Tivoli’s Christmas season in Copenhagen runs from 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Tickets are dated and non-refundable. The Ride Pass does not give access to the gardens. No 2026 entry price is confirmed, and the 24 December closure is disputed: check tivoli.dk.

Checked on against the official sources cited (tivoli.dk, Visit Copenhagen, Shop Copenhagen Card).

Tivoli turns into a Christmas village for seven weeks, and the question people ask most is simple: how much does it cost, and when should you book? Founded in 1843 in the heart of Copenhagen, the park draws visitors every winter who want its decorations and lights. This article answers from official pages checked on 18 October 2026, and separates what is confirmed from what isn’t.

1. Dates: 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027

A seven-week season, confirmed by official pages

13 Nov 2026 to 3 Jan 2027 0 to 4 °C in December About 7 hours of daylight

The start and end dates appear on the homepage banner of tivoli.dk, on the park’s season page, on the Tivoli listing of the Shop Copenhagen Card and on the Visit Copenhagen page about Christmas at Tivoli. The four sources agree. Some sections of these same pages still repeat the text from the previous season (14 November 2025 to 4 January 2026). That is the main source of error when you skim these pages, which is why you should always cite the 2026-2027 banners.

What to see at Tivoli at Christmas? According to Copenhagen Tourism and tivoli.dk (2025 activities, to be reconfirmed for 2026): the Elf Train, the Forest Carousel, the Santa Train and Santa Claus. The ice rink is included in the entry ticket (Copenhagen Tourism).

  • Dates: 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, confirmed by several official or near-official sources.
  • Opening hours: they vary by day and period. The 2025-2026 guides give 11 am to 10 or 11 pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 11 am to midnight on Friday and Saturday (previous season, not confirmed for 2026). Check the exact day on tivoli.dk before you go.
  • Decorations: for the 2025 season, Copenhagen Tourism cites more than a million lights, 70,000 decorations and about 1,000 Christmas trees.

Outside Tivoli, a Viator Christmas tasting experience in Copenhagen is offered from €65 per person (base 2 adults), with 30 available dates out of 52 between 13 November 2026 and 3 January 2027. It is not a Tivoli ticket. It is an option to add to your Christmas stay in Copenhagen. For duration and cancellation terms, see the Viator listing.

Pixidia tip: don’t lock in your flight or hotel on a date taken from an old guide. Guides for the 2025-2026 season, and some official pages that haven’t been updated, still show the old dates.

2. Tickets: the dated-ticket rule

A dated ticket, which can only be changed once

Most guides skip the key point: the ticket is dated, it is scanned at the entrance, and it cannot be refunded. The official shop says undated tickets are no longer sold. So this is not a last-minute option: choose your day before you buy.

A Package ticket can change date only once per purchase, up to 14 days after the planned date. The official FAQ says the change is made in person, at a ticket desk in the park. Keep this in mind if your plans depend on the weather or a flight.

  • Buying: on tivoli.dk or the official shop, shop.tivoli.dk. Warnings circulate about fake ticket sites.
  • Ride Pass: it gives access to the rides, but not to entry into the gardens. It is bought separately, or in a combined package.
  • Entry time: entry tickets go up after 6 pm. The price therefore also depends on the time you come in.
  • Fridays with Friday Rock: rides close at 10 pm, and entry can close earlier if maximum capacity is reached.
Pixidia tip: to leave and come back on the same day, ask for the re-entry stamp at the exit near the Tivoli Food Hall. The stamp is not issued during big events, so if you plan to have dinner outside, check the day of your visit.

3. Prices: what is confirmed and what isn’t

No 2026 entry price confirmed on an official page

On the date we checked, the official ticket shop showed no readable 2026 price. Prices vary by visit date and entry time. The amounts most often cited come from Copenhagen Tourism (year not specified) and from third-party 2026 guides: DKK 200 to 210 for an adult according to Copenhagen Tourism, up to DKK 230 according to some guides, and DKK 100 to 115 for a child aged 3 to 7 according to 2026 guides (not confirmed). They are given here as a rough guide only, to be checked at the ticket desk before you buy.

Prices from the previous season are firmer. Visit Copenhagen and VisitDenmark list DKK 180 to 200 for an adult and DKK 90 to 100 for a child aged 3 to 7 in 2025-2026. The adult Ride Pass at DKK 299 comes from a calendar dated April 2025: it does not apply to 2026.

For conversions, €1 is worth about DKK 7.47, according to an indicative rate from August 2026. The krone is pegged to the euro, so its rate barely moves, but the rate on the day still matters on a tight budget.

Two passes are worth comparing. The Tivoli Pass, from DKK 449 for a year or DKK 529 for a single use (undated prices), gives free entry during the summer, Halloween and Christmas seasons. It makes sense if you visit several times a year, which is rarely the case for a Christmas trip. The Copenhagen Card, whose DISCOVER package starts at DKK 589, includes transport from the airport. Its Tivoli listing says the card covers a single visit and that the Ride Pass must still be bought separately. Don’t assume entry is included: check what your package covers before you buy.

