In November, the sun is still within six hours’ flight, as long as you choose by sea temperature and by season. Tenerife is about 4 h 20 from Orly, Mallorca 1 h 55 from Paris, and Hurghada, the warmest option here with air near 24 °C, is 5 hours away. For a swim, aim for Cyprus, the Canaries or the Red Sea; for walking and sightseeing, Madeira, Malta or Marrakech. These averages come from weather comparison sites and describe past readings, not the weather in 2026. Check official travel advice before you book.

November has lost summer’s light, but it’s still a season for sun. The French All Saints’ school holidays, the same in all three zones, end early in the month: schools go back on Monday 2 November, so most of the month falls outside school holidays, with generally lighter tourist numbers than in summer. We picked twelve destinations within six hours of Paris, from the closest to the furthest, then went through what changed in 2026: entry permits, taxes, formalities and official advice.

A note on method before we start. The temperatures, sunshine hours and rainfall figures below are averages from past readings, taken from weather comparison sites. They are neither official climate normals nor forecasts for November 2026. Flight times and prices are indicative, taken on a given date: check them when you book. To compare other months of the season, read our guide to where to go in autumn 2026.

1. Tenerife, winter sun at the foot of Teide

Teide, book before you go

Direct flight, about 4 h 20 Air around 20 °C Sea around 22 °C Outside school holidays

Transavia flies Orly to Tenerife South direct, in about 4 h 20 according to Partir. The average across all flights rises to 4 h 49. In November, the air is around 20 °C according to seasonal guides, and the sea 22 °C according to Cabaigne.

The island’s real draw is Teide National Park. Since 19 January 2026, access to some trails is paid and booked by time slot. For non-residents, local press reports a fee on the Telesforo Bravo trail, with and without a guide, according to RTVC. We have not confirmed those amounts: check the park’s official website before you book. Slots are booked on the Tenerife ON platform and released every Monday at 7 a.m. Canary time. They often sell out within hours.

Highlights

  • A direct flight from Orly, with no connection
  • The summit of Teide is still reachable, if you book the right time slot
  • A wide choice of guided trips, by boat or by vehicle
Pixidia tip: fix the day of your summit before you book your return flight. A missed slot can mean rearranging your whole week.

A volcanic island, with few direct flights

Direct flight, 4 h 05 to 4 h 10 Air around 21 °C Sea around 21 °C 7 to 10 h of sun

The direct link from Paris-CDG is run by easyJet, but with few flights. Partir gives about 4 h 10 of flight, and Liligo about 4 h 02. Check the day of the week before you fix your dates.

On climate, Bouger Voyager puts sunshine at around 7 hours a day, while BestDateWeather gives 9 to 10. Rain is rare: only a few days in the month, and around fifteen millimetres according to the averages on comparison sites. Timanfaya National Park, with its lava fields, remains the island’s most striking visit.

Highlights

  • A unique volcanic landscape, with Timanfaya park
  • Mild temperatures, with air around 21 °C on average
  • Few rainy days in the month
Pixidia tip: on 1 November, the Spanish All Saints’ holiday, shops and public services are closed. Stock up the day before, and pack a jacket for the evenings, according to Bouger Voyager.

The Maspalomas dunes and the southern climate

Direct flight, 4 h 15 to 4 h 20 Air between 19 and 22 °C Sea around 22 °C About 39 mm of rain

Gran Canaria is better served than Lanzarote. Transavia France and Vueling run several departures a week from Orly, for about 4 h 15 of flight according to Partir. The return takes about 4 h 20, according to Liligo.

In November, the sea reaches about 22 °C around Las Palmas and Maspalomas, according to Cabaigne. The air ranges between 19 and 22 °C, with mostly clear skies, according to Ou-et-Quand.

The island has two faces. The south, around Maspalomas, has the dunes and the sunniest beaches. The north, around Agaete and Las Palmas, offers another landscape and atmosphere. Your choice of coast matters as much as your choice of island.

Highlights

  • The Maspalomas dunes, a few steps from the sea
  • Direct flights from Orly, several times a week
  • Two climates depending on the coast you choose
Pixidia tip: if you want the beach, stay in the south. For more variety of landscapes and villages, the north is worth the detour.

