The 2027 Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival has no official dates yet, but it is held every second weekend of October: most likely around 6-10 October 2027. The 2026 edition, the 93rd, runs from 7 to 11 October. The official program is free and revolves around the Clos Montmartre, planted in 1933 on 1,556 m². Book your guided tours and tastings as soon as operators open 2027, and check the guide’s language.

Every autumn, a 1,556 m² vineyard at the corner of rue des Saules turns the Butte into a giant neighborhood party. The title « last vineyard in Paris » is a nice hook, not an absolute truth: other vines exist in the capital, in Bercy or Belleville. But the Clos Montmartre remains the most famous, the oldest still cultivated on the Butte, and the only one to have had its own festival since 1934.

I wrote this guide a year ahead, because hotels on the hill fill up early and the good guided tours go fast. The 2027 dates have not been announced: I give you the 2026 edition as a benchmark and an estimate clearly flagged as such. The prices and availability below are those seen in October 2026, not 2027 prices.

My starting point if you only book one thing: the full meal in Montmartre with a French or English guide, which you can also check directly on Viator. In total, I kept 12 experiences rated from 4.79 to 4.98 out of 5, from food tours to champagne tastings. One practical caveat: eight of them are guided in English only, and I state it on each card.

Why Montmartre still has its vineyard

Vines had disappeared from the Butte in 1928. In 1933, the City of Paris planted the Clos Montmartre on the former « Liberty Square » laid out by the illustrator Francisque Poulbot, to block a property development (Wikipedia, in French). The clos covers 1,556 m² with about 1,700 vines, originally planted with gamay and pinot noir. The first harvest took place in 1934, and the festival was born the same year.

The wine is pressed in the basement of the 18th arrondissement town hall and sold for the benefit of the district’s social causes. The harvest remains modest: 1,329 kg of grapes in September 2026 (18th arrondissement town hall, in French). The clos is not open to the public: you can glimpse it from the street, and visit it on guided tours by registration during the festival.

The festival itself draws in the order of 400,000 to 500,000 people depending on the sources, with no dated official figure. The official program is free. To get your bearings, here is what the 2026 edition (7 to 11 October) offers, and what should reappear, in a similar form, in 2027:

  • the grand parade of the wine brotherhoods on Saturday, from the clos vines to the 18th arrondissement town hall;
  • the Parcours du Goût (taste trail), with around a hundred producers in the streets around the Sacré-Cœur;
  • guided tours of the vineyard by registration, concerts and activities for children.

In 2027, 1 October falls on a Friday: the second weekend of October is therefore 9 and 10 October. With the Wednesday-to-Sunday format of the last two editions, the likely window is Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 October, with a grand parade on Saturday 9. This is an estimate: wait for the town hall’s announcement before locking in non-refundable bookings.

This is the card I put first because it fits the spirit of the festival: you eat and drink the Butte instead of watching it go by. Starting in front of the Moulin Rouge saves you from hunting for a meeting point in the crowd, and the guide can work in English or French.

  • Multi-stop full meal, with at least one glass of wine
  • Guide in French or English depending on the time slot
  • Meeting point in front of the Moulin Rouge ticket office

Practical tips on site

The benchmarks below come from the 2025 and 2026 editions: reconfirm them when the 2027 program comes out, usually in September of the edition year.

Crowd on the steps of the Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre
Photo by Margaret Jaszowska on Unsplash
  • Transport. Metro lines 2, 4, 12 and 13 serve the Butte. The recommended stations are Anvers, Abbesses, Lamarck-Caulaincourt and Jules Joffrin. The funicular leaves from place Suzanne Valadon.
  • Car. Driving up the Butte is strongly discouraged, even banned, from the Thursday of the festival, and parking is prohibited on several streets around the Sacré-Cœur.
  • Crowds. Arrive early on Saturday. For the parade, stand on avenue Junot rather than at the start, which is very dense.
  • Guided tours. Place du Tertre and the streets of the Parcours du Goût will be very busy: a small group lets you bypass the most crowded areas, and operators adapt their routes.
  • Language. Eight experiences out of twelve are guided in English only: the ones labeled « French » are the only ones offered in French.
  • Security. Expect bag checks at the entrances, and access points that may be closed when it gets too crowded.
  • Accommodation. Hotels around place des Abbesses fill up early: book as soon as the dates are announced.
