MotoGP at Misano 2026, round 14 of the championship, runs Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, in Misano Adriatico, Italy. The race starts on Sunday 13 at 2pm, the sprint on Saturday 12 at 3pm, and the 2025 attendance record stood at 174,821 spectators. Without a car, the winning plan: stay in Rimini or Riccione, take the coastal train to Misano Adriatico station (15 or 3 minutes), then walk 20-30 minutes to the circuit. Tickets only on TicketOne or motogp.com, from €16.

The San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix is the most hotly anticipated round of the MotoGP season with the tifosi: 174,821 spectators in 2025, an all-time record. For the 2026 edition, 11-13 September, every practical question boils down to three: where to stay between Rimini and Riccione, how to reach the circuit without a car, and where to buy tickets without getting stung. This guide settles all three, with prices checked in summer 2026 — the same treatment we gave the Madrid F1 GP 2026.

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

11-13 September 2026 Race Sunday 13 at 2pm 174,821 spectators in 2025 Tickets from €16 (TicketOne)

The Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini 2026 is round 14 of the MotoGP championship, according to the official MotoGP calendar. First trap to rule out: the event does not run in the Republic of San Marino, but at Misano Adriatico, in Emilia-Romagna, on a 4.226 km, 16-corner circuit opened in 1972, remodelled in 2006 and renamed in honour of Marco Simoncelli in 2012 (per Wikipedia). The neighbouring republic, 25 km away, remains the event’s historic partner and an excellent excursion on the edge of the weekend.

The 2026 edition has a special flavour: Aprilia races at home, with Jorge Martin leading the championship (240 points) ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (209) and Ai Ogura (203) after the British GP, according to Crash.net. The circuit has sold out for years: 174,821 spectators across the three days in 2025, 91,671 of them on Sunday, and Dorna’s renewal signed through 2031 (per Motor Valley).

Highlights

  • The tifosi’s big one: packed grandstands, fan zones and the « Riders’ Land Experience » all along the Riviera
  • An Aprilia home race: Martin, Bezzecchi and Ogura hold the top three spots in the championship
  • A full weekend: practice Friday, sprint Saturday 3pm, race Sunday 2pm
  • The Aprilia grandstand (Tribuna D, sector E) with fan kit, free parking and motorbike cloakroom
Pixidia tip: don’t confuse the GP with the Republic of San Marino: « San Marino » tickets only get you into the Italian circuit. The Republic is a half-day trip from Rimini (Bonelli bus, €12 return) and deserves a day on the edge of the race — on Monday, for instance.

2. Where to stay: Rimini or Riccione, the head-to-head

Rimini or Riccione: the right call for a GP weekend

€50-250 per night in September Train 15 min (Rimini) or 3 min (Riccione) 15-18 km or 8-10 km from the circuit Book early, prices surge on GP weekend

Riccione, 8-10 km from the circuit, is the closest town after Misano Adriatico itself. Nicknamed the « Green Pearl », it is smarter and more polished than its neighbour: Viale Ceccarini for shopping, nightlife often called the liveliest on the Riviera, and hotels from €56 to €250 a night in September (per specialehotel.com and Alberghi.it). Its logistical trump card: a station on the coastal line, 3 minutes from Misano Adriatico.

Rimini, the provincial capital 15-18 km away, is bigger, livelier and cheaper (€50-250 a night). It has real heritage for free mornings: the Arco d’Augusto (27 BC), the Ponte di Tiberio, the Tempio Malatestiano and the Fellini-frescoed Borgo San Giuliano (per Rimini Turismo). The central station is a hub: direct regional train to Misano Adriatico (~15 min, ~€2.50) and the Metromare terminus towards Riccione.

Two complementary options are worth a look: Misano Adriatico (€68-200), the circuit’s own town, where several hotels sit a 20-30 minute walk from the track — zero transport needed; and Cattolica (3 km from the circuit), often cheaper than Riccione and served by the same train line. Heads up: on GP weekends availability evaporates and prices climb, warns VacationRenter; Misano’s hotels go first.

