For Easter 2027 in Rome, seven experiences book from $33 to $377 per adult (based on 2 travelers). Three run all four days (March 25 to 28): the group Colosseum tour, the Pantheon and the food tour in the Vatican neighborhood. The three Vatican Museums tours are not offered on Easter Sunday.

Checked on on the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

Easter 2027 falls on Sunday, March 28. Holy Week therefore gives four days of sightseeing in Rome, from Thursday, March 25 to Sunday, March 28, and not every format is offered every day. On Easter Sunday, the three Vatican Museums tours are not offered by their provider; on Good Friday, the visits with access to the Colosseum arena are not offered either.

I selected seven experiences out of the ten products reviewed. The selection rests on two measured criteria: a rating of at least 4.7 out of 5 with 100 reviews or more, and at least three days open out of the four checked from March 25 to 28. All ten products pass both thresholds, so theme coverage decides: three Vatican tours, two Colosseum formats, the Pantheon and one food experience. Three products are therefore not in the listing. The bike ride on the Appian Way is offered as a bonus at the end of the article. The $59 cooking class overlaps with the food tour (three preparations followed by a meal in 3 hours, against four hours of tasting). The day trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum, a full day outside Rome, starts at $123 per person. If you only book one thing, start with the skip-the-line Vatican tour (card 1): it is the Vatican tour with more than 8,400 reviews, and it is offered on Good Friday.

Prices are per adult for two travelers, taken from the Viator partner API, and availability is checked date by date. Nothing here is estimated. When a product is not offered on a given day, the « Available days » column of the table says so, without presenting it as closed. In this selection, the days without an offer are March 28 for the Vatican tours and March 26 for the Colosseum arena tour; this is stated day by day.

Why Easter in Rome: the calendar to know before you book

The dates of Holy Week are fixed, but availability is checked day by day. For 2027, Palm Sunday falls on March 21, Holy Thursday on March 25, Good Friday on March 26, Holy Saturday on March 27, Easter Sunday on March 28, and Easter Monday, known in Italy as Pasquetta, on March 29. The checking window, March 25 to 28, covers Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Pasquetta is not covered by our checks: an event page for Pasquetta 2026 at the Colosseum Archaeological Park was found; its opening hours were not read, and no 2027 time has been checked.

On Good Friday, the Way of the Cross at the Colosseum draws large crowds. The Italian press announced about 30,000 faithful for the 2026 ceremony (Open, April 2026). That figure concerns another year, and the 2027 ceremony time has not been checked: it is a point to watch, not a time to plan around.

Easter Sunday is the weak point of the programme for the Vatican. The three Vatican Museums tours selected are not offered by their provider that day, according to the availability checked on October 25, 2026. The group Colosseum tour, the Pantheon and the food tour in the Vatican neighborhood remain on offer. The official museum hours for that day could not be read: the opening-hours page of the official Vatican Museums site (museivaticani.va) returned a 404 error during our check, and no official 2027 schedule was read for this article.

Good Friday is the second day to watch. The visits with access to the Colosseum arena are not offered by their provider that day, while the group visit of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine remains on offer. The three Vatican tours selected are open on March 25, 26 and 27, so not on Easter Sunday.

Mass tickets are not the same as our tours. None of the seven experiences gives access to a religious ceremony. Ticket arrangements for papal Masses are not confirmed for 2027. Do not confuse a skip-the-line tour, which covers entry to the museum, with a place at Mass.

On prices, the official Pantheon site announces free entry on the first Sunday of the month. March 28 is not a first Sunday of the month: no official source we read confirms free entry that day, and it is not promised here. The adult entry fee is not readable on the site, and press articles report a recent increase that the official site does not confirm. We therefore do not give any standalone entry price for the Pantheon: card 6 gives the price of the guided tour, pre-booked ticket included.

1. Vatican skip-the-line, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica in a small group

Rating 4.89 (8446 reviews) 3 h $199 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Available 3 days out of 4

If you only keep one booking for Easter, make it this one. It is a Vatican tour with more than 8,400 reviews, a rating of 4.89 out of 5 and priority entry to the museums. Allow three hours to walk through the galleries to the Sistine Chapel, then head to St. Peter’s Basilica with privileged access. The catch: the provider does not offer this tour on Easter Sunday. Schedule the Vatican on Thursday 25, Good Friday 26 or Saturday 27 March. Meet at the office at Via Santamaura 14b, an eight-minute walk from Ottaviano metro station, and check in fifteen minutes before departure. Free cancellation is offered on this product, which leaves room if your plans change.

