Nine top-rated Viator day trips from Prague (4.7 stars or higher, 100+ reviews) start at $139 per adult for two travelers. Days run 8 to 13 hours with hotel pickup, and seven of nine offer free cancellation. Five go to Saxon or Bohemian Switzerland: choose by terrain. For the shortest travel time, pick the Kutná Hora train day.

Verified on via the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

Prague is an easy base for day trips. Pickup times vary by tour: on the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland day, pickup is between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m. depending on the option. The listings do not state the return time, so check it on the Viator page before you book. The choice is less about the destination and more about how long you want to spend on a coach, how much you want to walk, and whether a meal is included. This guide compares the nine day trips from Prague that met our quality floor: a Viator rating of at least 4.7 with at least 100 reviews. Every price is per adult for two travelers, checked on October 12, 2026 for departures between October 26 and December 24, 2026. We put the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland day trip first because it has the largest review base in the list.

Read this list for what it is. Five of the nine tours go to Saxon or Bohemian Switzerland, and Dresden is the main stop on two of them. Kutná Hora has two tours, Karlštejn Castle has one, Český Krumlov has one, and Terezín appears only inside a combined Bohemian Switzerland day. This is not a balanced survey of every day trip from Prague. Vienna is absent because the one-way tour in our search pool had a contradictory end point and was removed. No Bohemian Paradise tour made the list, and a Bohemian Switzerland tour with a larger review base was left out because it repeats the route of the first two.

Use the comparison table for a quick read, then the cards for the detail: what the day looks like, what is included, where the risks are, and who each tour suits. Prices and availability move, so treat the figures as a snapshot from October 12, 2026 and confirm the final price on the Viator page before you pay.

Why the Best Day Trips from Prague Cluster Where They Do

The nine tours fall into four destinations and one German add-on. Each has a different character, and the differences matter more than the ratings when you choose.

The first cluster is the sandstone country of northern Bohemia, known in English as Bohemian Switzerland, and its counterpart across the border, Saxon Switzerland. The national park is a landscape of rock towers, gorges and forest paths that sits on both sides of the Elbe. The tours in this cluster revolve around three landmarks: the Pravčická Gate, which one supplier describes as Europe’s largest natural sandstone arch, the Tisá Rocks, and the Bastei Bridge on the German side. Because the sights are spread out and the paths are real hiking, these are the most physical days in the list. Two of them are also the most flexible, with easy and custom versions available.

The second cluster is Kutná Hora, a silver-mining town in central Bohemia that the UNESCO World Heritage list has inscribed since 1995. Its best-known site is the Sedlec Ossuary, a chapel decorated with human bones, while the cathedral and the Italian Court in the town centre make up the rest of the visit. The train from Prague takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes, which makes Kutná Hora the easiest tour to reach from the city. Two of the nine tours serve it, one private and one small group, and both are long days that start with hotel pickup.

The third cluster is castles. Karlštejn Castle was founded by Charles IV in 1348 to protect the imperial regalia. It is the one tour in the list built around an interior visit rather than a landscape. Its Imperial Residence tour is included in the price, and the day adds a caves or Pilsner brewery stop depending on the option you pick.

The fourth destination is Český Krumlov, the southern Bohemian town, with the UNESCO village of Holašovice nearby. The tour in this list covers both places in one long day, and it is the only one of the nine that goes to southern Bohemia.

Dresden sits on the German side. The tours that include it cross the border by road, which is where the border notes in the practical section come in. Terezín, the fortress town the Nazis used as a ghetto and transit site, appears here only inside a combined tour that also covers the Narnia rocks and Bastei, which is a heavy mix of memorial and landscape in one day. Viator also sells a standalone Terezín day tour. We left it out because we could not verify its price for these dates.

Timing matters across all nine. The price window runs from October 26 to December 24, 2026, and several tours change with the season. The Dresden Christmas Markets variant runs only during the winter, one Dresden tour is open 28 of 60 days in the window and was left out for that reason, and the Karlštejn tour is open only 25 of 60 days. Check the calendar before you choose a tour, not after.

1. Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, Small Group

Rating 4.96 (4,092 reviews) 10 to 13 hours $189.51 to $194.51 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 58 of 60 days

This is the tour to choose if you want the full Bohemian Switzerland landscape in one long, well-fed day. It has the largest review base in our list, with 4,092 reviews, and the group is capped at eight guests in a minivan with Wi-Fi. The pickup window is early, between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m. depending on the option you pick, so set an alarm the night before. The day mixes walking on the sandstone paths with a proper lunch, and a breakfast snack pack and water are included. The listing offers five hiking variants, from a gentle walk to a winter hike, so match the option to your knees rather than to the photos. Gratuities for the guide and personal insurance are not included. A special-offer badge shows on the listing at the time of checking, so the price may move before you book.

