Ten Niagara Falls tours can be booked for November and December 2026, from $70.89 to $339.24 per adult (based on 2 travelers). The Maid of the Mist boat closes on November 8: packages that promise it switch to Journey Behind the Falls, which is open all year. The two-side day covers both sides of the falls.

Want to see Niagara Falls in November or December? Good news: most tours still run, with one important caveat. The Maid of the Mist boat, which takes visitors to the foot of the falls on the American side, makes its last departure on Sunday, November 8, 2026. It will not reopen until 2027, on a date not yet published. Online rankings still describe Niagara as a summer destination, with boat, cave and panoramic tower. From November, it is no longer quite the same trip.
So I went back through the tours you can still book for November 1 to December 30, 2026, and checked them one by one. Ten pass the filter: a combined rating of at least 4.7 out of 5, more than 100 reviews, and at least 44 open days out of 60 in the window. For most of them, the boat is no longer the only attraction: when it closes, the operator offers Journey Behind the Falls, a walk behind the cascade that stays open all year. Some listings still promise the boat without giving a date. I flag those cases each time.
The thread comes down to one question: what can you book for your dates, and what changes when an attraction closes? The two-side day tour remains the most complete option: the boat for the season, then Journey Behind the Falls, the cave and the Skylon Tower. Further down, you will find the season explained, a table of the ten options, a card for each tour with what it includes, the best time to go and the pitfall to avoid, then the practical section (passport, tips, opening hours). Prices are for two adults, in US dollars, checked on October 18, 2026; they can change before your trip.
Why the Season Changes Everything at Niagara Falls
The falls sit on the border between New York State and Ontario, and each side tells a different visit. On the Canadian side, Horseshoe Falls offers the most head-on view. On the American side, the falls are narrower and the approach brings you closer to the shore. Many tours on this list cross the border: plan for it, because the crossing takes time.

The boat is the symbol of the visit. Maid of the Mist states on its schedule and pricing page that the 2026 season ends on Sunday, November 8, with departures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from November 1 to 8. The operator’s page gives no reopening date for 2027. After November 8, a boat ticket on the American side can no longer be honored. The tours on this list that mention the boat fall into two groups: those that replace it when it is not running, and those that sell it without giving a date. The first are safe; for the second, I tell you each time what to check.
The fallback is Journey Behind the Falls. Niagara Parks lists it as open all year, with a self-guided visit of about one hour, timed tickets, and a recommendation to arrive at least one hour before closing. The official page did not show a month-by-month timetable when I checked: look at the site for your exact date. Renovations are planned before 2028, and the attraction is to stay open during that work.
Niagara’s winter festival calls for caution. For the 2025-2026 edition, Skylon Tower announced fireworks on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., from November 15 to December 20. The 2026-2027 calendar had not been published when this article was written: I therefore leave it out of every listing here, and you should not take it for granted.
Skylon Tower lists hours of 8 a.m. to midnight, every day, on its contact page. That page is not dated: confirm the slot before you go, especially for December.
Wine takes over in autumn and winter. The Niagara-on-the-Lake wine route runs all year, and tastings are the best answer for a November trip. The icewine festival takes place in January and February according to regional tourism sources: it falls outside the window, but it is worth noting for a winter trip.

The 10 Niagara Falls Tours to Book, Card by Card

1. Both sides of the falls in one day
Best for. Anyone with one day who does not want to miss anything. This six-hour tour covers both sides of the border, with a cave, the Skylon Tower and a walk to the foot of the falls. What sets it apart from most tours: pickup is at a hotel near the falls, not in Toronto or Buffalo. The combined rating, 4.95 out of 5 across more than 10,000 reviews, is the strongest on this list. The boat is on the itinerary, with one caveat: it is replaced by Journey Behind the Falls when it is not running, and it does not run after November 8.
Best timing. A date between November 1 and 8 if the boat matters to you. Otherwise, any December day except December 25, which has no departure in the listing.
The catch. Assuming the boat is guaranteed. The operator says it is replaced when it is not running: ask before booking which program is planned for your date.
- Pickup at a hotel near the falls
- Cave or World Changed Here pavilion, depending on the season
- Meals and guide tips not included

2. Canadian side, boat and Skylon Tower
Best for. Someone who already knows the American view and wants to see the horseshoe falls up close. Six hours on the Canadian side, with a return to Skylon Tower and a walk behind the falls. The listing offers two variants, « summer and autumn » and « winter »: that explains the range of $164.95 to $169.95 per adult. The listing does not say which variant applies to which date. Ask the operator before paying, because the boat is not guaranteed in winter. Transport from Toronto or Buffalo is not included.
Best timing. The first half of November if you want the boat. After November 8, Journey Behind the Falls takes its place.
The catch. Assuming transport is included. Hotels in Toronto and Buffalo are excluded: plan your own trip to the meeting point, the Continental Pancake House.
- Pickup at a hotel near the falls
- Border fees, tolls and bridge charges included
- Return to Skylon Tower

