The day trip most visitors should book first is the guided Murano and Burano boat visit: from $33.07 per adult for 2 travelers, 4 to 5 hours, rated 4.75 out of 5 from 2,636 reviews. This guide compares 10 bookable day trips in three families: the islands, the Prosecco wine hills and the Dolomites.

Verified on via the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

Venice is compact enough to cross on foot in an afternoon, yet most visitors still ask the same question: is a day trip worth the time, and which one? We checked the tours that leave Venice for a half day or a full day, using the Viator partner data as of October 16, 2026. We kept the products rated 4.7 or higher with at least 100 reviews, and we priced each one for two adults on dates from October 30 to December 28, 2026. Twelve passed those filters, and we kept ten. They fall into three families: the lagoon islands of Murano and Burano, the wine country of the Prosecco Hills, and the Dolomites in the mountains north of the city.

If you want one recommendation, start with the island visit. The Murano and Burano guided boat visit is the least expensive option at $33.07 per adult for two travelers, it runs four to five hours, and it has the largest number of reviews in the set. The three Prosecco tours ($169.00 to $199.00 per adult) cost more than the first four island options ($33.07 to $102.88) and less than the luxury private boat ($331.87). The mountain trips are the longest, at eight to nine hours in a vehicle, and they make the most sense if the Dolomites are the reason you are in Italy.

We made two editorial cuts. One mountain departure runs on only two dates in the window, so it is not a plan you can count on. Another product starts in Conegliano rather than Venice, which changes the logistics of the whole day. We also left out the in-city experiences, the sunset cruises and the glass workshops inside Venice. Those can be good options, but they are not day trips, and mixing them in would blur the comparison.

Read the table first for price, duration, rating, cancellation and open dates. Then read each card for its meeting point, what is included and what you pay extra for. Prices are in U.S. dollars, per adult for two travelers. The prices and open days in this guide are those recorded for departures from October 30 to December 28, 2026, and they change. Check your own dates before you book.

Why Take a Day Trip From Venice

A day trip is less about escaping crowds than about seeing a different kind of place. The lagoon offers the easiest change of scene. Murano is the island known for its glassmaking workshops, and Burano is known for its brightly painted houses and handmade lace. Both are reached by boat, so the crossing is part of the outing.

Inland, the Prosecco Hills are a wine landscape. The Italian tourism portal Italia.it describes the route between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene as part of a UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape. The page is in French, and we use it only for the destination facts. The wine tours in this article reach the hills by minivan. One of them visits two small family wineries. The wine is Prosecco, the name most visitors already know.

The Dolomites are a range of mountains in the Alps, and the day trip in card 9 aims for Lake Braies. The official parking page we read is dated 2025. It sets a restricted period from July 1 to September 15, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and says no reservation is needed from September 16, 2026. Confirm the current rules on the official page before you travel, and do not plan around a rule you have only seen in a blog.

Timing matters too, because open dates vary a lot inside the window. The Dolomites day trip in card 9 runs on 30 of the 60 days, the Prosecco half-day in card 6 on 50, the full-day Prosecco tour in card 8 on 48 and the wine tour in card 7 on 51. The four cheaper island tours and the minivan Dolomites trip in card 10 run on 59 of the 60 days, and the luxury boat in card 5 on all 60. Check the count for your date before you choose it.

Finally, the day-visitor fee. Venice has charged a fee on some day visitors in 2026. Press reports read on October 16, 2026, say the 2026 fee ended in late July and that a higher fee for 2027 is under discussion. We have not confirmed a 2027 amount. Press reports we read do not mention a day-visitor fee for autumn 2026, but the rules can change, so check the city’s official site before you travel.

1. Murano and Burano Guided Boat Visit

Rating 4.75 out of 5 (2636 reviews) 4 to 5 hours From $33.07 per adult (2 travelers)

This is the card we would book first. At $33.07 to $39.94 per adult for two travelers, it is the least expensive day trip in this comparison, and it has the most reviews: 2,636 at a 4.75 average. A boat leaves from the St. Mark’s area, crosses the lagoon and brings you back the same day. In Murano a guide walks you through the glass tradition, and in Burano you see the painted houses that give the island its reputation. The outing takes four to five hours. Choose it if you want both islands with a guide at the lowest price in the set. Skip it if you need hotel pickup, which is not included, and plan for lunch and drinks, which are extra. The supplier’s meeting point is a short walk from St. Mark’s along Riva degli Schiavoni, so confirm the exact spot on your booking. Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before departure.

