Eight experiences to book around Cadiz Carnival 2027, from €12 to €160 per adult (based on 2 people). None of the Viator listings we checked for Cadiz sells tickets to the contest or the parades. Walking tours, tapas, cycling, a boat trip and three outings beyond the city. Start with the walking tour, rated 4.92 out of 5.

Verified on on the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

Cadiz carnival is not booked like a concert. None of the Viator listings we checked for Cadiz sells a seat at the Gran Teatro Falla or a place on the parades through the streets, and I will not promise you a ticket that does not exist. What I can offer is a way to experience the city around the festivities: the contest of the chirigotas, comparsas, coros and cuartetos fills the Gran Teatro Falla for several weeks, and Cadiz is best explored in January and February, on foot, by bike, by boat and at the table.

I have selected eight experiences that cover the window from January 8 to February 14, 2027, when the contest takes place. All of them were checked on October 24, 2026: price for two adults, rating, number of reviews and open days. Three are outside the city of Cadiz, and three close on certain days or dates. I flag this in the relevant card, because a closed day ruins a booking.

If you only remember one thing, remember the most reviewed walking tour (903 reviews, rating 4.92), Cadiz walking tour: stories told by a local guide. It is closed from January 11 to 24, so during most of the preliminaries. Start with it if your stay falls outside that period, then choose according to your budget and whether you prefer the table, the bike or the sea.

Cadiz carnival in 2027: a contest, a street, a calendar

Cadiz carnival starts with a contest. Chirigotas, comparsas, coros and cuartetos sing at the Gran Teatro Falla in successive sessions. The contest sets the rhythm of the month: preliminaries, quarter-finals, semi-finals, then the romanceros final and the gran final. We have not found the session schedule for 2027.

The 2027 calendar published by the local press is as follows: preliminaries from January 8 to 21, quarter-finals from January 24 to 29, semi-finals from February 1 to 3, the romanceros final on February 4 and the gran final on Friday, February 5 (Andalucía Información, June 12, 2026). These are forecast dates. Another site only gives January 8 for the preliminaries (Planomato): before building a stay around a specific session, reconfirm the calendar with the city council.

The street carnival, with its groups singing in squares and narrow lanes, follows the contest, but its 2027 dates have not been published yet. So I am not giving any parade date. What we can look at is the previous season: in 2026 the gran final was on a Friday, the pregón on the Saturday and the Gran Cabalgata the following Sunday (Movelia). One source counts eleven days of street events that year (Festivales de España). These markers show how the festival is organised, not when it will take place in 2027.

What changes for you is the timetable. The city is busy in the evening, so I suggest keeping sightseeing for the morning or early afternoon and saving your evenings for the festivities. Cadiz is a narrow old town open to the sea, best explored on foot. That is why the selection favours walking, with bike and boat outings, and three trips into the province.

Before booking, three points still need checking: the meeting point of the historic tour, which the listing does not name; the manual confirmation of the Vejer tour, which runs only six Saturdays; and the Sunday departure of the Jerez tour, which the listing does not mention. All listings were checked on October 24, 2026 for the period from January 8 to February 14, 2027, closures included.

Walking tour of Cadiz with a local guide
Source: Viator

1. Walking tour with a local guide

Rating 4.92 (903 reviews) 1 h 50 €15 per adult (based on 2) Instant confirmation

This is the first tour I recommend, and by far the best tested: 903 reviews, the largest sample in the selection, for a 4.92 rating. The guide tells the story of the city on foot, starting from Plaza de España, in front of the Constitution of 1812 monument and the statue of La Pepa. What sets it apart: it works as a mental map. Once the lanes and squares are clear, the rest of your stay is easy to follow, whether it is the parades, the bars or the contest appointments. The ideal moment? The first day, to get your bearings. The pitfall is specific: it closes from January 11 to 24, 2027, which covers most of the preliminaries. If your stay falls on those dates, switch to tour number 3 or the private tour. Free cancellation and instant confirmation.

  • Departs from Plaza de España, in front of the statue of La Pepa
  • Open January 8 to 10, then January 25 to February 14
  • Free cancellation and instant confirmation

2. Tapas food tour with a local

Rating 4.92 (369 reviews) 3 h 30 €89 per adult (based on 2) Instant confirmation

The food tour is the one that best captures the spirit of the carnival: you eat standing up, you chat, you let someone guide you. The route includes at least four stops, the equivalent of a full meal, with an English-speaking local guide and water. Alcohol tastings are for guests aged 18 and over, and water is provided. The ideal moment? A Friday or Saturday, when the city is packed and you need a seated break. The pitfall is simple: the tour is closed on Sundays and Mondays across the whole period, so a weekend that starts on a Sunday cannot fit it. The meeting point is in front of the town hall, Plaza San Juan de Dios, and the tour lasts 3 h 30. Come on an empty stomach.