4. Budget: a family day, costed out

Assumption: two adults, a five-year-old and a simple meal

This calculation uses the indicative prices in the previous section, plus the 2025 adult Ride Pass. It excludes the child’s Ride Pass, hot drinks and transport. The total is an order of magnitude, not a quote: redo it with the ticket shop’s prices on the day you buy.

Two levers cut the bill. Entering before 6 pm avoids the higher entry price. If you are only after the atmosphere, half a day is enough, and the Ride Pass becomes unnecessary.

  • Saving: an entry ticket alone, without a Ride Pass, for a visit focused on the decorations and the market.
  • Saving: the neighbouring Nytorv and Gammeltorv markets, with free entry, as a complement to the paid visit.
  • Food: a budget meal costs DKK 140 to 160 per person according to Visit Copenhagen (2025-2026).
Pixidia tip: if your stay includes several museums and transport, work out whether the Copenhagen Card pays off before you buy it. For a single visit to Tivoli, compare its total cost with single tickets.

Eating on site: what is sourced

Here is what the sources checked on 18 October 2026 say. Unconfirmed prices are flagged as such.

  • Food Hall: the re-entry stamp is collected near its exit. No price was found for this season.
  • Hotel Nimb: direct access to the park, Christmas table from 15 November to 5 January. Prices are not confirmed and the sources we checked contradict each other, so we don’t give figures.
  • Glassalen: the park’s restaurant, with a seasonal Christmas menu. Its 2026 price was not found.
  • Budget meal: DKK 140 to 160 per person according to Visit Copenhagen (2025-2026).
  • Hikari: the five restaurants in the Japanese quarter, already mentioned above.

5. Getting there: airport, station and city centre

A park five minutes’ walk from the centre

The park is less than five minutes’ walk from Copenhagen Central Station, Vesterport and Copenhagen City Hall, according to the official FAQ. The address to enter in your GPS is Vesterbrogade 3, Copenhagen. Public transport serves the entrances directly, by bus, metro and train.

From the airport, Visit Copenhagen gives about 15 minutes by train to Copenhagen Central Station (København H), for DKK 30 under the fare updated in October 2026. Check whether this fare also applies to children. The M2 metro is the other option: it runs to Nørreport in about 13 to 15 minutes, then you change at Kongens Nytorv for the M3 or M4. Its exact route has not been checked against Movia’s official map, so check it on the day you travel. According to guides, a taxi costs DKK 250 to 400, an estimate that has not been verified.

If you are coming by train from Central Europe, our guide to the new night train routes covers the connections.

  • Central station: less than five minutes’ walk, free.
  • Airport: about 15 minutes by train, DKK 30 according to Visit Copenhagen.
  • Taxi: DKK 250 to 400, estimate not officially verified.

6. New in 2026: the Hikari quarter

Hikari, a Japanese quarter that opened in mid-August 2026

Hikari takes over the park’s former Asian area, over 2,000 m². It has been open since mid-August 2026, according to Tivoli’s half-year report, but the exact date has not been published. An Euronews report dated 19 August 2026 describes it as a district of neon and lanterns.

The quarter has three rides, two of them new. The Demon has been restyled, while The Typhoon’s Eye and Hotel Hikari are new. Five restaurants join them: Kawaii Bites, Oishii Bubbles, Comé Rice Kitchen, Katsu Kitchen and Yaki-Tak!.

  • Rides: The Demon (restyled), The Typhoon’s Eye (new) and Hotel Hikari (new).
  • Food: five restaurants, including Katsu Kitchen and Kawaii Bites, open since mid-August 2026.
  • Christmas: no programme specific to Hikari is announced on the pages we checked.
Pixidia tip: the Ride Pass opens the Hikari rides, but it doesn’t replace the entry ticket. Book your dated ticket before you try to reach the Japanese quarter.

7. Plan the visit around your travel style

Family walking along an illuminated path in winter

Half a day for the atmosphere, a full day for the rides

Visitors tend to agree: half a day is enough for the decorations and the atmosphere, while a full day is needed to enjoy the rides and activities. This is not an official duration, just a rough guide drawn from travel guides.

For the plan, arrive in the late afternoon. You see the decorations by daylight, then the lights come on at dusk: guides put this around 3:30 to 4 pm in December. The earliest sunset falls around 3:40 pm on 14 and 15 December 2026. Bring warm clothes (a coat, a hat, gloves) and waterproof shoes, as the cobblestones can be slippery and snow is never guaranteed.

  • Family: choose a weekday and enter before 6 pm, then leave free time for the season’s activities.
  • Couple: go in the evening, after 6 pm, for the lights, accepting a pricier entry ticket.
  • Tight budget: weekday entry, the free Nytorv and Gammeltorv markets, and only half a day.
  • First visit: a dated ticket bought in advance, and a backup plan in case the cold or rain spoils the end of the day.