  • Boat from St. Mark’s both ways
  • Guided visit of Murano and Burano
  • Lowest price and most reviews in the set

2. Murano and Burano Small-Group Boat Tour

Rating 4.78 out of 5 (1607 reviews) 4 hours 30 minutes From $45.00 per adult (2 travelers)

Choose this one if you want free time on the islands rather than a set route. The small-group tour takes four hours and 30 minutes on a private boat, and it includes free time on both Murano and Burano, plus a glassblowing demonstration. At $45.00 to $55.00 per adult for two travelers, it costs more than the visit in card 1 but far less than the private options that follow. Food and beverages are not included, so plan a lunch on Burano. The meeting point is in St. Mark’s Square, between the two columns on the south side near the canal. Look for the guide with a « The Tour Guy » sign and arrive 15 minutes early. With 1,607 reviews at 4.78, this tour has the second-largest review count in the set, which gives you a large sample of what other travelers thought.

  • Glassblowing demonstration included
  • Small group on a private boat

3. Semi-Private Murano and Burano With Transfer

Rating 4.76 out of 5 (602 reviews) 4 hours 30 minutes From $78.96 per adult (2 travelers)

This is the middle option in the islands group. The round-trip semi-private transfer is included, and the tour also includes a glassblowing demonstration, so the format is simple to plan. The tour takes four hours and 30 minutes. At $78.96 per adult for two travelers, it costs more than the small-group boat in card 2, so the case for it rests on the transfer and the semi-private format. Hotel pickup is not included, so you still walk to the meeting point at the Venice Tours Office, off Riva degli Schiavoni. It suits travelers who want a glass demonstration and a transfer without the full price of a private tour. The listing has 602 reviews at 4.76.

4. Private Murano Glassblowing Tour

Rating 4.78 out of 5 (1135 reviews) 3 hours From $102.42 per adult (2 travelers) Private tour

Pick this one when you have a morning and want a private guide. The tour lasts three hours, the shortest island option, and it starts on Riva degli Schiavoni, a few minutes’ walk from St. Mark’s Square. It includes a glassblowing demonstration on Murano, and a visit to Burano is an option you can choose rather than the default. At $102.42 to $102.88 per adult for two travelers, it costs about twice the small-group boat in card 2, and that difference buys you a private itinerary. Food and drinks are not included. The listing has 1,135 reviews at 4.78, the third-largest review count in the set. The trade-off is time: three hours is enough for Murano, and Burano fits only if you choose that option.

  • Glassblowing demonstration on Murano
  • Shortest island option, three hours

5. Luxury Private Murano and Burano Boat

Rating 4.92 out of 5 (214 reviews) 4 hours From $331.87 per adult (2 travelers) Private tour

This is the premium pick, and a fully private boat. The tour runs four hours with a private guide and private transportation. It includes a private visit to a glass factory with a glassblowing show on Murano, and a Burano cookie tasting. At $331.87 per adult for two travelers, or $663.74 for the pair, it costs about three times the private Murano tour in card 4, and it is the most expensive option in this comparison. It is also the highest-rated island tour, at 4.92 from 214 reviews. Gratuities are not included. The listing does not name a meeting point in the data we checked, so read the meeting point on the listing before you book. Choose it for a special occasion or for a group that wants the whole boat to itself. Skip it if the budget is the main question.

6. Small-Group Prosecco Half-Day

Rating 4.98 out of 5 (138 reviews) 4 hours From $169.00 per adult (2 travelers)

This is the highest-rated tour in the set, at 4.98, though it has 138 reviews, so read a few recent ones before you commit. It is a half-day format of about four hours, with a small group, an air-conditioned vehicle, a local English-speaking guide and a wine tasting. At $169.00 per adult for two travelers, it costs less than the full-day Prosecco tour in card 7. Gratuities are optional. It suits travelers who want a taste of the hills without giving up a full day. The supplier gives the meeting point as « in front of the Pullman bar ». That spot is not confirmed, so check it in your booking confirmation before you leave your hotel.

7. Exclusive Prosecco Wine Tour, Two Family Wineries

Rating 4.96 out of 5 (218 reviews) 6 hours From $199.00 per adult (2 travelers)

Choose this one for two family-run wineries in one day. The full-day format lasts six hours and includes visits and guided tastings at two small family wineries, with four wines at each stop, eight wines in total. At $199.00 per adult for two travelers, it costs more than the half-day tour in card 6 and about the same as the lunch tour in card 8. The main difference between the two full-day tours is the food: this one does not list lunch, while card 8 includes a light lunch and wine-pairing snacks. Gratuities are optional. The listing has 218 reviews at 4.96. The supplier gives the meeting point as « in front of the Pullman bar ». That spot is not confirmed, so check it in your booking confirmation before the day, and plan your transport home in advance.

8. Prosecco Wine Tour With Two Tastings and Lunch

Rating 4.95 out of 5 (396 reviews) 6 hours From $193.40 per adult (2 travelers)

This is the full-day wine tour with the most structure. A private minivan takes you to two wineries, with two tasting sessions of three glasses each, a light lunch and wine-pairing snacks. The day runs six hours. At $193.40 per adult for two travelers, it costs a little less than the exclusive tour in card 7 and includes more food. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, so the meeting point matters: the guide waits in front of Restaurant Al Vinatier at Piazzale Roma, holding a yellow TOUR sign. Piazzale Roma is the car terminal at the edge of the old city, separate from the train station and the airport, so plan your route in advance. It suits travelers who want lunch and a private vehicle on a wine day. The listing has 396 reviews at 4.95.