Trails that now charge a fee

Direct flight, 3 h 25 to 3 h 50 Air around 21 °C Sea between 20 and 23 °C About 9.7 h of sun

Funchal has a direct link from Paris, of 3 h 25 to 3 h 50 depending on the source. Partir gives 3 h 50 on average. Frequencies vary from one page to another, so check them before you book.

In November, the average daily high in Funchal is around 21 °C, and sunshine reaches about 9.7 hours a day, according to Ou-et-Quand. November is damper than summer, with frequent showers in the hills.

The 2026 change concerns the trails. Since 1 January, the Vereda do Areeiro (PR1) has been paid: €10.50 for self-guided access, or €7 for a guided visit with a partner tour operator, on a booked slot. Other classified trails cost €4.50, according to Routard, which also reports a fine of up to €50 for offenders. The tourist tax in Funchal is €2 per night, up to seven nights, and an increase is under consideration, according to Times of Madeira.

Highlights

  • Levadas to walk, old irrigation channels turned into paths
  • A direct flight from Paris, under 4 hours

Cliffs for walking, a cool sea

Direct flight, 2 h 35 to 2 h 45 Air around 17 °C Sea around 19 °C About 8 h of sun

Paris-Faro is a direct flight of about 2 h 35 to 2 h 45, according to Partir. Routes vary with the departure airport, Orly, CDG or Beauvais: the airline’s page is the reference when you book.

In November, Faro averages about 17 °C, with a maximum of 19 °C, a sea close to 19 °C and about 7.9 hours of sun a day in coastal towns, according to Ou-et-Quand.

Rain is the most debated figure. Sources give between 51 and 77 mm for the month, and the number of rainy days varies with the record. Keep a range, not a single figure.

Highlights

  • A cut coastline, with cliffs and coves to explore on foot
  • A short, direct flight from Paris
  • About 8 hours of sun a day on the coast
Pixidia tip: here, walking beats swimming. Keep a windproof jacket for the headlands, which catch more wind.

6. Málaga, sunshine less reliable than its reputation

A very short flight, sunshine to take with a pinch of salt

Direct flight, 2 h 25 to 2 h 40 Air from 11 to 20 °C 5.5 to 9.5 h of sun 78 to 88 mm of rain

Paris-Málaga is one of the shortest direct flights in our selection, at 2 h 25 or 2 h 40 according to Partir. From Orly, Iberia, Vueling and Transavia fly the route, about one flight a day in November, according to the same page: check at the time of booking.

Sunshine is Málaga’s weak point in November. One climate table gives about 5.5 hours of sun a day, while an Andalusian record gives close to 9.5 hours, according to Ou-et-Quand. That second figure covers several Andalusian towns, not Málaga alone, so we keep the range rather than the high value.

On accommodation, the city has frozen new licences for tourist apartments for three years. Published on 24 July 2026, the measure has been in force since 25 July, according to Euroweekly News. Existing licences remain valid, so your booking is unchanged, but the arrival of new apartments is slowed.

Highlights

  • A very short direct flight from Paris
  • The Alcazaba and the old town, best explored on foot
  • Several days without rain in the month
Pixidia tip: if sunshine is your number-one criterion, look at Madeira or Cyprus instead, where average sunshine is close to or above 9 hours a day. Málaga remains a good city break.

7. Mallorca, the shortest flight in the selection

A flight of about two hours, a sea around 20 °C

Direct flight, about 1 h 55 Air around 17 °C Sea between 19.5 and 20 °C About 8 h of sun

Palma is the shortest direct flight from Paris in our selection, at about 1 h 55 of flight according to comparison sites. Partir lists several airlines from Orly, Paris-CDG and Beauvais.

In November, Palma averages around 17 °C and a sea between 19.5 and 20 °C, according to Cabaigne. Sunshine, estimated at 8 hours a day, rests on a single source: treat it as a rough guide.

