The National Finals Rodeo 2026 runs from 3 to 12 December 2026 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, with ten nights starting at 5:45 p.m. local time. AXS is the only official ticket seller: a balcony seat costs $130.50 at face value, and NFR Access ONLY costs $80.
Checked on against the official sources cited in this article.
The National Finals Rodeo is the season finale of professional rodeo in the United States, and its 41st edition takes place in Las Vegas. For a European visitor, the real questions are practical: when to get to the arena, how to buy a ticket without overpaying, how much to budget and how to get back to the Strip at night. Buy through AXS, the official partner since 5 August 2026. Several guides, and one tourism board page, still point to Ticketmaster.
1. Dates, times and the 2026 programme

Ten nights, 3 to 12 December 2026
Every performance starts at 5:45 p.m. Las Vegas time, according to the official performance schedule. That page says « 5:45 p.m. » without naming the time zone; a third-party guide confirms it is Pacific Time, and adds that the main gates open at 4:15 p.m. The end time is not published. Guides estimate about three hours after the start, but treat that as an estimate, not an official time.
What to know
- The free NFR Express shuttles leave partner hotels from 4 p.m. That is the useful window if you want to arrive before the start.
- The mini-packages, which covered the first four or the last six nights, are sold out.
- The PRCA standings are not final: the official qualifiers are not known as of this article.
The rodeo takes place in the evening. If you want a horseback ride in the Old West during your stay, Viator offers a sunset ride with transport from the Strip and a cowboy dinner by the campfire, « weather permitting, » according to the product description. It is not a rodeo ticket. Checked on 21 October 2026, the ride runs nine days out of ten between 3 and 12 December (it is closed on 11 December) and lasts five hours. Book it on a day other than your arena night.

2. Tickets: AXS is the only official seller
Since the announcement of 5 August 2026, AXS has been the exclusive ticketing partner of the NFR, for the primary sale as well as the official resale. Season ticket holders and Fan-to-Fan announcements opened on 12 August. The general public could buy from 13 August at 12 p.m. Pacific Time, and NFR Access ONLY opened on 20 August at the same time, according to the organiser’s press release and the official FAQ.
The mini-packages are sold out. The FAQ also lists packs of 4 and 6 nights in the balcony, without saying whether they match the mini-packages: their availability is not confirmed. It does not publish any price for the seated stands either, so this article does not give one.
| Product | Price | Terms | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balcony, one night | $130.50 | face value, excluding resale | on sale since 13 August 2026; stock per night not verified |
| Balcony, 4-night pack | $522 | works out to $130.50 per night | not confirmed, check on AXS; not guaranteed |
| Balcony, 6-night pack | $783 | works out to $130.50 per night | not confirmed, check on AXS; not guaranteed |
| NFR Access ONLY, one night | $80 | all-inclusive, no seat, non-refundable | on sale since 20 August 2026 |
| Mini-packages | sold out | first 4 or last 6 nights, cannot be split | sold out (official FAQ) |
| Cowboy Christmas | free | 3 to 12 December, Las Vegas Convention Center | free entry, no ticket needed |
Source: official NFR ticket FAQ, checked on 21 October 2026. Prices exclude resale.
NFR Access ONLY gives access to the arena and designated areas, without an assigned seat. According to the FAQ, the price is all-inclusive, and the ticket is non-refundable. It is worth comparing with the balcony if budget matters and an assigned seat is not essential.
Third-party resellers, outside AXS, show variable prices that rise and fall with demand. We have not checked those prices: the only sourced reference is AXS’s price, $130.50 for the balcony.
3. The NFR explained for a European visitor

Seven events, ten nights, a standing decided on earnings
The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the PRCA’s annual finale. The PRCA is the main professional rodeo association in the United States. Seven events are contested: bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing (reserved for women). Points and earnings across the ten nights add up, and the title is decided over the whole series.
Qualifiers are, in principle, the top fifteen in each event at the end of the regular season standings. The 2026 standings were not final on 21 October, so the exact list is still to be confirmed.
What to know before you go
- A ride usually lasts less than ten seconds, and roping events are over in a few seconds, according to the guides we read. The evening strings together many short moments.
- Many fans dress in western wear and join in with the announcer. Fan guides describe a more family-friendly atmosphere than a typical sports match, but no study backs this up.
The NFR is set to stay in Las Vegas until 2035, according to an approval from the LVCVA, the city’s tourism authority, reported by the press in April 2024 for a spend of $33.5 million. This comes from press coverage, not an official announcement.
No 2026 qualification by a French competitor had been verified as of this article, and the PRCA’s final standings are not published: this article therefore names nobody.
Alongside the rodeo, Cowboy Christmas is a Western culture trade show (clothing, boots, saddles, crafts, music) held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in the South Halls. Entry is free, and the official hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., from 3 to 12 December. It is a good reason to stay two or three days on site.