3. Premium van, behind the falls
Best for. Someone who wants the most complete program in little time. In four hours, an air-conditioned Mercedes van drives you, you walk behind the falls without waiting in line, and you take the Niagara City Cruise, which the operator lists from May to December. Skylon Tower is on the itinerary, with lines skipped. At $161.30 per adult, the price is low for a package this complete, and all 60 days of the window are open. Departure is from Toronto; Toronto pickup is included only if you select the option.
Best timing. November and December, when the cruise is still listed. Between January and April, the listing offers a different program in place of the boat.
The catch. Leaving from Toronto without checking the pickup option. Without it, the meeting point is the Amazon Sign on Bremner Boulevard in Toronto, ten minutes before departure.
- Air-conditioned Mercedes van
- Journey Behind the Falls, with no-line access
- Niagara City Cruise (May to December)

4. Helicopter, cruise and Journey Behind the Falls
Best for. Someone willing to splurge on an experience. A helicopter flight of about twelve minutes over the falls opens the day, followed by the Niagara City Cruise, which the listing places from May to December, and a walk behind the falls with fast access. It is the most expensive option in this article, at $339.24 per adult for two. Lunch is not included, which is not obvious from the listing. The guide and free hotel pickup are included. This is not a way to see more for less: it is a treat, and the helicopter is what justifies it.
Best timing. December, if you want the cruise. Between January and April, the operator replaces the boat with another aerial activity.
The catch. Counting lunch in the price. It is not included, and tips are extra. Budget for both.
- Helicopter flight of about 12 minutes
- Free hotel pickup and return
- Behind the falls with fast access

5. Wine tasting in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Best for. Wine lovers, and anyone who wants a calmer program than a boat cruise. Departures run in the morning, from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., or in the afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., from 1627 Niagara Stone Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The group stays small, the guide is professional, and transfer from hotels in Niagara-on-the-Lake or Niagara Falls is included for the afternoon. With a combined rating of 4.89 out of 5 across more than 700 reviews, it is one of the best-rated listings here. The listing says it is likely to sell out quickly.
Best timing. Book early. Pick the morning if you are already staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the afternoon if you are coming from Niagara Falls and want the transfer included.
The catch. The listing shows only 30 open days out of 60: it is closed on November 7, then from December 2 onward. Do not build your schedule around those dates. For the morning, hotel transfer is not included.
- Small group and professional guide
- Morning (3 to 3.5 hours) or afternoon (3.5 to 4 hours) visit
- Tips not included

6. American wine route, tastings included
Best for. Adults aged 21 and over who want to taste wine on the American side. The route visits several wineries in the Niagara region, with tastings included in the price, an air-conditioned vehicle and a guide. It is the only American-side wine product on this list. The combined rating of 4.80 out of 5 rests on 128 reviews, a smaller sample than the boat packages but enough for a group that comes mainly for the wine. Tastings are included, and there are no extra fees to budget for.
Best timing. A weekday. The listing shows only 52 open days out of 60, and none of the Saturdays in the window appear among them.
The catch. The listing gives no meeting point. Ask when you book, before you plan your trip and your night.
- Tastings included at four wineries
- Air-conditioned vehicle and guide
- 21 and over only

7. Winter tour on the American side
Best for. Someone with only two hours who wants to see the falls under ice. The small-group visit follows the Cave of the Winds walk, in front of the falls, with a professional guide. National park fees and taxes are included; meals and souvenir photos are not. The meeting point is the free parking lot of the Seneca Casino, fifteen minutes before departure. It is the least expensive option on the American side, at $95.00 per adult for two. Its weak point is availability: 44 open days out of 60, and only 122 combined reviews, 58 of them on Viator at 4.7.
Best timing. A weekday in December. None of the Saturdays in the window appear among the open days.
The catch. Assuming the cave walk will be open. In another listing on this page, the cave is replaced when it does not run. Ask the operator whether the route is open on your date before booking.
- National park fees included
- Meeting point at Seneca Casino, lot 7, free parking
- Closed November 1 to 8, then some Saturdays and Thursdays

8. Day trip from Toronto, 4 hours free at the falls
Best for. Someone staying in Toronto who wants the lowest-priced day on the list. The bus leaves Toronto in the morning and brings travelers back in the late afternoon. A Niagara Parks licensed guide narrates the trip and the viewpoints. You have four free hours at the falls to have lunch, wander or visit. The cruise is optional and runs only in season: the listing gives May 1 to November 30. At $70.89 per adult for two, it is the cheapest departure in this comparison.
Best timing. A November date if the boat matters to you. Note: the Maid of the Mist official site gives November 8 as the last day, not November 30.
The catch. The listing promises the boat until the end of November, which contradicts the operator’s site. If the cruise matters to you, ask for confirmation before paying for that option. Large luggage and large strollers must be declared at least 48 hours before the visit.
- Air-conditioned round-trip bus from Toronto
- Niagara Parks licensed guide
- Pickup at a hotel on Sheridan Way, around 8:35 a.m.