Highlights

  • Riccione: the closest (8-10 km), the smartest, 3-minute train to the circuit
  • Rimini: the biggest, the cheapest, Roman heritage and a rail hub
  • Misano Adriatico: hotels within walking distance of the track, the zero-transport option
  • Cattolica: the pleasant surprise, 3 km from the track and often more affordable
Pixidia tip: without a car, both towns work: coastal train to Misano Adriatico, then the final walk. Pick Riccione for proximity and comfort, Rimini for budget and city life. Book now: on GP weekend hotels sell out and prices are marked up.

3. Getting to the circuit without a car: train, Metromare and walking

The no-car plan: the coastal train to Misano Adriatico

Train €1.50-2.50 per trip 15 min from Rimini, 3 min from Riccione 20-30 min walk to the circuit Trenino ~€7 return and bus 124 as backup

The winning move for this GP is the regional train on the coastal Bologna-Ancona line, serving Rimini, Riccione, Misano Adriatico and Cattolica every 15-30 minutes during the day. From Rimini, count on ~15 minutes and ~€2.50 to Misano Adriatico; from Riccione, ~3 minutes (per Trainline and Rome2Rio). Misano Adriatico station sits 1.3-2 km from the circuit: 20 to 30 minutes on foot, downhill on the way back after the race, according to Rome2Rio.

Previous editions ran a « trenino » road train between the station and the circuit at ~€7 return and a line-124 bus at ~€1.50, but the special 2026 GP shuttles are not officially announced yet: check in race week on misanocircuit.com or visitmisano.it (2024 spectator reports: Motogpforum). The Metromare, an electric light rail, links Rimini station to Riccione station in 23 minutes (€2.50 for 2 zones, €5 for 24h, 3-day SmartPass €11), but it stops short of Misano: take the regional train from there, 3 minutes (per Start Romagna).

From the UK, direct flights to Bologna take just over two hours: easyJet from London Gatwick, Ryanair from Stansted and Luton, British Airways from Heathrow. Ryanair also flies direct from Manchester to Rimini’s Federico Fellini airport — the closest gateway, about 12 km from the circuit — twice a week in summer 2026 (Wednesdays and Saturdays, ~2h 30m), so plan around those days (per Rimini Turismo’s 2026 route list and Pole Position Travel). From Birmingham, expect a connection via London or Manchester — no direct route to Rimini is scheduled for 2026. Once in Italy, Bologna (BLQ) is the most practical gateway: Marconi Express (€11, 7 min), then a regional train to Rimini (€8-12) or a direct shuttle (€10-15, 1h30-2h); or Rimini RMI, 8 km from the centre, served by bus line 9 at €1.50 (~25 min), according to Vita Romagna. Our night-train vs plane comparison for Italy helps you choose; and to stay connected while validating your tickets in the Trenitalia app, our travel eSIM comparison comes in handy.

Highlights

  • Direct coastal train: 15 min from Rimini, 3 min from Riccione, €1.50-2.50
  • Final 20-30 min walk, downhill on the way back: the regulars’ trick to skip the queues
  • Metromare Rimini-Riccione (23 min, €2.50) then a 3-min train to Misano
  • Fly into Bologna or Rimini without a hire car, €10-30 of local transport
Pixidia tip: validate your regional ticket in the Trenitalia app before boarding, and double-check it reads « Misano Adriatico »: some search engines point to the « San Marino Grand Prix » at Imola, 93 km away. Keep a taxi Plan B (~€30 from Riccione) in case of rail works, which have hit some editions.