Three mistakes to avoid: thinking the Ride Pass gives access to the park, arriving on a Friday evening without a dated ticket, and underestimating the cold, which hovers around 0 to 4 °C in December. For a different side of the city, the Nørrebro district deserves a morning, away from the season’s decorations. The Nytorv and Gammeltorv market, about 10 minutes’ walk from the park (estimate), runs from 6 November to 21 December 2026 with free entry, a free ice rink and free skate hire (julemarked.dk). The Rådhuspladsen market, from 11 to 20 December 2026, is only confirmed by a partial source. To compare with another Nordic capital, see our guide Christmas in Stockholm 2026.

What other guides don’t tell you

Six points checked against official sources, missing or wrong in most of the guides we read. Each one links to its source and its date of consultation.

  • The ticket is dated and non-refundable. The official tivoli.dk FAQ says so, and the official shop states that undated tickets are no longer sold. tivoli.dk ticket FAQ (checked on 18 October 2026).
  • The Ride Pass does not include entry to the gardens. This distinction is missing from several online summaries we read for this article. tivoli.dk ticket FAQ (checked on 18 October 2026).
  • Entry goes up after 6 pm, and rides close at 10 pm on Fridays with Friday Rock. Entry can also close earlier if maximum capacity is reached. tivoli.dk ticket FAQ (checked on 18 October 2026).
  • Re-entry goes through the Food Hall, and the stamp is not issued during big events. Guides talk about « leaving and coming back » without giving the rule. tivoli.dk ticket FAQ (checked on 18 October 2026).
  • Hikari opened in mid-August 2026, with three rides, two of them new, and five restaurants. It did not exist during the 2025 season. Hikari page on tivoli.dk (checked on 18 October 2026).

Frequently asked questions about Tivoli at Christmas

Tivoli Copenhagen prices, how much does it cost at Christmas?

No 2026 price is confirmed on any official page as of 18 October 2026. The indicative amounts are DKK 200 to 210 for an adult according to Copenhagen Tourism (year not specified), up to DKK 230 according to some 2026 guides, and DKK 100 to 115 for a child aged 3 to 7 according to 2026 guides. In 2025-2026, Visit Copenhagen listed DKK 180 to 200 for an adult. Prices vary by date and entry time: check the exact fare on tivoli.dk before you buy.

Tivoli Copenhagen opening hours, what time does the park open?

Hours vary by day and period, and no 2026 park hours are confirmed on a readable official page. The contact page on tivoli.dk shows the hours of a service centre, which are not the park’s. On Fridays with Friday Rock, rides close at 10 pm. Check the exact day on tivoli.dk.

Tivoli Copenhagen opening dates, which dates?

The 2026 Christmas season runs from 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. These dates appear on the tivoli.dk banner, on the seasons page, on the Copenhagen Card listing and on Visit Copenhagen. Some sections of these pages still carry the 2025-2026 season text, from 14 November 2025 to 4 January 2026: ignore it.

Is Tivoli open on 24 December?

The answer is not settled. The ticket shop and several 2026 guides say it closes on 24 December 2026, while Copenhagen Tourism mentions a closure in the afternoon of 24 and 25 December. The ticket shop does not mention the 25th: this is a disagreement between sources, which we flag without settling. Check the ticket page on tivoli.dk for both days before setting your date, and plan an alternative.

Is there a New Year’s Eve fireworks show at Tivoli?

The official Tivoli page for New Year’s Eve mentions a festive evening and fireworks for the last night of the year. The time of the fireworks and the programme are not confirmed on the page as checked on 18 October 2026. Check tivoli.dk before you plan your 31 December evening.

Tivoli Copenhagen tickets, how do I buy them?

Buy on tivoli.dk or in the official shop. The ticket is dated, scanned at the entrance and non-refundable. One date change is possible per Package ticket purchase, up to 14 days after the planned date, in person at a ticket desk in the park. Undated tickets are no longer sold. Beware of fake ticket sites.

Does the Ride Pass give access to the park entry?

No. The Ride Pass gives access to the rides, but not to entry into the gardens, according to the official FAQ. You therefore need a separate entry ticket, or a combined entry and Ride Pass package. That combined package is listed at DKK 409 to 449, not confirmed for 2026. The adult Ride Pass reference price was DKK 299 in April 2025.

Does the Copenhagen Card include Tivoli?

The Tivoli listing on the Copenhagen Card shop says the card covers a single visit, without presenting entry as included: don’t assume it is. The DISCOVER package starts at DKK 589 and includes transport from the airport. Check the details of your package before you buy.

How do I get to Tivoli Copenhagen from the airport?

The train to Copenhagen Central Station takes about 15 minutes according to Visit Copenhagen, for DKK 30. The M2 metro is an alternative with a change, whose route still needs checking on the Movia map. From the central station, the park is less than five minutes’ walk away.

Are Tivoli Copenhagen reviews good, is it worth the trip?

Reviews are mostly positive about the atmosphere, the decorations and the lights. Criticisms focus on queues and on prices during the Christmas period. They come from a compilation of reviews published by The Local in 2023, so read them with caution.