  • Hotel pickup between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m., depending on the option
  • Breakfast snack pack and gourmet lunch, national park fees included
  • Free cancellation at least 24 hours before departure

2. Pravčická Gate, Tisá Rocks and Bastei Hike

Rating 4.99 (228 reviews) 10 to 12 hours $194.20 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 60 of 60 days

Pick this one when you want the three famous rock views without choosing between them. In one day you walk to Pravčická Gate, Tisá Rocks and Bastei Bridge, three of the main viewpoints in the area. It shares the top rating of 4.99 stars, but with 228 reviews its base is smaller than the first tour’s. Walking poles, antislip gear and rain jackets are part of the equipment included, which matters on wet sandstone in autumn and early winter. Pickup is anywhere around Prague, so ask for the closest point to your accommodation. This listing did not carry the free-cancellation flag when we checked, so read the cancellation terms on Viator before you pay. A private custom version runs alongside the group option, and it is the better choice if you want to set your own pace on the trail.

  • Three viewpoints: Pravčická Gate, Tisá Rocks, Bastei Bridge
  • Walking poles, antislip gear and rain jackets provided

3. Terezín, Narnia Rocks and Bastei

Rating 4.97 (497 reviews) 11 to 13 hours $215.90 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 58 of 60 days

Choose this tour if you want the Terezín memorial and the Bohemian Switzerland landscape in one day, and you accept a long, demanding schedule. Terezín was a ghetto and transit site during the Second World War, and the listing describes a guided visit of about two hours. The route then continues to the Narnia rocks and to Bastei, so the mood changes several times in one day. Hotel pickup and drop-off, a local guide, lunch, snacks, bottled water, coffee and tea are included. At $215.90 per adult for two travelers, the price covers the whole combined day. We did not confirm a standalone Terezín admission price, so do not read this figure as a ticket. Treat the memorial as a place of remembrance, not a stop for a quick photo. A private, tailored version is also listed, and free cancellation is flagged on this tour. The listing also allows cancellation for bad weather or low numbers.

  • Guided visit at the Terezín memorial, about two hours per the listing
  • Lunch, snacks, water, coffee or tea included
  • Free cancellation flagged on the listing

4. Karlštejn Castle and Caves or Pilsner Brewery

Rating 4.94 (333 reviews) 8 hours $181.63 to $204.48 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open only 25 of 60 days

Pick this one if you want a castle with a real interior rather than a view from the car park. Karlštejn was founded by Charles IV in 1348 to guard the imperial regalia, and the tour includes the entrance ticket and a guided visit of the Imperial Residence. At 8 hours it is the shortest full day in the list, and the second half of the day is either a caves visit or a Pilsner brewery, depending on the option you choose. A professional English-speaking driver and guide travels with a small group, and a traditional Czech lunch with main course, drink, coffee and dessert is included. Tipping is optional. The catch is the calendar: this tour runs on only 25 of the 60 days in our window, so check dates before anything else. Free cancellation is flagged. Secondary guides we read advise booking the interior tours in advance, because they sell out.

5. Kutná Hora Private Day Trip by Train

Rating 4.93 (149 reviews) 10 hours $154.79 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Private tour Open 50 of 60 days

This is the private option, and the easiest Kutná Hora day to plan around. The train from Prague takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes, and hotel pickup is included, so you do not have to find the station or the right platform yourself. Direct trains run about hourly and take about 52 minutes, according to Rome2Rio, so check the timetable for your day. The day covers the Sedlec Ossuary, the cathedral and the Italian Court in the town centre, and the Ossuary is a short walk from the station. Your guide is included, but food, drinks and gratuities are not, so budget for lunch. Two points to check before you book: free cancellation is not flagged on this listing, and confirmation is instant for most dates but can switch to manual. The price per person depends on group size, and this window was priced for two adults only, so a larger party will see a different figure. The tour is open 50 of the 60 days in the window.