  • Priority entry to the Vatican Museums
  • Sistine Chapel and privileged access to St. Peter’s

2. Early-morning Vatican: the Sistine Chapel before the crowds

Rating 4.91 (4175 reviews) 3 h 30 $227 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Available 3 days out of 4

For those who want to see the Sistine Chapel early in the day, this is the early-morning group tour of the museum lineup. The visit starts early in the morning, in a semi-private group of six people at most, with a local guide you will spot by the sign they carry. It lasts 3 hours 30, half an hour longer than the skip-the-line tour. The meeting point is in front of Café Vaticano, opposite the museum entrance; arrive fifteen minutes early. It is offered on March 25, 26 and 27, not on Easter Sunday. At $227 per person for two, it sits between the skip-the-line tour at $199 and the private tour at $377. What sets it apart is the calm of the morning more than the content: if you only have one morning for the Vatican, it is the one I would choose.

  • Early entry, before the crowds
  • Semi-private group of 6 people maximum

3. Private Vatican with a Blue Badge guide, for a tailored visit

Rating 4.86 (1080 reviews) 3 h $377 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Private tour Available 3 days out of 4

This visit is for you if you want to ask a guide your questions for three hours, without sharing their attention with a group. The guide is a Blue Badge holder, and the private visit of the Vatican Museums includes St. Peter’s Basilica with a shortcut for access. It is the highest price in the selection, at $377 per person for two: the format justifies the cost, and you set the pace. It is offered on March 25, 26 and 27, not on March 28. The base option starts at 7:30 a.m. at Caffè Vaticano, Viale Vaticano 100, on the other side of the museum entrance, and transfers are not included. The trap: the base option does not include transfers, so check the option you choose before you pay. The « luxury » option adds hotel pickup. It is offered on March 25, 26 and 27, not on March 28.

4. Colosseum with the arena floor, in a group of six

Rating 4.94 (3932 reviews) 3 h $170 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Available 3 days out of 4

The optional access to the arena floor is what sets this visit apart from a standard Colosseum entry. Depending on the option you book, you can step down onto the floor, in a group limited to six people, with a professional guide. The three-hour visit then moves on to the Forum and the Palatine, which widens the day to the whole ancient site. The rating of 4.94 out of 5 for more than 3,900 reviews makes it the best-rated Colosseum visit in this selection. Meet under the red metro sign, in front of the upper exit of Colosseo station (line B). The trap is Good Friday: the provider does not offer this visit on March 26; the open dates are March 25, 27 and 28. If your plans take you through Good Friday, choose instead the group visit in card 5, which covers the same monument and stays open that day. For the rest of the week, this is the one I would book first.

  • Semi-private group of 6 maximum
  • Forum and Palatine included

5. Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine in a group, entry ticket included from $62

Rating 4.74 (2364 reviews) 2 h 30 $62 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Available 4 days out of 4

This is the simplest option in the lot, and one of the three offered all four days, along with the Pantheon and the food tour, Good Friday included. The two-and-a-half-hour visit covers the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, and the entry ticket is included in the price: you have nothing else to buy. At $62 per adult for two, it is the third cheapest of the seven. The trade-off fits in one line: free cancellation is not offered on this product, so book once your schedule is set. The meeting point is at Largo Gaetana Agnesi 5, in front of the primary school, where staff wear light blue uniforms. Arrive twenty minutes before departure. Compared with card 4, you save a lot on price, and you give up the arena floor. It is the choice for a first visit to ancient Rome, or for a Good Friday when the arena is not offered.

6. Pantheon: 45-minute guided tour, pre-booked ticket included

Rating 4.79 (1144 reviews) 45 min $33 per adult (base 2), guided tour with ticket included Instant confirmation Available 4 days out of 4

The Pantheon is one of the three products in the selection open all four days, along with the group Colosseum tour and the food tour, Easter Sunday included. This guided visit is the shortest in the lot, 45 minutes, with a pre-booked entry ticket, a live guide and an audio system. The price shown, $33 per adult for two, is that of the guided tour with the ticket included: we do not give a standalone entry price, because it is not readable on the official site. The meeting point is Piazza della Minerva, near the elephant statue, and the guide wears a purple t-shirt. The trap: 45 minutes is short. It is not a day out; it is a break between two visits, to fit in just before or after the Colosseum.

