Eight tours from Bergen are still bookable in November and December 2026. Seven go to the Nærøyfjord, Flåm or Mostraumen. The fourth is a private cruise with no fixed destination. The 3.5-hour Mostraumen cruise costs €81.41 per adult for two travelers.
Checked on on the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).
A traveler arriving in Bergen in November or December often asks a simple question: which fjord trip is worth doing, and which one is worth the money? The season changes the problem. According to the calendar published by Visit Bergen, Mostraumen cruises and the Nærøyfjord visit are still listed beyond November, with different end dates: late December for Mostraumen, and the end of April 2027 for the Nærøyfjord and Flåm.
We reviewed the eight Viator listings departing from Bergen, with their rating, their number of reviews and the dates bookable between November 1 and December 30, 2026. The first five have a rating of at least 4.7 and more than 150 reviews. The last three, with between 50 and 90 reviews, are options still available, not safe bets.
Three criteria decide the choice. Price first: €81.41 per adult for two travelers on the 3.5-hour Mostraumen cruise, and €3,078.48 for two travelers on the private cruise in card 7, which charters the whole boat. Then duration: from two hours (card 4, private cruise) to twelve hours for the full day by coach with lunch (card 5). Finally, the group: some listings reserve the boat for your group (cards 4 and 7), while others are group excursions. The card 8 listing is titled « private tour », but it specifies « group of 15 people maximum or private »: we flag this in its card.
If you want a quick answer, the guided tour of the Nærøyfjord and Flåm is the most reviewed listing in the set, with 1,188 reviews, for a full day. Below, the background comes first, then a comparison table and the eight listings, followed by practical tips, frequently asked questions and sources.
What the Nærøyfjord and Mostraumen add to a trip from Bergen
The Nærøyfjord is part of the « West Norwegian Fjords (Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord) » property, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2005. According to Riksantikvaren, the Norwegian heritage authority, the property covers 122,712 hectares, including 10,746 hectares of sea. It rests on two criteria: the beauty of its landscapes and its geological value. This is the fjord you see from the boat, and from the Stegastein lookout above the Flåm valley.
Mostraumen is a narrow strait at the end of the Osterfjord, east of Bergen. Visit Bergen describes it as a « narrow Mostraumen strait ». The cruises on the list that go that far announce 3.5 to 8 hours, and several pass through Modalen. Do not confuse the two destinations: Mostraumen is not the Nærøyfjord, and the cruise to the strait is not advertised as calling at Flåm.

The Visit Bergen calendar for 2026-2027 is used here as a reference. Mostraumen cruises are announced until December 31, 2026, and the Nærøyfjord and Flåm visit until April 30, 2027. A rigid-inflatable safari to Mostraumen, reserved for groups, is also announced from November 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027; it is not part of this selection.

Prices and availability checked on the Viator partner API on October 18, 2026 for the period November 1 to December 30, 2026; they may change. Price per adult for two travelers, except card 7: its rate is that of the chartered boat for the group (€3,078.48 for two travelers). The rating is the aggregate available in the API, which combines Viator and TripAdvisor reviews.
The 8 Bergen tours, ranked by number of reviews

1. Nærøyfjord, Flåm and Stegastein by minibus
This tour is the most reviewed on the list, with 1,188 reviews, and the only one confirmed by hand: the date is secured only after the supplier replies, so allow for that before you block your day. Departure is in front of the Tourist Information office at Strandkaien 1, near the Scandic Hotel Torget, where a black Mercedes Sprinter minibus waits. The vehicle is air-conditioned, the driver also acts as a guide, and the Nærøyfjord cruise ticket is included. What sets this option apart is the Stegastein lookout above the Flåm valley, and a full eleven-hour day for a single price. Lunch is not included: bring something to eat. A late arrival is not refunded, and the supplier asks you to arrive ten minutes early. This format suits a first visit to the area, with nothing to organize on site. The trap to avoid: the title mentions a two-hour cruise, but the rest of the day is spent in a minibus.
- Air-conditioned minibus with driver-guide
- Nærøyfjord cruise ticket included
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure

2. Viking Village, Nærøyfjord and the Flåm Railway
This option adds a cultural stop to the cruise: a guided visit of the Njardarheimr Viking Village, then the cruise on the Nærøyfjord and the Flåm Railway. The day lasts ten and a half hours, and confirmation is instant. Meet at the Guided Fjord Tours office, Strandkaien 16, where the guide waits for you. It is the most expensive group option on the list, at €386.72 per adult, or €773.44 for two travelers. It is worth it if the cultural visit matters as much as the fjord. For the Nærøyfjord alone, cards 1 and 5 cost less. The Flåm Railway is in the program, but no winter timetable was published on the date of our check: do not rely on any timetable found elsewhere, and ask the supplier for details before booking. For whom: travelers who want to combine a cultural site and fjord scenery in a single day.
- Guided visit of the Njardarheimr Viking Village
- Flåm Railway included in the program
- Free cancellation noted