The tourist tax, which varies with the season, is covered in our dedicated article, so we won’t repeat it here: read Mallorca’s tourist tax in 2026 before you set your budget. Tourist pressure is also a live issue: a protest against overtourism took place in Palma on 26 July 2026, according to Ulysse.

Highlights

  • The shortest flight in the selection, with several airlines
  • An island that combines coast and mountains, with the Serra de Tramuntana
  • A city best seen on foot, with its cathedral
Pixidia tip: for a swim, the sea at 19 or 20 °C is still cool. A light wetsuit lets you enjoy the mornings without waiting for the afternoon.

History and landscapes, a cooler swim

Direct flight, 2 h 40 to 2 h 55 Air from 17 to 21 °C Sea from 20 to 22 °C 6.5 to 8 h of sun

Paris-Valletta is a direct flight of 2 h 40 to 2 h 55, according to Partir. The airlines named differ between sources, and one page even claims there is no direct flight: check the route before you book.

The sea is close to 21 °C at Valletta, according to Partir. Sources give between 20 and 22 °C, and sunshine varies between 6.5 and 8 hours a day depending on the year. Rainy days are frequent, and the rainfall figures differ widely from one record to another.

The island is seeing more and more visitors: more than 4 million international tourists in 2025 (+13.2%), and 45% of residents consider crowding excessive, according to Euronews. The Blue Lagoon on Comino now requires a booking.

Tourist tax reports conflict between sources. We therefore give no amount: check the Maltese government website before you travel.

Highlights

  • Valletta, Mdina and Gozo, on foot or by boat
  • A dense flight network, with Ryanair strongly present
  • Coastal walks, more pleasant than swimming in November
Pixidia tip: Malta suits visits and walking better than swimming in November. If you plan to visit the Blue Lagoon, book your time slot in advance.

Swimming is possible, with a cautious framing

Direct flight, 4 h 10 to 4 h 20 Air around 21 °C Sea 21.5 to 22 °C About 9 h of sun

Paris-Larnaca takes about 4 h 10 to 4 h 20 outbound, and 4 h 40 to 4 h 50 on the return, according to Liligo. Wizz Air and Cyprus Airways run direct flights. The island is one hour ahead of France all year round, and two hours ahead of UK time in November.

November averages are favourable: around 21 °C in the air at Larnaca and Paphos, a sea between 21.5 and 22 °C, and about 9 hours of sun a day, according to Ou-et-Quand.

Safety matters here too. The French Foreign Ministry recommends heightened vigilance against the threat of terrorism, in its Cyprus advice updated on 15 September 2026, according to the Cyprus advice page. French consular protection cannot be guaranteed in the north of the island, and Ercan airport is advised against. Stay in Larnaca or Paphos. Check the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advice as well. Before you book, read our Cyprus 2026 update, which answers the question of beach holidays.

Highlights

  • One of the warmest seas in the selection in November
  • Direct flights with Wizz Air and Cyprus Airways
  • Ancient remains, such as the site of Kourion

Direct flight, 3 h 15 to 3 h 50 Air from 17 to 19 °C Sea from 20 to 21 °C About 9 h of sun

Paris-Heraklion is direct in 3 h 15 to 3 h 50 depending on the departure airport, according to Partir. From Orly, Transavia usually runs a daily flight. From Paris-CDG, direct flights are few: none in December and January, and none from Orly in April and May 2027.

In November, the averages for Heraklion give about 17 °C in the air and a sea around 20 to 21 °C, according to Ou-et-Quand. The sunshine, estimated at about 9 hours a day, rests on a single source. Expect a few short showers on a handful of days.

The palace of Knossos, a few kilometres from Heraklion, remains the island’s best-known visit. For food, Crete is the European Region of Gastronomy for 2026: our Crete 2026 guide covers markets and tavernas. A new international airport is due to open at Kastelli, near Heraklion, in 2027, according to Air Journal: it will not serve this winter.