4. 2026 tickets: official channels and the scam alert

TicketOne and motogp.com only: tickets from €16

From €16 (TicketOne) Grass Sunday €84-121 Kids under 12: €7/day Tribuna C already sold out

Official sales run through TicketOne, the official Italian channel, and motogp.com, with day tickets and 3-day passes from €16 (per the Riviera di Rimini event page). Prices seen among resellers in summer 2026: Prato 2 grass at €84-97 on Sunday or €132-169 for the 3 days, covered grandstands A/B at €246-349 on Sunday, Centrale (facing the grid) at €342-484, and hospitality packages from €773 (per Grandstand Tickets). Under-12s pay €7 per day, €18 for the weekend. Sales status in mid-August: Tribuna C is sold out, the rest of the grandstands and grass areas are still available (per TicketsGP).

For Aprilia fans, the official Aprilia grandstand (Tribuna D, sector E) is on sale for Saturday 12 and Sunday 13: numbered seat, fan kit handed out Sunday morning, motorbike baggage storage and free parking (per the Piaggio Group).

Scam alert: fake MotoGP tickets are a documented plague. The « Bilbao fake ticket seller », arrested in 2025, swindled more than 100 people for around €730,000 in total, €70,000 of it in 2024 alone (per Moto.it), and fake paddock passes circulate in the names of paddock members. Buy only on TicketOne or motogp.com, and beware of mirror sites: motogpmisano.com presents itself as an official box office while its own footer states it is not affiliated with Dorna Sports.

Highlights

  • Official channels only: TicketOne (ticketone.it) and motogp.com, from €16
  • Reduced kids’ rates (€7-18) and the Aprilia grandstand with fan kit and free parking
  • Stadium-style checks: no glass or alcohol, bottles opened at the gate
  • Strict entry rules: pack a light jacket and something to sit on in the grass (backrest chairs banned)
Pixidia tip: always compare the final price including booking fees, which vary wildly between resellers for identical seats (gaps of up to 30% observed). And if an offer promises « guaranteed refunds » or a pass in the name of a rider or a team manager, run: that is the signature of the documented scams.

5. Around the GP: weekend programme, beach and San Marino

The three-day programme and the Riviera’s surroundings

Sprint Saturday 12 at 3pm Race Sunday 13 at 2pm Sea at 22-24 °C in September San Marino: €12 bus return from Rimini

The weekend follows the sprint format used across the 2026 rounds: free practice on Friday, sprint Saturday 12 at 3pm, then Sunday 13 with the MotoGP warm-up at 9:40am, Moto3 at 11am, Moto2 at 12:15pm and the MotoGP race at 2pm (provisional times per Sport Flash). Grandstand-wise, the Centrale gives you the grid and podium view, Brutapela the corner 3-4 atmosphere, and the D TOP the bikes arriving head-on at turn 13 (per TicketsGP).

Around the racing, the Riviera runs on motorbike time all weekend: beaches with the sea still at 22-24 °C, stabilimenti open with September rates 30-40% below August, and Romagna piadina at €8-12 on site (per WeatherSpark and Grand Prix Getaway). Mid-September weather is still kind (24-26 °C in the day) but rain is not impossible: pack a light jacket and some protection.

Finally, the Republic of San Marino deserves half a day: Bonelli bus from Rimini station (45-60 min, ~€12 return, cash only), a UNESCO-listed old town with its three towers, a cable car at €4-7 and a museum pass at €11 (per The Trip Verdict). Lots of fans head there on the Monday after the race: go on Friday morning instead. To stretch out the Italian summer, our Ferragosto in Italy guide takes the pulse of the beaches and cities at the end of the season.

Highlights

  • Saturday sprint at 3pm, Sunday race at 2pm: the two peaks of the weekend
  • Beach time between sessions: sea at 22-24 °C, September rates 30-40% off
  • San Marino in half a day: €12 return bus, three UNESCO towers and a cable car
  • Local food: Romagna piadina, passatelli and Sangiovese on the cheap
Pixidia tip: on Sunday, arrive before 8:30am: local roads close to pedestrian traffic and 91,671 spectators showed up in 2025. For the way back, walk to Misano Adriatico station (30 min downhill) rather than waiting for the shuttles, and keep an eye on the last evening trains (~10-10:40pm on the coast).
