On February 6, 2027, the first day of Lunar New Year, eight selected experiences are open for booking in Hong Kong, with “from” prices of €26.76 to €194.90 per adult (two travelers). Several of the city’s best-rated experiences are closed that day, and the price check does not say why. None of the eight includes a parade or fireworks.

Checked on on the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

On February 6, 2027, Hong Kong enters Lunar New Year on a public holiday Saturday. I wanted to know what actually runs that day, because many offers that carry the festival’s name refer to 2026 or to a parade with no official programme. So I went through the city’s Viator experiences one by one and checked them for February 6.

The picture is tight: several of the city’s best-rated experiences are closed on February 6. Among those I checked that are still open that day, I kept the eight best rated, leaving aside one experience over €900 for two and a Lantau visit rated 4.54, the lowest of the group. The first filter, which kept experiences rated at least 4.7 with at least 100 reviews, gave only six experiences open that day, so I completed the list with a second filter (at least 4.5 and at least 50 reviews). Two of the eight come from this second level: the tea workshop and the Dragon’s Back hike, flagged in their cards. The first is a private visit with a local host, lasting 2 to 8 hours depending on the package, from €81.52 per adult.

Two points matter before you read on. First, none of these experiences promises the parade or the fireworks: no 2027 parade has been announced, and the fireworks, planned for Sunday, February 7, are not included in any Viator booking on this list. Second, eight experiences is not many: two have fewer than 100 reviews, one workshop is open only on February 6 within the window, and two are all sales final. I flag each of these conditions in the relevant card, so you do not discover them at checkout.

The rest of the article gives the official calendar first, then a table to compare the eight experiences, and one card per experience with what it offers, who it suits and its catch. Prices are per adult for two travelers. They were checked on October 22, 2026 and may change before your trip; the check date also appears below the table.

Why February 6 is unlike any other day

Lunar New Year follows the lunar calendar, and its first day falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027. In Hong Kong it is a public holiday, as are Monday, February 8, the third day of the festival, and Tuesday, February 9, which replaces Sunday, February 7. The official list from the Labour Department therefore gives four days off in a row, from Saturday, February 6 to Tuesday, February 9. The list was made public on May 15, 2026, as The Standard reported.

The fireworks are the second big event, and they do not fall on the 6th. A government notice published in September 2026 seeks sponsors for the 2027 Chinese New Year fireworks display, planned for Sunday, February 7, with a sponsor application deadline of September 28, 2026. If you want an evening devoted to fireworks, look at the 7th, and no time or venue had been confirmed at the date of the check.

For the parade, no 2027 programme had been found or published at the time of this check. In 2026, the parade took place on Tuesday, February 17, the first day of the festival, with twelve floats in Tsim Sha Tsui, according to RTHK. It could return on February 6, 2027, but nothing announces it. The Viator products that offered a parade or fireworks for 2026 are now inactive: none can be booked yet, and no experience in this article promises a parade.

Attendance is the last unknown. I publish no visitor figures, because none of the sources I consulted gives a usable one. What can be measured here is the availability of the experiences themselves, and that is where the analysis starts.

The picture is tight. Several of the city’s best-rated experiences are closed on February 6. The Viator interface does not give the reason for each closure: it does not distinguish sold-out capacity from a decision by the operator. That is why this article writes “unavailable for booking” and never “sold out.” All eight selected experiences were checked across the four days of the window.

1. Private tour with a local: highlights and hidden gems

Rating 4.93 (650 reviews) 2 to 8 hours depending on the package from €81.52 per adult (2 travelers), range €81.52 to €270.37 depending on the package Instant confirmation Private tour Available 4 days out of 4

This is the card to pick if you are discovering Hong Kong and want a day shaped to you rather than a photo circuit. A local host builds the walk around your interests: Cat Street, the old neighborhoods and addresses off the usual route. You choose the starting point, your hotel or a central meeting point, and the pace stays yours. What sets it apart from group visits is that flexibility: you say what interests you and can change direction along the way. The catch: the duration is not fixed, and runs from 2 to 8 hours depending on the package. Specify what you want when you book, and keep the 8 a.m. slot, which was open on February 6 at my check.

