Tickets for London’s official New Year’s Eve 2026 fireworks are sold only on Ticketmaster, on sale since 23 October 2026 at noon (London time). They cost £20 to £55 per person depending on zone and residency, are non-refundable, and booking fees are added on top.
Checked on against the official sources cited (event page and Mayor of London press releases).
London’s New Year’s Eve party takes place on the Thames, but the fireworks can’t be watched without a ticket. Every year the Mayor of London puts on a show at midnight, by the London Eye, and access to the riverbanks is reserved for holders of an official ticket. For the 2026 edition, sales opened on Friday 23 October at noon, on Ticketmaster only, and prices stayed at their 2025 level. The length of the show isn’t confirmed for 2026: the 2025 communication mentioned about twelve minutes.
This guide answers the questions a visitor asks before leaving: which ticket to pick, which zone to choose, what time to arrive, how to get to London on 31 December, and what to do if the ticket goes missing. Prices and entry times mostly come from the official pages and the Mayor’s press releases, checked on 24 October 2026. The exceptions are flagged in the text: night-time transport, the Eurostar timetable, booking fees (Secret London), show length (2025 press release), Primrose Hill (specialist press) and weather (1961-1990 averages). Private-party prices are either from 2025 or not dated.
1. Official 2026 tickets: prices, sale and rules

Ticketmaster, the only sales channel
Official ticketing runs through Ticketmaster, and through no other channel. The Mayor of London has announced prices frozen at 2025 levels: £55 for the blue, pink and white zones, £40 for the red, green and orange zones. A £20 discount per ticket is available to people whose billing address is in London, with proof that can be requested at the entrance. A second wave has been announced for later in the year, with no date as of the time of checking. All the details are on the official event page.
The ticket gives access to a single zone, through a numbered gate assigned at purchase. You can’t change zone on the night, and there are no refunds. Resale is only possible through Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan, at face value.
Highlights
- Prices are the same as in 2025: no increase has been announced for 2026.
- London residents pay £35 in zone A and £20 in zone B, with proof.
- Under-16s are admitted if they are accompanied by an adult.
- Official resale is possible via Fan-to-Fan, with no markup.
The cruise below doesn’t cover the fireworks. Its daytime departures are listed for 31 December between 10 am and 2 pm, with dates to be reconfirmed on the Viator listing. It suits anyone who wants to see the river before the evening, not anyone looking for a view of the show.
2. Choosing your zone: the view changes completely
Six viewing zones are open in 2026, spread across both banks of the Thames. Each has a colour, its own access and a different view. The table below sums up the prices and what the spectator sees from each zone.
| Zone | Category | Location | View | Standard price | London resident price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blue | A | Victoria Embankment, from Westminster Bridge to the Golden Jubilee Footbridge, north bank | Head-on, facing the London Eye | £55 | £35 |
| Pink | A | Waterloo Bridge only, north-side entrance | Side view, partial | £55 | £35 |
| White | A | Westminster Bridge only, south bank | Side view, partial | £55 | £35 |
| Red | B | Victoria Embankment, from the Golden Jubilee Footbridge to Temple Avenue, north bank | Side view, further away | £40 | £20 |
| Green | B | Behind the London Eye, south bank | Very close, the wheel seen from behind | £40 | £20 |
| Orange (step-free access) | B | Albert Embankment, riverside side of St Thomas’ Hospital, south bank | Side view, partial | £40 | £20 |
Source: official event page, Greater London Authority, checked on 24 October 2026. Booking fees extra.
The blue zone has the most head-on view: it runs along Victoria Embankment, facing the London Eye. The green zone, behind the London Eye, is very close, but you see the wheel from behind. The pink and white zones are only reached via their bridge, Waterloo Bridge for the first and Westminster Bridge for the second, and the view from them is partial and to the side. The pink zone doesn’t let you cross the bridge to reach another zone.
The orange zone is on the south bank, on the riverside of St Thomas’ Hospital, with a side view. So the choice is made before you buy: for a non-resident, a category A zone costs £15 more per person than a category B zone, and the difference comes mostly down to the angle of view.
3. The evening, hour by hour, in London and Paris

From 8:00 pm to 12:30 am, London time
The show starts at midnight, with the chimes of Big Ben, and lasts about twelve minutes according to the official 2025 communication. The length of the 2026 edition isn’t confirmed in the pages consulted. The programme officially ends at 12:30 am.
Highlights
- Entry opens at 8:00 pm and closes at 10:30 pm, in every zone.
- On 31 December, vehicle traffic is restricted from 2 pm, until about 6 am on 1 January.
- Early closures can start at noon in some zones, depending on the backup plan.
The table below lines up London and Paris times for the night of 31 December 2026. The gap is one hour in winter, so midnight in London is 1:00 am in Paris.