7. Food tour in the Vatican neighborhood, tastings and unlimited wine

Rating 4.95 (3873 reviews) 4 h $59 to $85 per adult (base 2) Instant confirmation Available 4 days out of 4

For a Holy Week lunch or dinner, this is a food experience open all four days. Four hours of Roman dishes tasted, free-flowing house wine, and a lunch or a dinner depending on the time slot you book. It is also the best rating in the selection: 4.95 out of 5 for more than 3,800 reviews. The price ranges from $59 to $85 per adult for two, depending on the option booked. Meet at Via Cipro 4, where the guide waits inside Café La Nicchia. What sets it apart: it takes place in the Vatican neighborhood without being a museum visit, so it does not get mixed up with Sistine Chapel time slots. The trap is the pace: it includes alcohol, and four hours of tasting do not fit well with a museum visit on the same day. Choose it on a day without a museum visit.

  • Free-flowing wine
  • Vatican neighborhood, away from the museums

Checked October 25, 2026. « Offered » means the provider opens the product that day, not that the official venue is open. Official 2027 hours have not been checked.

For transport, two metro stations come up in the listings. Ottaviano serves the Vatican: the office for the skip-the-line tour is an eight-minute walk from the station. Colosseo (line B) serves the Colosseum, the Forum and the Palatine, and is the meeting point for the arena and group tours. For the Pantheon, the meeting point is Piazza della Minerva. For the bike ride, the provider’s shop is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Colosseo station (line B).

Prices are per adult for two travelers, based on Viator checks on October 25, 2026. They may change before you book and are shown at checkout. Free cancellation applies to six of the seven listings. Only the group Colosseum tour, at $62, does not offer it: book it once your schedule is set.

For site access, check the official website of each venue before you go. Opening hours and entry conditions on public holidays have not been checked for 2027, and they are the reference.

Frequently asked questions

Which Vatican tour should I book on Good Friday, March 26, 2027?

All three Vatican tours selected are offered on March 26: the skip-the-line small group tour ($199 per adult for two), the early-morning semi-private group of six ($227) and the private tour with a Blue Badge guide ($377). All three can be cancelled free of charge. If your budget is tight, the skip-the-line tour is the cheapest of the three. See card 1.

Can you visit the Vatican on Easter Sunday, March 28, 2027?

Not with the three Vatican Museums tours selected: their provider does not offer them on March 28, according to the Viator check of October 25, 2026. The Vatican itself has not been verified for 2027: the official museum hours page could not be read. The group Colosseum tour, the food tour in the Vatican neighborhood and the Pantheon remain on offer all four days. Check the official site before you go.

Is the Colosseum open during Holy Week?

Viator’s Colosseum tours are offered during Holy Week, but not all of them. The group visit of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine, ticket included, is offered all four days. The visit with arena access is not offered on Good Friday, March 26. The official Archaeological Park hours for Good Friday 2027 have not been checked. Book the visit without free cancellation only once your schedule is set. See card 5.

How much does a day of experiences in Rome cost at Easter?

For two adults, prices per person range from $33 for the Pantheon (45-minute guided tour, ticket included) to $377 for the private Vatican tour. Group Colosseum tours range from $62 to $170, and the food tour from $59 to $85. Three of the seven experiences cost at least $154 per person in total (Pantheon, food tour and group Colosseum tour), and together they can exceed $600 (private Vatican tour, Colosseum arena and food tour: $632).

Should you book ahead for Easter 2027 in Rome?

The seven experiences checked are offered with instant confirmation, but availability is checked date by date and can change. The check does not measure demand: a product shown as sold out is only sold out on the day it was checked. Six of the seven offer free cancellation; only the group Colosseum tour at $62 does not. Book fixed-time slots as soon as your schedule is set, and keep the cancellation margin for the rest.

Is the Pantheon an entrance ticket or a guided tour?

In our selection, it is a 45-minute guided tour with a pre-booked entry ticket. Its price shown, $33 per adult for two, is that of this guided tour, ticket included. The price of entry alone is not listed here, because it is not readable on the official site. The Pantheon site announces free entry on the first Sunday of the month; March 28 is not a first Sunday of the month, and no official source we read confirms free entry that day, so it is not promised here. See card 6.