  • Local host, private and personalized visit
  • Full refund up to 24 hours before departure
  • Accessibility for reduced mobility as listed by Viator

2. MingCha tea workshop in Chai Wan

Rating 4.93 (61 reviews) 90 min from €58.18 per adult (2 travelers) Available 1 day out of 4: February 6

This is the calmest experience on the list, and the most fragile on the calendar. It is open only on February 6 within the February 6 to 9 window: if your plans do not fall on that day, this workshop is not for you. Vivian Mak, founder of MingCha, leads a 90-minute session on tea classification (green, red, oolong), production and brewing in a gaiwan. The approach is sensory: you look, touch, smell, then taste. It suits anyone who wants to leave street-level tourism without physical effort, or a break after a day outdoors. The catch: the 4.93 rating rests on only 61 reviews, and booking is not instant. The meeting point is Chai Wan station, exit C. It comes from the second selection tier of this article. On February 6, only one departure is open (11 a.m.).

  • Open on February 6 only within the February 6 to 9 window
  • Guided tasting and sensory approach
  • Free cancellation shown on the listing

3. Tin Hau food tour: hidden restaurants and tastings

Rating 4.92 (412 reviews) 180 min €144.10 per adult (2 travelers), the only option open on February 6 Available 4 days out of 4

For people who love to eat and want to understand the cuisine before ordering it themselves, this is the densest outing on the list. Three hours with local experts, specialties and spots that residents know. The thread mixes cuisines from northern and southern China, which shows how the two meet in Hong Kong. The meeting point is exit A1 of Tin Hau MTR station, on King’s Road. The catch: on February 6, only the €144.10 per adult option is open, and tips are not included. Budget for them on top, and choose your slot according to your February 6 plans.

  • Tips not included

4. Private Mercedes-Benz tour: one guide, one car, your pace

Rating 4.92 (159 reviews) 270 min from €180.81 per adult (2 travelers) Private tour Available 4 days out of 4

This card suits anyone who wants a programme without managing transport: an air-conditioned car, a guide, and an itinerary built around your preferences. There are no connections to watch for, which can suit families and small groups who want to limit walking. The departure is normally at 8 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. depending on the listing, and the 8 a.m. slot was open on February 6. Two things to keep in mind: beyond five people, a second vehicle or a quote is needed, and booking is not instant. The listing also provides for cancellation in case of bad weather, which lets you book early without closing the door if the weather turns.

  • Private air-conditioned vehicle
  • Departure at 8 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. depending on the listing
  • Full refund 24 hours before, or in case of bad weather

5. Chinese dumpling class with a market walk

Rating 4.89 (100 reviews) 150 min from €89.36 per adult (2 travelers) Available 4 days out of 4

If you want to bring back more than a photo, this class is for you. It starts with a walk through the market with the host, then moves to the table: shaping, cooking and tasting, following a family recipe. It suits couples, cooking enthusiasts, and anyone who prefers learning a gesture to watching it. The slot checked for February 6 starts at 6 p.m.; with a duration of 150 minutes, the class ends around 8:30 p.m. The meeting point is Jordan station, exit A, so plan your trip home from there. On February 6, only one departure is open (6 p.m.).

6. Dragon’s Back hike to Big Wave Bay

Rating 4.82 (61 reviews) 300 min from €106.58 per adult (2 travelers) Available 4 days out of 4

For people who love walking, this is the outing that changes landscape the most in half a day. A guide leads you along the ridges and through the island’s forests to Big Wave Bay beach, over about five hours. It is not an hour-long stroll: it is not recommended for people with back or heart problems, and you should bring good shoes and water. The catch is the cancellation terms. The booking is all sales final, with no refund, so confirm your date and your fitness before paying. The meeting point is Shau Kei Wan MTR station, exit A3, and the 4.82 rating rests on 61 reviews. It also belongs to the second selection tier. On February 6, only one departure is open (10 a.m.).

7. Private limousine tour with driver-guide: Aberdeen and Stanley

Rating 4.78 (135 reviews) 360 min from €194.90 per adult (2 travelers), range €194.90 to €382.81 depending on the package Private tour Available 4 days out of 4

This card suits anyone who wants to see the south of the island without spending the day in transport: a private limousine, a local driver-guide, and six highlights, including the Aberdeen fishing village and the Stanley market. You choose the departure time when booking; the 9 a.m. slot was open on February 6 at the check. Six hours is a long day. Compare it with the Aberdeen boat trip in card 8 if you only want the fishing village. The catch to avoid is booking it without checking the duration. Six hours is a long day, and it has to fit your schedule.