3. Mostraumen fjord cruise with a live guide
This is the most affordable outing on the list for seeing Mostraumen: €81.41 per adult for two travelers, a round trip of about three and a half hours, and a live guide on board. Departure is from the Zachariasbryggen quay in Bergen. The boat passes through Modalen, then the straits, and the live guide accompanies the navigation. Wi-Fi is on board. If you travel with a bike, ask for permission before booking: it is not carried without prior request. The listing has 380 reviews, which gives the 4.79 rating real weight. The trap is confusing Mostraumen with the Nærøyfjord: this cruise is not advertised as calling at Flåm or the Stegastein. Choose it if you have half a day, want a guide, and do not want to organize a train.
- Live guide on board
- Wi-Fi on board
- Free cancellation noted

4. Private cruise by Zodiac or luxury pontoon
For a group that wants its own boat, this listing offers a fjord cruise by Zodiac or on a luxury pontoon. The duration runs from two to ten hours, and the price follows the duration: from €63 to €509.90 per adult for two travelers. A transfer by car or train to the fjord is included, with pickup at your hotel or at the Bergen port. Thermal suits are provided, and the return is guaranteed. With 177 reviews for a 4.82 rating, this is the most reviewed private listing in the set. Departure is from a floating pontoon near the Olivia restaurant, on Shoreline quay. The listing asks you to use the toilet just before boarding. The trap is the price range: do not compare the lowest price with another listing before you have fixed the duration. Choose this option for schedule freedom rather than for budget.
- Boat reserved for your group
- Thermal suit provided
- Pickup at the hotel or the port

5. Nærøyfjord, Flåm and Stegastein by bus, light lunch
The coach version of the Nærøyfjord day. The air-conditioned bus takes you to Flåm, where you board the two-hour cruise on the Nærøyfjord, with a stop at the Stegastein lookout and a visit to the village. A light lunch, wrap or baguette, is included; snacks are not. At twelve hours, this is the longest day on the list, and departure is early: meet at 7:30 at the bus stop near the fast-boat terminal at Strandkaiterminalen, for a departure at 7:45 according to the supplier. The bus may park a little further away, in the same area. The guide speaks English. For whom: travelers who want a full day by coach without organizing connections. The trap: a 7:30 meeting time for a twelve-hour day. The listing has 160 reviews for a 4.75 rating.
- Air-conditioned bus transport
- Light lunch included
- English-speaking local guide

6. Half-day fjord cruise to Mostraumen
A half-day on the Rødne Fjord, from Bergen to Mostraumen, through the Osterfjord and the straits. The listing gives 3.5 hours, and Visit Bergen gives 3 hours for the same cruise: plan for about three and a half hours. Access to the upper deck and an audio guide are included, with Wi-Fi and toilets on board. Food and drinks are not included: bring them or buy them on board. Departure is from the Zachariasbryggen quay, near the fish market. With 81 reviews, the 4.73 rating is a signal to weigh carefully, not a guarantee. For whom: travelers who want a short outing with an audio guide rather than a live guide. The trap is comparing this cruise with card 3: both leave from the same quay and head for Mostraumen, but card 3 adds a guide on board.
- Access to the upper deck
- Audio guide included
- Free cancellation noted

7. Private cruise to Modalen and Mostraumen
A private boat for your group alone, six to eight hours, to Modalen and Mostraumen and its waterfalls. Like card 4, this option reserves the boat for your group. Departure is in front of the Bergen tourist office and fish market, or at a point agreed with the operator. Drinks and snacks are included: water, soda, coffee or tea, wine or beer, and Wi-Fi on board. Lunch is not included, but the Modalen cafeteria is an option. The rate is €3,078.48 for two travelers: that is the price of the chartered boat, not a per-person price in the usual sense. Check what it covers before booking. The 5.00 rating rests on 55 reviews, a small sample that cannot show whether the service is consistent. For whom: a group that wants its own timetable and its own boat. The trap is comparing this rate with a group cruise without checking what it includes.
- Boat reserved for your group
- Drinks and snacks included
- Free cancellation noted