  • At least four stops, the equivalent of a full meal
  • Meeting point in front of the town hall, Plaza San Juan de Dios
  • Closed on Sundays and Mondays across the whole period

3. Historic tour with old photographs

Rating 4.92 (133 reviews) 2 h €12 per adult (based on 2) Instant confirmation

This tour is built around historic photographs of the city, and its 133 reviews give it a 4.92 rating. It is available on all 38 days of the period. For those who already know the city, it complements the first tour. For those discovering it, it shows how the old town has changed. It is one of the two lowest prices in the basket, along with the Vejer tour: €12 per adult for two. The catch is the meeting point. The listing does not name one, so check the location in your confirmation before setting off.

  • Meeting point to check in the confirmation

4. Small-group bike tour

Rating 4.71 (253 reviews) 2 h 30 €36 per adult (based on 2) Instant confirmation

This is the active option in the selection, and the only one that really leaves the step-by-step format. You start at the bike shop « Las Bicis Naranjas »: bike, helmet and a local guide are included, in a small group. The route passes La Caleta, the cathedral, the Roman theatre and Plaza de España, which covers most of the centre. Why choose it? Because it lets you see a lot in two and a half hours, and get out of the centre when the festivities become overwhelming. The catch is its rating, a notch below the walking tours (4.71 against 4.92). It also requires being comfortable cycling on narrow streets. If that is not you, stick to walking: the walking tour covers the same places without a saddle.

  • La Caleta, the cathedral, the Roman theatre and Plaza de España
  • Bike, helmet and local guide included
  • Small group, departing from the bike shop

Private boat on the bay of Cadiz

5. Three hours on a private boat in the bay

Rating 4.92 (65 reviews) 3 h €320 for 2 adults (private boat) Private tour Instant confirmation

This is the only sea outing in the selection, and the most expensive: €320 for two adults, the rate listed for the private boat. It does not leave from Cadiz but from Puerto Sherry, the marina of El Puerto de Santa María, so plan the transfer before booking. Three hours on the bay, with snacks, a paddleboard and a soft drink included. Why choose it? Because the boat is yours, the schedule is too, and the bay looks different from the water. The pitfall is taking it for a Cadiz sightseeing tour. It is a trip at sea, not a cultural visit, and its rating rests on just 65 reviews, which makes it one of the least tested options in the selection.

  • Departure from Puerto Sherry, outside the city of Cadiz
  • Private boat, three hours on the bay
  • Snacks, paddleboard and drink included

6. Private custom walking tour

Rating 4.72 (113 reviews) 2 to 8 h depending on the option €45 per adult (based on 2) Private tour Instant confirmation

This is the option for those who do not want a fixed route. The guide prepares the visit with you before the day: neighbourhoods, themes, pace. Duration ranges from 2 to 8 hours depending on the option, which leaves room for a family or a group of friends. It is the most flexible in the selection, at €45 per adult for two. The catch is the meeting point: the listing does not specify it and only mentions a meeting at your accommodation, if it is in the city. Ask for the location before paying, and state the pace you want. An eight-hour option is not chosen like a one-hour visit.

  • Route chosen with the guide before the visit
  • Duration of 2 to 8 hours depending on the option
  • Meeting at your accommodation if it is in the city

Sung tour of the legends of Vejer de la Frontera
Source: Viator

7. Vejer: sung tour of legends, outside Cadiz

Rating 4.98 (126 reviews) 1 h 30 €12 per adult (based on 2) Six Saturdays only Manual confirmation

Vejer de la Frontera is not Cadiz, and that is the point: it is a whitewashed hilltop village in the province, which the tour presents through its legends and mysteries. The guide writes songs, and the tour is sung. The rating is the highest in the selection, 4.98 out of 5 across 126 reviews. There are three constraints to know. The tour runs only six Saturdays in the period: January 9, 16, 23 and 30, then February 6 and 13. Booking is not instant, it is confirmed by hand. And the meeting point is Plaza de España, at the foot of the Torre del Mayorazgo, opposite La Casa del Califa. The pitfall is booking it thinking it takes place in Cadiz. With this tour, the day becomes an outing to the province, not a stroll through the carnival city.

  • Six Saturdays: January 9, 16, 23 and 30, February 6 and 13
  • Manual confirmation, not instant
  • Meeting point at Plaza de España, in Vejer de la Frontera

8. Jerez: alcazar and cathedral with an art historian

Rating 4.58 (62 reviews) 2 h €34 per adult (based on 2) Instant confirmation

Jerez de la Frontera is another town in the province, known for its sherry and its horses. This tour is the only one in the selection that takes you inside monuments: the alcazar and the cathedral, with entrance fees included. The guide is an art historian, which turns a tour of monuments into a reading of architecture and of what it tells us. The meeting point is Plaza Arenal, in front of the equestrian monument. The listing says departures run Monday to Saturday: reconfirm Sunday before booking. For the carnival, this is a day away from the festivities, useful if you need a break. The pitfall is its rating, the lowest in the selection (4.58 across 62 reviews). Take it in the morning, to keep some slack in your day.