  • Departure time of your choice
  • Six highlights, including Aberdeen and Stanley
  • Full refund 24 hours before, or in case of bad weather

8. Boat trip to the Aberdeen fishing village

Rating 4.77 (212 reviews) 60 to 180 min depending on the package from €26.76 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation Available 4 days out of 4

This is the least expensive outing on the list, and one of the easiest to fit into a morning. A wooden boat takes you to the Aberdeen fishing village from the water, including a visit to the Aberdeen Houseboat, a floating museum. Drinks and sachima are included; the meal depends on the package chosen: fish noodles, seafood, or none. It is a good option to end a day of sightseeing on the water, or for a quieter afternoon. The catch: it is all sales final, so there is no refund, and you must be at the dock ten minutes before departure. The 4.77 rating rests on 212 reviews, and the 10:25 a.m. slot was open on February 6.

Practical tips on the ground

On February 6, your programme revolves around the metro. Meeting points are at one exact station: Tin Hau exit A1 for the food tour, Jordan exit A for the dumpling class, Chai Wan exit C for the tea workshop, and Shau Kei Wan exit A3 for the hike. Note them in your phone before you leave, and check the exact place on each product page, which can be your hotel for some private formulas.

Saturday 6, Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 are public holidays, according to the official list cited above. The tea workshop is open only on the 6th within the window checked: do not schedule it for another day.

Good news for a trip that runs into the weekend: seven of the eight experiences remain open on February 7, 8 and 9, according to the same check. Only the tea workshop is limited to the 6th. You can therefore build your programme starting on the 6th, then keep the private tours, the Aberdeen boat trip and the hike for the following days.

For payments, bring some small bills for tips, which are not included in the food tour.

Finally, the fireworks on February 7 are announced by an official notice that specifies neither the time nor the location. If you want to see them, scout your viewpoint the day before and allow a margin for the trip back. None of the eight experiences in this article is for that show: plan the evening of the 7th separately.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Viator experiences open on February 6, 2027 in Hong Kong?

All eight experiences in this article are open for booking on February 6, 2027, according to the Viator check of October 22, 2026. Several of the city’s best-rated tours, however, are not open that day, and the check does not say why. An opening checked more than three months in advance is not a guarantee: confirm the slot when you pay. See the table.

Will there be a Lunar New Year parade in 2027?

No 2027 parade programme had been announced at the time of the check. The 2026 parade took place on Tuesday, February 17, the first day of the festival, with twelve floats in Tsim Sha Tsui. Nothing therefore confirms that it will take place on February 6, 2027. None of the experiences on this list promises a parade, and the Viator products that offered one for 2026 can no longer be booked.

When are the Lunar New Year fireworks in 2027?

The fireworks are planned for Sunday, February 7, 2027, the second day of the festival, not the 6th. An official notice published in September 2026 seeks sponsors, with a sponsor application deadline of September 28, 2026. The notice specifies neither the time nor the location. Check the official announcements before planning your evening around the show.

Why are some experiences closed on February 6?

The Viator interface does not distinguish sold-out capacity from a closure decided by the operator, and the check does not give the reason for each closure. It covers the window from February 6 to 9 only. That is why this article writes “unavailable for booking” and never “sold out.”

Which price should you expect for these experiences?

Prices are given per adult, for two travelers, over the window from February 6 to 9, 2027. Each experience shows a “from” price: from €26.76 to €194.90 depending on the experience, and some packages cost more. These are prices checked for two adults, not the catalogue minimum across all age bands. The final amount is the one shown at the time of booking.

Can these bookings be cancelled?

Six of the eight experiences offer free cancellation according to their listings, often up to 24 hours before departure. Two are all sales final, with no refund: the Dragon’s Back hike and the Aberdeen boat trip. The policy shown when you pay governs, because it can change before your trip.

Can these experiences be done on February 7, 8 and 9?

Seven of the eight experiences remain open on February 7, 8 and 9, according to the same check. Only the Chai Wan tea workshop is limited to February 6 within the window. For a programme that runs into the weekend, the private tour and the Aberdeen boat trip remain the easiest to fit in.