4. Without a ticket: the free options have shrunk sharply
There’s no official free zone to watch the fireworks from the riverbanks in 2026. Without a ticket, access to the viewing zones is refused, children included: everyone needs one, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. The Royal Parks were explicit in their 2025 press release: no official viewing zone exists in their parks, and they asked visitors not to come to London for the fireworks without a ticket. If your ticket goes missing, there is neither a refund nor resale outside the platform: the only resale provided runs through Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan, at face value.
Three common options, with their limits:
- Primrose Hill is closed on the night of New Year’s Eve 2026. It can’t serve as a free viewpoint this year, according to specialist press (IanVisits, 16 October 2026).
- The royal parks published closing times for 2025 only. Hyde Park closed at midnight in 2025, and Greenwich Park as well as St James’s Park restricted access late in the afternoon. The 2026 times for these three parks aren’t published in the sources consulted (see the table below).
- Television broadcast the 2025 edition on BBC One. A 2026 broadcast isn’t confirmed by any official source at the time of checking: don’t count on it.
| Park | Closure in 2025 | 2026 status |
|---|---|---|
| Primrose Hill | 8:00 pm on 30 December, reopening at 6:00 am on 1 January | Closed on New Year’s Eve night |
| Hyde Park | Midnight | 2026 times not published |
| Greenwich Park | Pedestrian and vehicle gates closed around 6:00 pm on 31 December | 2026 times not published |
| St James’s Park (east side) | Closed to the public from 5:00 pm on 31 December | 2026 times not published |
Source: Royal Parks press release of 10 December 2025, checked on 24 October 2026; IanVisits, 16 October 2026 for Primrose Hill.
No official zone is confirmed for 2026, and the royal parks asked people in 2025 not to come without a ticket. For a first look at the capital, eight experiences to book for a first trip to London give ideas for the days before New Year’s Eve, and the Christmas experiences in London for 2026 cover the holiday dates.
5. Paid alternatives: Sky Garden, The Shard and cruises
These options are private products, separate from the official fireworks. Their prices were noted for the 2025 evening or aren’t dated. Reconfirm them on the operator’s site before any purchase.
| Item | Amount noted | Date of the information | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official ticket, category B, London resident | £20 | October 2026 | Official |
| Official ticket, category A, non-resident | £55 | October 2026 | Official |
| Booking fee (ticketing provider, according to Secret London) | £2.66; per ticket or per order: not specified | 22 October 2026 | Third-party figure, to be confirmed at checkout |
| Sky Garden, standing ticket, 31 December evening | From £227.90 | 31 December 2025 | Private, 2025 edition |
| The View from The Shard, New Year’s Eve party | £149.95 | Not specified | Private, date to be confirmed |
| Cruise with a view of the fireworks, departing Westminster Pier | Not noted | 2026/27 season | Third-party operator |
Sources: Secret London, 22 October 2026 for booking fees; Time Out for Sky Garden and The Shard (The Shard, undated); Design My Night for the dinner; See Tickets and Resident Advisor for the cruise; consulted 24 October 2026.
Sky Garden was selling standing tickets from £227.90 for the evening of 31 December 2025 (Time Out). A dinner at the Larch Italian restaurant was offered at £115 per person (Design My Night). The 2026 edition wasn’t found. For The View from The Shard, the £149.95 price in Time Out isn’t dated: reconfirm it with the operator before buying.
Cruises promising a view of the fireworks from the Thames are run by third-party operators. A 2026/27 offer sold on See Tickets (the « London NYE 2026/27 Fireworks View Boat Party » ticket) advises, according to Resident Advisor, arriving at 8:15 pm for a boat leaving at 8:30 pm and running until 12:30 am. The price wasn’t noted. Read the cancellation terms before you pay.