4. Where to stay: hotels and 2026 offers

Where to sleep during NFR week
NFR week is in high demand. None of the hotels we checked has published a 2026 nightly rate. One press report gave about $400 a night for the first weekend of the 2023 edition: an old order of magnitude, not a 2026 price.
Two official offers exist. Read the terms before you book, because travel dates, minimum stays and minimum age differ from one hotel to another.
- Virgin Hotels Las Vegas: up to 25% off and a one-time $50 food and beverage credit per stay, two-night minimum, 21 years old minimum, flexible cancellation up to 72 hours before arrival.
- Caesars Rewards: an extra 10% off at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Harrah’s and Horseshoe, subject to availability and blackout dates that are not published.
| Hotel or group | Discount | Eligible stays | Booking | Terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Virgin Hotels Las Vegas | up to 25%, plus a one-time $50 food and beverage credit | 4 to 12 December 2026 | not specified | 2-night minimum, 21 years old minimum, flexible cancellation up to 72 hours |
| Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Harrah’s, Horseshoe | 10% extra | 1 to 13 December 2026 | until 11 December 2026 | subject to availability and restrictions |
Sources: Virgin Hotels Las Vegas offer and Caesars Rewards offer, checked on 21 October 2026.
Hotels on the Strip and near the UNLV campus are the most in demand. The arena is about 4 km from the Strip, and walking from the Strip is not advised.
5. Getting to the Thomas & Mack Center
The arena sits on the UNLV campus, away from the Strip. The monorail does not serve it. There are three options: the free NFR Express shuttle from partner hotels, a taxi or rideshare, or a car, with very limited parking.
NFR Express runs 14 routes and comes roughly every 15 minutes, according to lasvegashowto.com. Sources disagree on the number of hotels served (23, 24 or « about 24 »): check the list on the official site on the day you travel. If your hotel is not served, guides suggest walking to a nearby hotel that is.
| Mode | Cost | Pickup point or note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi from Harry Reid | flat rate by zone, $21 or $22 depending on the article read | main entrance roundabout on NFR nights | UNLV, lasvegashowto.com |
| NFR Express shuttle | free | partner hotels, departures from 4 p.m., returns until 9:45 p.m., no service between 6 and 8:15 p.m. | Caesars page, lasvegashowto.com |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) | variable | airport pickup areas, arena zones depending on the night | lasvegashowto.com |
| Parking | $30 per vehicle per night | very limited spaces | lasvegashowto.com |
| Bus 108 or 201 | fare not confirmed | stop near the arena | lasvegashowto.com |
Sources: lasvegashowto.com transport guide (third-party), UNLV’s pickup and drop-off page and Caesars’ shuttle page, checked on 21 October 2026.
What you need to know about the taxi
From Harry Reid airport, taxis charge a flat rate by zone. The sources we read give $21 or $22 depending on the section: the exact amount still needs confirming, and the most precise figure comes from a third-party guide (lasvegashowto.com), not an official source.
A third-party source dated 9 May 2026 (vegasalways.com) gives $21.25 for zone 1. It is not official either, but it serves as a reference point. The airport surcharge is not priced in the sources we read, so the final fare may be above $21 to $22. Ask the driver for the fare before you get in. The monorail is not an option, as it does not serve the arena.
6. Budget: the costs to work out
Only sourced amounts appear here. Everything else has to be checked with the hotel, the transport provider or the organiser.
- Ticket: $130.50 for one balcony night, or $80 for NFR Access ONLY, at 2026 face value. The 4- and 6-night packs ($522 and $783) are not confirmed: see the table in section 2.
- Accommodation: no 2026 rate published; resort fees not priced (see section 4).
- Transport: NFR Express shuttle is free; airport taxi $21 or $22 per ride, airport surcharge not priced; parking $30 per vehicle per night.
- Entry formalities: ESTA, about $40 per traveller (see the FAQ).
- Flights, meals, return taxi: not priced in this article.
- Leisure: Cowboy Christmas is free; the horseback ride from section 1 is offered at €145 per adult (Viator, checked on 21 October 2026).
Example for one person: $130.50 for a balcony seat, plus about $40 for the ESTA and $21 to $22 for the taxi there, which comes to roughly $191.50 to $192.50, before the airport surcharge, flights, meals and the return taxi. With NFR Access ONLY, the total falls to about $141 to $142 on the same basis. Sharing a taxi between travellers lowers each share.
The comparison covers two options: the balcony at $130.50 a night, with a seat, and NFR Access ONLY at $80 all-inclusive, without a seat and non-refundable. The balcony’s refund terms are not detailed on the pages we read. The FAQ publishes no seated-stand price. Also read the cancellation terms of each hotel offer, which are not the same.