  • Private: only your group on the day
  • Hotel pickup included; hotel drop-off not included
  • Food, drinks and gratuities not included

6. Kutná Hora, Bone Church and Folk Village

Rating 4.99 (114 reviews) 8 to 9 hours $158.78 to $318.71 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 55 of 60 days

Choose this tour if you want Kutná Hora at a slower pace than most group day trips. The group is small, with a maximum of eight people, and the listing is built around four included sites: the Bone Church, two cathedrals, and either a folk village museum or Český Šternberk Castle. The base option has no lunch, and a lunch add-on exists, so decide before you book rather than at the table. At 8 to 9 hours it is one of the shorter full days in the list, and its 4.99 rating is joint top of the set, although 114 reviews is a smaller sample than the others. The supplier, Czech Out Tours, also runs the Český Krumlov tour in the next card, with the same price range. We kept both because they are separate products with separate itineraries. Free cancellation is flagged. Travel and medical insurance is recommended but not included.

  • Four sites included: Bone Church, two cathedrals, folk museum or castle

7. Český Krumlov and Holašovice Village

Rating 4.98 (128 reviews) 10 to 11 hours $158.78 to $318.71 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 54 of 60 days

Pick this one if the southern Bohemian town is the reason you came to the Czech Republic. This tour adds the village of Holašovice, which the listing presents as a UNESCO village as well. The day runs 10 to 11 hours, which is longer than the Kutná Hora tour because it covers more ground. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with bottled water, Wi-Fi on board and a minivan. Lunch is included only in the +Lunch option, so check which version you are booking before you pay. The price range matches the Kutná Hora tour from the same operator, from $158.78 to $318.71 per adult for two travelers. The top of that range belongs to an option we could not identify from the price window, so check the option name on the Viator page. Free cancellation is flagged, and gratuities are not included.

8. Saxon Switzerland, Bastei Bridge and Dresden Old Town

Rating 4.96 (472 reviews) 9 to 10 hours $211.62 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Instant confirmation Open 60 of 60 days

This is the Saxony option: Bastei Bridge and the ruins of the Neurathen rock castle on the German side, plus a walk through the Dresden old town. A German lunch, with a main course and a drink, is included, which makes it one of the few tours in the list where the meal is part of the price. It is one of only two tours in the set open on all 60 days of the window. The listing describes a short 30-minute drive from Bastei to Dresden, so the day stays focused on the sights rather than on the road. It is priced at $211.62 per adult for two travelers, and free cancellation is flagged. A private custom version exists, and a separate Dresden Christmas Markets variant runs in the season, which matters because the window ends on December 24. Bring your passport: Dresden is in Germany, and the day crosses the border.

9. Dresden Old Town and Bastei Bridge, Door to Door

Rating 4.97 (122 reviews) 9 hours $139.00 per adult (based on 2 travelers) Private or small group Open 59 of 60 days

Choose this tour for the lowest per-person price in the list and for door-to-door pickup from your accommodation in Prague. At $139 per adult for two travelers, it is the lowest per-person floor we found, and the listing offers either a private or a small-group version depending on the option. The day covers the Bastei Bridge and a guided walk through the Dresden old town, followed by free time. Lunch is not included, so plan to buy your own, and the free time is the place to do it. Free cancellation is flagged. The listing carries a likely-to-sell-out badge, which means that in peak weeks it is worth booking early rather than late. The day lasts 9 hours and runs on 59 of the 60 days in the window. The trade-off is the border: the route crosses into Germany, where checks can add time at the crossing, so keep your passport within reach.

  • Door-to-door pickup from your accommodation in Prague
  • Lunch not included: free time to eat
  • Likely to sell out in peak weeks

On the Ground: Documents, Money and Booking

Most of the practical questions for these tours come down to four things: documents at the border, which days you can actually book, how much the day will cost beyond the listed price, and how long each day really runs. Start with the documents, because they change in 2026.

Passports and the border. US citizens do not need a visa for short stays in the Czech Republic or Germany. The general Schengen rule allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period, which covers any of these day trips with room to spare. The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since April 10, 2026. It records entries and exits digitally, and US travelers are not exempt: expect a photo and fingerprints taken at the border, and allow extra time on your first entry. Confirm the current Entry/Exit rules on the official EU page before you travel; the German government’s guide to digital registration is a useful starting point. The EU travel authorization, ETIAS, is not open yet. Recent reports point to a launch in 2027 with no firm date, so check the official EU site before you travel rather than relying on a date from this article.