6. Getting to London on 31 December: ETA, train and tube
The ETA for French travellers
Everyone travelling to the UK needs an electronic travel authorisation, the ETA, including babies and children. It costs £20 according to the official gov.uk site and allows a stay of six months at most, with a validity of two years. According to service-public.gouv.fr, the amount has been about £20 (around €23) since 8 April 2026. Apply directly on the official site, because intermediaries often charge more for the same result.
Eurostar: timings to confirm
No 2026 Eurostar timetable has been confirmed by an official source: check eurostar.com before booking. A press article, whose date isn’t visible, also flags a risk of delays and cancellations as New Year approaches, after a power supply incident in the Channel Tunnel. Allow a margin, and choose a changeable ticket if your arrival has to line up with 8:00 pm.
The tube on New Year’s Eve night
No TfL announcement for 2026 could be read: check tfl.gov.uk before you travel. Design My Night’s 2026/27 transport guide says normal fares apply that night, that most lines run extended special services, and that central stations such as Embankment, Westminster or Waterloo may see entry checks, exit-only access or temporary closures at peak times.
Lastly, car traffic is restricted from 2 pm on 31 December. A taxi or private hire car should therefore allow for a longer journey, and arrival at your accommodation is best planned early in the afternoon.
7. Tickets: avoid fake sites and resellers
Fraud is the most concrete risk of this evening. A London Assembly investigation, published in 2024, describes very convincing fake ticket sites: buyers discovered the fraud at the entrance, which caused queues and bottlenecks. The authorities recommend a simple rule: only buy on Ticketmaster, including via resellers.
A ticket bought off the platform, or resold outside Fan-to-Fan, isn’t valid, and its holder can be refused access to the zones. Check the site’s address before entering your bank details, and keep the order confirmation with your ticket, on your phone and as a paper copy.
The 2026 sales announcement states that Ticketmaster is the only authorised seller. In a dense crowd, keep your phone and wallet in a closed pocket, to guard against pickpockets.
8. Weather and pollution: what to know
The expected weather
No forecast is available at this date, so the data below is historical. The Met Office tables for Heathrow are calculated over 1961-1990; the 1991-2020 normals weren’t extracted, so their figures aren’t repeated here. The record for 31 December in the UK is 16.8 °C, set at Colwyn Bay, in Wales, in 2021. Bring layers, a waterproof and closed shoes: the evening is spent standing, often on damp riverbanks.
Pollution and the controversy
The show is contested over its effect on air quality. In a January 2023 reply to a request for information, the Greater London Authority estimates that the fireworks’ share of London’s total emissions is very small. The reply also argues that smoke disperses quickly in most weather conditions, and that its effect is brief and localised. Read the GLA’s published reply for the exact figures.
A 2024 petition asked for the show to be stopped; spotted via an aggregator (repetition.me), it was rejected as off-topic.
What other guides don’t tell you
Two gaps noted in the guides consulted on 24 October 2026:
- ETA: the old amount no longer applies. Before 8 April 2026 it was about £16 (€18); since that date it has been about £20 (around €23), according to service-public.gouv.fr, published 27 March 2026 (consulted 24 October 2026).
- Transport: an old article announces free night travel on New Year’s Eve. An IanVisits article from December 2018 announced it. The Design My Night 2026/27 guide, consulted 24 October 2026, lists normal fares, with no confirmation from TfL.

Where can I buy official tickets for London’s New Year’s Eve 2026 fireworks?
Only on Ticketmaster. Tickets have been on sale since Friday 23 October 2026 at noon, London time. Tickets bought from another seller aren’t valid, and resellers outside the platform aren’t allowed. For resale, the only option is Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan, at face value.
How much does a ticket cost in 2026?
Prices are the same as in 2025. For the blue, pink and white zones, the standard ticket costs £55, and £35 for a London resident. For the red, green and orange zones, it costs £40, and £20 for a London resident with proof. Booking fees are added to the displayed price, with no amount confirmed on the official page at the time of checking.
Can you watch the fireworks without a ticket?
Not from the official zones: without a ticket, access is refused, children included. The Royal Parks said in 2025 that they have no official viewing zone and asked visitors not to come to London for the fireworks without a ticket. Primrose Hill is closed on the night of New Year’s Eve 2026. No official list guarantees a view from outside the zones in 2026.
How long does the show last?
The show lasts about twelve minutes and starts at midnight with the Big Ben chimes, according to the official 2025 communication. Entry to the zones opens from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm, and the event officially ends at 12:30 am London time. The length of the 2026 edition isn’t confirmed in the pages consulted.
Can you see the fireworks from Primrose Hill in 2026?
No. The park is closed on the night of New Year’s Eve 2026, according to specialist press published on 16 October 2026. The 2025 hours, with a closure at 8:00 pm on 30 December and a reopening at 6:00 am on 1 January, don’t apply to this edition and shouldn’t be used as a reference for your plans.
Does a French traveller need an ETA to go to London?
Yes, everyone needs one, including children and babies. It costs £20 according to gov.uk, and service-public.gouv.fr gives an amount of about £20 (around €23) since 8 April 2026. It allows a stay of six months at most, with a validity of two years. Apply directly on the official site, not through an intermediary.
Is the tube free on New Year’s Eve night?
No TfL announcement for 2026 could be verified. According to Design My Night’s 2026/27 transport guide, the most recent one consulted, normal fares apply, and most lines run extended special services. Check tfl.gov.uk before you travel.
What time is it in Paris when the show starts?
It’s 1:00 am in Paris when the show starts at midnight in London, since the two cities are one hour apart in winter. Entry opens at 9:00 pm in Paris, and the official end falls at 1:30 am Paris time.
