5 hours including the border, and the car 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 45 according to third-party sources.

The season

The checked windows are given tour by tour: tours 1 and 2 from November 21, 2026 to January 19, 2027; tour 3 from April 22 to June 20, 2027; tours 4 and 8 from April 1 to May 30, 2027; tour 5 from March 20 to May 18, 2027; tour 6 from April 15 to June 13, 2027; tours 7 and 9 from March 15 to May 13, 2027. These are checked windows, not guaranteed time slots: confirm the date when you book.

Cash budget

Outside the packages, bring cash: the Kravica entrance (about €10), border crossing fees, and the Blue Cave ticket (€18 to €24 depending on the listing). For Krka, third-party guides give roughly €7 out of season to about €40 in high season (bookiscout, checked November 7, 2026); the official 2027 list could not be read.

Practical tips on site

To choose your day, start with the season, then the budget. If your date falls between November 21, 2026 and January 19, 2027, the walking tour of Split (tour 2) and the private day trip to Krka (tour 1) have a checked window on those dates. They are not really comparable: one is an hour and a half on foot in town, the other a full day with lunch. The other checked windows start between mid-March and late April 2027.

Choosing by profile

As a couple, the walking tour of Split (tour 2, €15 per person) or the Krka waterfalls day (tour 6, €35 per person) are the simplest options. For more flexibility, the Blue Cave trip (tour 5) costs €120 per person. For a family, the Krka coach trip (tour 4 or tour 8) remains the easiest to organize, with about an hour and a half of travel and free time in Skradin; bring a swimsuit if the children want to dip their feet, and read the swimming rule first. On a small budget, the walking tour of Split (€15 per person) and the €29 Krka trip (tour 8) are the two least expensive entry points. For a first trip to Croatia, the walking tour is the most useful: it gives you the landmarks of Split before you set off on an excursion. If you have limited mobility, canyoning (tour 3) and the walking tour (tour 2) require walking and good fitness, whereas coach and private vehicle trips are less demanding. Ask the operator before booking.

Budget: what to add

The checked prices are totals per person for the stated base, not full packages. Add: the Krka park entrance ticket, whose order of magnitude is given above, to be verified on the official list; meals, since no listing includes them except the lunch in tour 1; tips; border fees, whose amount is not stated; the Kravica entrance, about €10; and the Blue Cave ticket, €18 to €24 depending on the listing. For a day in Mostar, budget at least €80 per person, plus on-site spending, which the check does not cover.

Mistakes to avoid

First mistake: booking a Mostar day without checking the calendar, since the check shows only 43 open days out of 60 for tours 7 and 9. Second mistake: counting on swimming in the Krka waterfalls without reading the park’s rule, detailed in the swimming question below. Third mistake: assuming every departure is from Split. For tours 5, 7 and 9, the meeting point is in Trogir or Omiš, so confirm it on your ticket. Fourth mistake: traveling to Bosnia with an identity card. Guides disagree on this point; take your passport, without exception.

Frequently asked questions

Which tour from Split has the best rating?

The private day trip to Krka, with farm lunch and wine tasting, has the best rating in our check: 4.98 out of 5 for 129 reviews. It lasts about six hours and is booked for three travelers minimum, at €540 in total. For two people, the walking tour of Split comes first with 4.95 out of 5 and 2,731 reviews, at €30 in total. See the listing.

Can you see Krka and Mostar on the same day?

Krka is about an hour’s drive from Split. Mostar requires a full day with the border: 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes by car according to third-party sources, or 3.5 to 4.5 hours by bus. The most sensible choice is one day for each. If you only want one trip, choose Krka for a shorter day, or Mostar for a second country and a historic bridge.

Is an identity card enough to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Take your passport. The UK Foreign Office requires a valid passport, issued less than ten years ago and expiring at least 90 days after departure, for a stay of up to 90 days without a visa within six months. Guides do not agree on the European identity card: some say it is enough, others say it is not. If you are not sure, don’t rely on it, and keep your passport handy for the border.

Can you swim at the Krka waterfalls?

The park’s rule only opens swimming in designated areas, Roški slap, Stinice and Pisak, from June 1 to September 30, and at your own risk. Skradinski buk is not cited as a swimming area, and jumping from the waterfalls or the bridges is forbidden. The tours include free time in Skradin: swimming there depends on the spot and the season. Check the rule in force on the day of your visit on the official website before packing your swimsuit.

Can you book a winter excursion from Split?

Yes, provided you check the date. Between November 21, 2026 and January 19, 2027, the walking tour of Diocletian’s Palace, at €15 per person, and the private day trip to Krka, for three travelers minimum, have a checked window on those dates. For the other tours, the checked window starts between mid-March and late April 2027. These dates are not guaranteed: confirm them when you book.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, because not all open days are bookable. For tours 7 and 9, only 43 out of 60 days are open in the checked window. In the check of November 7, 2026, all nine tours show free cancellation, but the exact deadline is in each listing. Read it before you pay.