Border checks to Germany. Dresden and Saxon Switzerland tours cross from the Czech Republic into Germany. Germany has had temporary controls on its land borders, including the Czech border, and reports say they were extended into 2027. We could not confirm the current status. Controls can add time at the crossing, so keep your passport accessible and do not book a tight connection at the end of the day.

Money. Viator quotes all prices in US dollars. Czech crowns (CZK) are used in the Czech Republic, and the euro is used in Germany. We did not fetch an exchange rate for this article, so we do not quote a conversion. Check whether your US card charges a foreign transaction fee on payments in Czech koruna or euros before you travel. Beyond the listed price, budget for lunch (not included on the Dresden door-to-door tour), food, drinks and gratuities (not included on the private Kutná Hora day), and tips, which five of the nine listings exclude.

Tipping. Gratuities are excluded on most of these tours, and the listings say so. Tipping a guide is customary in the Czech Republic but not mandatory. Treat it as a suggestion that you can scale to the service you received, not as a rule.

Booking and dates. Book the Karlštejn tour first if it matters to you, because it runs on only 25 of the 60 days in our window. The Kutná Hora private day and the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland day show 50 and 58 days open. Ask which day is closed before you choose the date, not after you have paid. On the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland tour, pickup times run from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. depending on the option; for several other tours, the supplier confirms the exact window after booking.

Who each tour suits. Families with children who will not walk for six hours should look at the Kutná Hora small-group tour, with its four included sites and a shorter day. Couples who want a quieter day can choose a private option: the Kutná Hora train day, the Dresden door-to-door tour, or the private custom versions listed on the Bohemian Switzerland and Saxony tours. Readers with limited mobility should avoid the hiking tours and choose a city-based day such as Kutná Hora. Several listings say the tour is not recommended for travelers with heart problems, so read the restrictions on the Viator page before booking. Infant seats are available on most listings.

Mistakes to avoid. Do not assume that every tour is free to cancel: two of the nine listings do not carry the flag. Do not quote a price for a group of four or six, because this window was priced for two adults only. Do not read the Terezín price in the combined tour as a ticket price. And do not plan a day trip that ends at the same time as the last train back to Prague without a buffer, because most of these tours already run close to the full day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which day trip from Prague has the best rating?

Two tours share the top rating of 4.99 stars: the Pravčická Gate, Tisá Rocks and Bastei hike with 228 reviews, and the small-group Kutná Hora and Bone Church tour with 114 reviews. The Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland day has the largest base, with 4,092 reviews at 4.96. A high rating on a smaller sample can move quickly, so read the most recent reviews on Viator before you decide. See the full comparison.

What is the shortest day trip from Prague?

By total length, the Karlštejn Castle tour is the shortest at 8 hours, and the small-group Kutná Hora tour runs 8 to 9 hours. For the shortest travel time, choose the private Kutná Hora day: direct trains take about 52 minutes and run roughly hourly, according to Rome2Rio. Every tour includes hotel pickup, but hotel drop-off is not included on the private Kutná Hora day, so plan on a full day whichever tour you pick.

Is Terezín included in a day trip from Prague?

Yes, but only inside a combined tour in this list. Viator also sells a standalone Terezín day tour, which we left out because we could not verify its price for these dates. The combined tour includes a guided visit of about two hours at the memorial and costs $215.90 per adult for two travelers. We did not confirm a standalone ticket price, so check the memorial’s own information before you travel.

Do US citizens need a visa or extra registration for these trips?

No visa is needed for short stays in the Czech Republic or Germany, where Schengen allows 90 days in any 180-day period. Since April 10, 2026, the EU Entry/Exit System records entries digitally, and US travelers have a photo and fingerprints taken at the border, so expect longer lines on the first entry. ETIAS is not yet open and is expected in 2027 with no firm date. Confirm the current rules on the official EU page before you travel.

Do the Dresden tours cross a border check?

Yes. The Dresden and Saxon Switzerland tours cross from the Czech Republic into Germany, and Germany has been running temporary controls on its land borders, including the Czech border. Reports say the controls were extended into 2027, but we could not confirm the current status. Controls can add time, so keep your passport within reach and allow a margin at the crossing.

Which of these day trips can I cancel for free?

Seven of the nine tours carry Viator’s free-cancellation flag at the time of checking: the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland day, the Terezín combined tour, the Karlštejn tour, both Czech Out Tours listings, the Saxon Switzerland and Dresden tour, and the Dresden door-to-door tour. Two do not carry it: the Pravčická Gate hike and the private Kutná Hora train day. On every listing, the standard policy gives a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure.