  • Cathedral and alcazar entrance fees included
  • Meeting point at Plaza Arenal, Monday to Saturday per the listing
  • Rating of 4.58: the lowest in the selection

What other guides don’t tell you

Many guides present the carnival as a show you can book. Here are four gaps between what they imply and what the sources establish as of October 24, 2026.

  • The carnival is not sold on Viator. None of the eight listings we checked gives access to the contest at the Gran Teatro Falla or to the street parades: they are tours, a tasting and three trips out of the city (Viator, partner API, checked October 24, 2026). For contest seats, contact the theatre or the city council directly.
  • The contest dates are forecasts. The calendar from January 8 to February 5, 2027 comes from a press announcement that describes these dates as forecast (Andalucía Información, published June 12, 2026, accessed October 24, 2026). Another site only gives January 8 for the preliminaries (Planomato). Reconfirm the calendar with the city council before you lock in accommodation.
  • The 2027 street carnival has no confirmed date. No official source we checked sets the 2027 parades, and the city council’s carnival page returned a 404 error when we checked. The 2026 markers only show that the street follows the contest (Festivales de España, accessed October 24, 2026).
  • Three listings close on some days. The walking tour with a local guide is closed from January 11 to 24, 2027. The tapas food tour is closed on Sundays and Mondays across the whole window. The Vejer singing tour runs only six Saturdays and is confirmed by hand. A booking made without checking these days goes to waste.

Practical tips on site

Budget for two. For two adults, the rates checked range from €12 per adult (€24 for two) for the historic tour and the Vejer tour, to €160 per adult (€320 for two) for the private boat. The food tour is €89 per adult and the private tour €45. To save money without giving up the setting, the walking tour at €15 per adult offers the best balance of price and rating, with 903 reviews.

Profiles. First time in Cadiz? Take the walking tour, then the historic tour that extends its story. As a couple, the private tour and the boat give you a day free of group constraints. With family, the food tour pleases the most people, provided you respect the opening days. On a tight budget, the two tours at €12 per adult cover the city well.

Mistakes to avoid. Four pitfalls come up again and again. Booking the walking tour between January 11 and 24, when it is closed. Booking the food tour on a Sunday or Monday. Thinking the Vejer tour takes place in Cadiz: it runs only six Saturdays and is confirmed by hand. Finally, hoping for a contest ticket: no listing sells one.

The contest and the street. In 2026, the contest sessions were broadcast on local television and radio (Idealista). Nothing yet says whether this will be the case in 2027. The dates of the street parades and the session times have not been published: keep an eye on the council’s announcements, and only book a hotel night once a schedule is confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy a Gran Teatro Falla contest ticket on Viator?

No. None of the eight listings checked on October 24, 2026 sells a seat for the contest of the chirigotas, comparsas, coros and cuartetos, or for the street parades. The experiences in this article are tours, a tasting and three trips outside the city: they accompany the festivities, they do not give access to the theatre. For contest seats, contact the Gran Teatro Falla or the city council directly through their official channels.

What are the dates of Cadiz carnival 2027?

According to the forecast calendar announced by the local press in June 2026, the contest preliminaries take place from January 8 to 21, the quarter-finals from January 24 to 29, the semi-finals from February 1 to 3, the romanceros final on February 4 and the gran final on Friday, February 5, 2027. The street parades follow the contest, but their 2027 dates have not been published yet, so I cannot give you any.

Which experience has the best rating?

The sung tour of Vejer has the highest rating, 4.98 out of 5 across 126 reviews, but it takes place outside Cadiz and only on six Saturdays. For the largest number of reviews, the walking tour with a local guide comes first, with 903 reviews and a 4.92 rating. These ratings are from the October 24, 2026 check and change as new reviews come in.

Can you cancel for free?

The eight listings checked on October 24, 2026 indicate free cancellation. The exact conditions depend on each provider and may change before your visit date. Read the full booking details before paying, and keep the confirmation, which serves as proof in case of a dispute about the meeting point.

Should you book in advance during the carnival?

Seven experiences out of eight confirm instantly. The Vejer tour is the only one that requires manual confirmation, and it runs only six Saturdays. The check shows availability on most days of the period, but the walking tour is closed from January 11 to 24 and the food tour on Sundays and Mondays. Book as soon as your stay is fixed, because availability changes.

Which days should you avoid for the food tour and the walking tour?

The tapas food tour is closed on Sundays and Mondays across the whole window from January 8 to February 14, 2027. The walking tour with a local guide is open on January 8, 9 and 10, then from January 25 to February 14, and closed in between. If your stay falls during the preliminaries, take the historic tour with old photographs instead, which is open across the whole window.