9. Private visit from Toronto
Best for. Groups who want to set their own program, their timing and every stop. A driver-guide and a private air-conditioned vehicle follow you through a day of eight to twelve hours. The boat and Journey Behind the Falls are offered as options: you decide how much room they get in your day. The price checked is $331.11 per adult for two. The combined rating reaches 4.99 out of 5, but on Viator alone it rests on 29 reviews: a small number to keep in mind. The listing says it is likely to sell out quickly.
Best timing. Book early, since only 51 days out of 60 are open, and the listing shows no fixed time slot.
The catch. The listing gives no meeting point: ask when you book. This is also the moment to ask whether the boat and Journey Behind the Falls are included or extra.
- Private air-conditioned vehicle
- Private transport with driver-guide
- Boat and Journey Behind the Falls options

10. Private full-day tour
Best for. Groups of at least two people who want a tailor-made day. A private guide follows the program, with two free hours at the falls, and Niagara-on-the-Lake is part of the itinerary. The price checked, $310.31 per adult for two, is a starting point: ask for a quote with the exact option you want. The combined rating is 4.91 out of 5, including 20 reviews on Viator alone.
Best timing. A weekday in December, when you can choose the departure time. All 60 days of the window are open.
The catch. Assuming the price covers every option: the boat, the helicopter flight and lunch are offered as extras. Check the quote before booking.
Meeting point: to be confirmed at booking.
- Private guide, minimum two people
- Two free hours at the falls
- Boat, helicopter and lunch as options

Any tour that crosses the bridge asks for your passport, not just a driver’s license. US citizens do not need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) for Canada, as the eTA applies to visa-exempt foreign nationals; the ESTA concerns visitors entering the United States, so it does not apply to you. Check the official Canadian government page for the documents your trip requires, and carry your passport on any tour that crosses the border.
Tips are not included in any listing that mentions them, whether for guides or drivers: listings present them as optional or suggested. Set aside a small amount, in Canadian or US dollars, for guided days.
Leave a buffer of one hour before closing for the walk behind the falls: the Journey Behind the Falls listing advises arriving at least one hour before closing. For Skylon Tower, the contact page shows 8 a.m. to midnight, every day, with no date: confirm it if your visit falls in December.
For vehicle tours, keep your passport within reach, as border checks are not always predictable.
All 10 listings are free to cancel up to 24 hours before departure. Check the rule displayed at checkout.
To choose quickly: under two hours, the winter tour on the American side (listing no. 7, $95.00 per adult, open 44 days out of 60); a tight budget, the departure from Toronto (listing no. 8, $70.89); a group that wants wine, the Niagara-on-the-Lake tasting (listing no. 5, $93.31, open 30 days out of 60, likely to sell out).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Maid of the Mist boat open in November 2026?
Yes, but only until Sunday, November 8, 2026, inclusive. The operator lists departures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from November 1 to 8. After that, the boat is closed until its 2027 reopening, the date of which has not been published. Tours on this list that promise it offer Journey Behind the Falls as a replacement. See listings no. 1 and no. 8 for details.
How much does a Niagara Falls tour cost in November or December?
From $70.89 to $339.24 per adult for two travelers, depending on the option. The cheapest departure is a day trip from Toronto, with four free hours at the falls. The Niagara-on-the-Lake wine tasting costs $93.31, and the two-side day $194.95. These prices were checked on October 18, 2026: they can change, so confirm the amount shown at checkout.
What is there to do at Niagara Falls in December?
Journey Behind the Falls stays open all year, and the two-hour winter tour on the American side runs too. Wine tastings in Niagara-on-the-Lake also operate. Some operators still advertise a boat cruise into December, without a precise end date. For a full day without planning it yourself, the premium van tour, with Journey Behind the Falls and Skylon, is the simplest option.
Do I need an eTA or an ESTA for these tours?
No, not as a US citizen. The Canadian eTA is for visa-exempt foreign nationals, and the US ESTA is for foreign visitors entering the United States. Carry your passport for any tour that crosses the border, and check the official Canadian government page if your travel documents raise a question.
Are the ratings shown Viator’s own?
No, they are combined ratings: Viator and TripAdvisor together, since that is the selection criterion for this list. Some listings have few reviews on Viator alone. For the private tour from Toronto, the Viator rating rests on 29 reviews. For the winter tour on the American side, it is 4.7 across 58 reviews. The review count shown is that of the combined rating.
Should I book in advance?
Yes, especially for the options the listing flags as likely to sell out quickly: the Niagara-on-the-Lake wine tasting and the private tour from Toronto. All 10 listings are free to cancel up to 24 hours before departure, which lets you book early; check the rule displayed at checkout. For the boat, book a date before November 8 if it is the centerpiece of your plan.