8. Golden Circle minibus to Mostraumen, 15 people max
Watch the title: the Viator listing uses the word « private », but it specifies « Group of 15 people maximum or private ». Viator’s API classifies this listing as a non-private tour: the minibus can take up to fifteen people and is in principle shared, to be confirmed before payment. The day lasts five hours and ten minutes, with a driver, a local guide and the fuel surcharge included. Lunch is not included. Departure is from Bergen’s cruise port at Jekteviken, meeting point 3 « AIDA », a three-minute walk from the terminal, around 8:30 according to the supplier. The vehicle is a white Ford Transit or a grey Mercedes Sprinter. The listing mentions waterfalls more than 200 feet high, about 60 meters. With 51 reviews, the 4.53 rating is the lowest on the list: weigh it. For whom: a traveler who arrives at the cruise port and wants a small-group excursion without organizing transport.
- Minibus with driver and local guide
- Fuel surcharge included
- Free cancellation noted

Meeting points. Cards 1, 2 and 5 leave from the city centre, near Strandkaien; cards 3 and 6 from the Zachariasbryggen quay; card 8 from the Jekteviken cruise port. Cards 4 and 7 have their own meeting point. Note the exact point on your listing before you leave.
Confirmation. Only one listing is confirmed by hand: card 1. The others confirm instantly, according to the October 18, 2026 check. An instant confirmation does not replace re-reading the date and departure time, especially for the options that start at 7:30 or 8:30.
Closed days. Between November 1 and December 30, 2026, some listings are closed for booking: card 1, on December 12, 13 and 24; card 2, on November 2, 5 and 30, then on December 1, 3, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15 and 24; card 3, on December 24; card 5, on December 7, 14, 24 and 25; card 7, on November 12, then on December 24, 25, 29 and 30. Cards 4, 6 and 8 are open every day. December 24 closes five of the eight listings: check your date before you pay.
Cold. Days are short, and stops often happen outdoors: bring a warm layer, a windproof jacket and shoes with good grip.

The Flåm Railway. Card 2 includes the train, and card 5 takes you there by coach. No winter timetable is published: do not plan a connection based on a timetable found elsewhere, and ask the supplier for details.
Prices. Prices are per adult for two travelers, according to the October 18, 2026 check, except card 7: its chartered-boat rate is given for two travelers. The price ranges for cards 1 and 4 depend on the date and the duration. We did not record any child rate: check it on the listing before booking.
For a family. Durations run from 3.5 hours (cards 3 and 6) to 12 hours (card 5); card 2 lasts 10.5 hours. We did not record any age requirement or child rate: check them on the listing before booking.
For a small budget. Cards 3 and 6 are the cheapest group outings, at about €81 to €86 per adult for two travelers, for a half-day. Card 3 has a live guide, card 6 an audio guide.
For a first visit. Card 1 combines a guide, the Stegastein lookout and a day of about eleven hours, with nothing to organize on site. Card 5 offers the same scenery with a light lunch, for one more hour.
Reduced mobility. Our file contains no verified information on the accessibility of vehicles, boats or quays. Write to the supplier before booking, stating your need, and do not assume anything from the absence of information on the listing.
Frequently asked questions
Which Bergen tour should I take to see the Nærøyfjord in one day?
Card 1 is the most reviewed, with 1,188 reviews: minibus, two-hour cruise and Stegastein lookout, for eleven hours in total, from €257.33 per adult. It is confirmed by hand. If you prefer a coach and a light lunch, card 5 covers the same route in twelve hours, at €295.61 per adult.
Can you do the Hardangerfjord from Bergen in November or December?
Not in this selection. The Hardangerfjord excursions checked for this period do not meet our criteria, which require a rating of at least 4.5 and 50 reviews. This article therefore does not present them. If the Hardangerfjord is your goal, check it separately with the operator, stating your date.
Does the Flåm Railway run in November and December?
We cannot confirm it. The 2026-2027 winter timetable was not published on the official Flåmsbana website on the date of our check, October 18, 2026. We therefore give no frequency. Card 2 includes the Flåm Railway; ask the supplier for the timetable on your date before booking.
What is the difference between a private listing and a group tour?
A private listing reserves the boat or vehicle for your group only, as cards 4 and 7 do. A group listing shares the vehicle with other travelers. Card 8 is called a « private tour » on Viator, but its listing specifies « group of 15 people maximum or private »: the API classifies it as a non-private tour, and the minibus is in principle shared. Confirm it before you pay.
What does manual confirmation mean?
Card 1 is the only listing with manual confirmation: you do not receive an immediate confirmation, and the date is secured only after the supplier replies. Book early, and keep a fallback if your date is fixed. The other seven listings confirm instantly, according to the October 18, 2026 check.
Are meals and extra costs included?
Only card 5 includes a light lunch. Card 7 includes snacks, drinks and coffee, but no meal on board. For the others, plan to bring something to eat. Extra costs, such as the fuel surcharge for card 8 which is already included, vary by listing: read the list of inclusions before you pay.