7. By traveller type
- First time: book the balcony for a seat, and leave early to make the most of the shuttle from 4 p.m.
- Tight budget: NFR Access ONLY cuts the cost, but without a seat. Cowboy Christmas is free, so you can have a day with no entry costs.
- Couple: one rodeo evening and one horseback ride on another day makes a well-balanced plan.
- Family: the age policy for children is not published on the pages we read. Check the official FAQ before you buy.
- Reduced mobility: we have not verified any accessibility information for the Thomas & Mack Center in the sources we read. Write to the organiser before you buy.
A possible evening at the rodeo
Leave the hotel from 4 p.m. on the shuttle, to reach the arena before the 4:15 p.m. gate opening if traffic allows, then take your seat before 5:45 p.m. For the return, the shuttle does not run between 6 and 8:15 p.m.: if you leave the arena during that window, book a taxi or a rideshare. The end time is not published, so leave yourself a margin on the way back.
What other guides don’t tell you
Online guides often repeat the same information. Here are six points checked against official sources, which several guides leave out or give with outdated figures.
- The ticketing channel has changed. Since 5 August 2026, AXS has been the only ticketing partner of the NFR, including for the official resale. The tourism board page still links to Ticketmaster, which does not match this agreement. AXS press release of 5 August 2026 (checked on 21 October 2026).
- NFR Access ONLY. A $80 ticket, all-inclusive, gives access to the arena without a seat, and it cannot be refunded. Few guides describe it in these terms. Official ticket FAQ (checked on 21 October 2026).
- Prices have changed. The balcony is $130.50 a night in 2026; third-party sites still quote older prices, around $100. Official ticket FAQ (checked on 21 October 2026).
- The shuttle pauses. NFR Express does not run between 6 and 8:15 p.m., during the performance. Guides do not always mention it. Caesars page on NFR 2026 (checked on 21 October 2026).
- The ESTA went up. According to press reports, the fee rose from $21 to $40 at the end of September 2025. Check the exact amount on the official site before you apply. US Customs and Border Protection, ESTA.
- Cowboy Christmas is free. Entry is free at the Las Vegas Convention Center, from 3 to 12 December. Official Cowboy Christmas page (checked on 21 October 2026). The tourism board page still shows the 2025 dates (visitlasvegas.com/nfr, checked on 21 October 2026).
Practical info: eSIM and insurance
An eSIM connects you as soon as you land, so you don’t have to look for a SIM card. It covers the shuttle, rideshares and mobile tickets. Pick the plan that matches the length of your stay.
Pricing depends on the plan and lengthA stay in the United States means checking your cover for medical costs. Compare the guarantees and the limits before you leave.
Price depends on length and ageFrequently asked questions about NFR 2026
What are the dates of the 2026 National Finals Rodeo?
NFR 2026 runs from Thursday 3 to Saturday 12 December 2026, over ten consecutive nights at the Thomas & Mack Center, on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas. Every performance starts at 5:45 p.m. local time, according to the official performance schedule. The end time is not published.
Where can I buy official tickets?
Only on AXS, the exclusive ticketing partner since 5 August 2026, which also runs the official Fan-to-Fan resale. General sales opened on 13 August at 12 p.m. Pacific Time. To avoid fake tickets, which Nevada authorities have flagged, do not buy from individuals you meet on social media.
How much does a seat cost?
At 2026 face value, a balcony seat costs $130.50 for one night, and NFR Access ONLY costs $80 all-inclusive, with no seat and no refund. Seated-stand prices are not published in the official FAQ. Third-party resellers show variable prices with no guarantee of authenticity: the official price comes from AXS.
Can I attend the NFR without a ticket?
Yes, for Cowboy Christmas, a Western culture trade show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Entry is free, the official hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the show runs from 3 to 12 December 2026. The rodeo itself requires a ticket, including NFR Access ONLY.
How do I get to the Thomas & Mack Center from the Strip?
The free NFR Express shuttle leaves partner hotels from 4 p.m., with returns until 9:45 p.m., and does not run between 6 and 8:15 p.m. Walking from the Strip is not advised, as the arena is about 4 km away on the UNLV campus. Parking costs $30 per vehicle per night, with very few spaces.
Do French visitors need a visa for the NFR?
No visa is needed for a stay of up to 90 days, but French citizens need an ESTA travel authorisation. According to press reports, the fee rose to $40 at the end of September 2025, up from $21. Apply only on the official US Customs and Border Protection site, esta.cbp.dhs.gov, and check the exact amount there before you pay. The authorisation is valid for two years, or until your passport expires if that comes sooner.
Is rodeo cruel to animals?
It is a sensitive question, and this article does not settle it. Animal welfare groups criticise bull riding and calf roping. Read the rules published by the organiser before you decide to go.