  • Cretan cooking, found in markets and tavernas

The French Foreign Ministry’s advice, updated on 15 September 2026, puts the Mauritanian border in red, and the south of the Algerian border and Western Sahara in yellow. Diving and sun in November, in a resort that is not classified

Direct flight, 5 h 05 to 5 h 15 Air around 24 °C Sea from 25 to 26 °C About 10 h of sun

Paris-Hurghada takes about 5 h 05 to 5 h 15 of flight outbound, and 5 h 45 on the return, according to Partir. Transavia France, easyJet and Air Cairo fly the route. It is the longest in the selection, but still under six hours.

This is the warmest destination in our selection: average air around 24 °C, sea between 25 and 26 °C, and about 10 hours of sun a day, according to Ou-et-Quand. The sky is clear or sunny on most days, and rain is almost absent for the month.

For diving, a guide cited by the Routard forum considers September to November ideal: water between 21 and 28 °C, visibility of 20 to 50 m. Abu Nuhas, with its wrecks, and Giftun, for snorkelling, are the most-cited sites.

Hurghada is not classified by the French Foreign Ministry, in its Egypt advice updated on 21 September 2026. North Sinai and the western desert are in the red zone: don’t confuse them with the resort. The tourist visa is reported at $30, online or on arrival, but one source still gives $25: check the amount on the official portal. Sources also differ on when the six months of passport validity are counted from, so travel with six months’ validity beyond your return.

Highlights

  • The most comfortable swimming in the selection in November
  • Diving and snorkelling sites, at Abu Nuhas and Giftun
  • A sky that is clear or sunny on most days
Pixidia tip: stay on the coast for this trip. The western desert areas are classed red or orange, and cannot be visited without planning.

What we ruled out, and what stays in reserve

Dubai is excluded. The flight takes about six hours from Paris. Air France and KLM are suspended at least until 24 October 2026, according to Voyages d’Affaires. An EASA bulletin recommends avoiding parts of Gulf airspace until 16 November 2026. The French Foreign Ministry maintains heightened vigilance for the whole country, except a few islands, in its UAE advice of 15 September 2026.

Sinai is excluded. The north of the peninsula is in the red zone. The south, with Sharm el-Sheikh or Dahab, remains under heightened vigilance: if you go, choose a secure hotel.

In reserve: Djerba, with a flight of about 2 h 50 to 3 h and a sea around 22 °C, but strong demand and recent alerts. Agadir, whose sunshine figures vary widely between sources. Essaouira, which rests on a single figure. And Cape Verde: no direct flight to Sal is confirmed, and the journey is probably between 5 h 30 and 6 h.

Entry rules, safety and calendar: what changed in 2026

  • Passport. In the Schengen area (Spain, Portugal, Malta, Greece), a French ID card is generally enough. British travellers need a passport issued less than 10 years earlier, and valid for at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. Check the current UK government passport guidance before you travel. For Cyprus, carry your passport in any case.
  • Entry/Exit System (EES). In operation since 10 April 2026, it applies to non-EU nationals on short stays in the Schengen area, according to the European Commission. It does not apply to holders of a French passport, but it does apply to British travellers, who are non-EU nationals.
  • ETIAS. This scheme also targets non-EU nationals, British travellers included. No official start date has been published yet, so we are not announcing one, according to the official EU page.
  • Morocco. No visa is needed for a tourist stay of under 90 days, with a passport valid at the time of travel, according to Ulysse. Sources disagree on the validity required: allow three months after your return.
  • Egypt. The single-entry tourist visa is reported at $30, online or on arrival. One source still gives $25, so check the official portal before you pay. Your passport must be valid for six months after your return.
  • Holidays and long weekends. French All Saints’ school holidays run from 17 October to 2 November 2026, with schools back on Monday 2 November, according to Onisep. Armistice Day, 11 November, falls on a Wednesday: French workers who take Thursday 12 and Friday 13 off get five days’ rest, from 11 to 15 November, according to Liligo. For British readers: England’s October half-term falls on 26 to 30 October 2026 in most councils, according to Cognito, and England and Wales have no bank holiday in November, so there is no long weekend to plan around.
  • Flight costs. Air France applies a fuel surcharge of about €50 return on short-haul economy fares, for tickets issued since March 2026, according to Ulysse. Include it in your budget.