9. Dolomites, Cortina and Lake Braies Day Trip

Rating 4.90 out of 5 (514 reviews) 8 to 9 hours From $163.87 per adult (2 travelers)

This is the all-day mountain option, and it covers Lake Braies, Cortina d’Ampezzo and the Dolomites in one day. The tour runs eight to nine hours. The supplier gives a meeting time of 7:45 a.m. at Piazzale Roma, in front of Hotel Santa Chiara or Koko Bar, near the taxi office, so plan an early start from your hotel. The vehicle has WiFi on board, and a guide travels with the group. Lunch is not included, so pack one and bring water. A winter snowmobile ride is excluded from December until the end of the winter season, so do not count on snow activities. At $163.87 to $204.84 per adult for two travelers, it costs less than the luxury boat in card 5.The official Lake Braies parking page we read is dated 2025, so check the current rules before you go. Choose it if Lake Braies is the reason for the day and you can start at 7:45 a.m. Skip it if you want a relaxed day, since it runs on only 30 of the 60 days in the window.

Practical Tips on the Ground

Choose the departure point first. The island tours start from the St. Mark’s Square area or the waterfront on Riva degli Schiavoni, which is often within walking distance of central hotels. The mountain tours and the minivan wine tour in card 8 start at Piazzale Roma, the car terminal at the edge of the old city, which is separate from the railway station and the airport. If you arrive by train or plane, leave extra time for the transfer before a 7:45 a.m. departure. Two wine tours, cards 6 and 7, list « in front of the Pullman bar » as the meeting point, so check that spot in your booking confirmation.

Check the public boat before you go. Fares and timetables are not in our data, so check the operator’s site before you go.

Do not plan your day around a glass demonstration. Press sources describe free glassblowing demonstrations on Murano, and several tours in this comparison include one. Their schedules change, so treat a free demonstration as a bonus. If you want to be sure of one, choose a tour that lists it in the inclusions.

Pack for food and a long day. Lunch is excluded from both mountain tours, and food and drinks are excluded from most island tours. Bring a snack for the boat. The Dolomites tours run eight to nine hours, so bring layers, a warm jacket and water.

Check gratuities and cancellation. Gratuities are not included on the luxury boat, and they are optional on the two Prosecco tours in cards 6 and 7, so read the exclusions before you add a tip to your budget. All 10 products in the comparison offer a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure, which helps if your plans change. That refund covers your own cancellation. Some tours, including the small-group boat in card 2 and the Dolomites day trip in card 9, can also be cancelled by the operator for bad weather, so read the cancellation terms on the listing before you book. Keep your booking confirmation, since it is the reference for the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which day trip from Venice has the most reviews?

The guided Murano and Burano boat visit has the most reviews in this comparison: 2,636 at a 4.75 average, starting at $33.07 per adult for two travelers. The highest rating belongs to the small-group Prosecco half-day in card 6, at 4.98, but it has 138 reviews, so the sample is smaller. For most first-time visitors, the larger sample is the more useful signal. See the details.

How much does a day trip from Venice cost per person?

The lowest price in this comparison is $33.07 per adult for the Murano and Burano guided visit, and the highest is $331.87 per adult for the luxury private boat. All prices are per adult for two travelers, so a different group size changes the total. The Prosecco and Dolomites products fall between $163.87 and $204.84 per adult.

Is the Murano and Burano visit worth it for a day in Venice?

For most visitors, yes. It covers both islands in four to five hours and costs less than most other options in this comparison. Murano is known for its glass, and Burano for its painted houses. If you have one day outside the city and want a guide, this tour gives you the most for the money. Choose a smaller group or a private tour if you want more free time on the islands or a more personal pace.

How early do I need to leave for the Dolomites?

Plan for an early start. The mountain tours in this comparison run eight to nine hours, and the Lake Braies tour in card 9 gives a meeting time of 7:45 a.m. at Piazzale Roma. Lunch is not included on either mountain tour, and the winter snowmobile ride in card 9 is excluded. Check the official Lake Braies parking page before you travel, because the version we read is dated 2025. See the Lake Braies tour.

Do I have to pay a fee to visit Venice on a day trip?

Venice has charged a fee on some day visitors in 2026. Press reports say the 2026 fee ended in late July and that a higher fee for 2027 is under discussion. We have not confirmed a 2027 amount. Press reports we read do not mention a day-visitor fee for autumn 2026, but the rules can change, so check the city’s official site before you travel.

Which tour should I pick on a small budget?

Start with the Murano and Burano guided visit at $33.07 per adult, or the small-group boat at $45.00 to $55.00 per adult. Both depart from the St. Mark’s Square area, and both offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Leave the luxury, private and mountain options for a trip where the budget allows them, and compare the price per adult with your own group size before you book.
