The 55th San Miniato Mostra runs on 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 November 2026, according to the organiser. The first day open to the public is Saturday 14 November. The entry price had not been published when we checked, and no official price list sets the cost of truffles for 2026.
Checked on against the official sources cited (organiser, provincial tourist office, RFI).
Looking for the date of the San Miniato white truffle fair in 2026, what it costs, and whether it’s worth the trip compared with Alba? Every autumn, this small medieval town in the province of Pisa hosts the Mostra mercato nazionale del tartufo bianco delle Colline Sanminiatesi, a fair that takes over several squares in the historic centre. The 55th Mostra runs on 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 November 2026. Entry, opening hours and the 2026 shuttle bus have not been published yet.
2026 dates: three November weekends

The 55th Mostra, 14 to 29 November 2026
The Fondazione San Miniato Promozione, which runs the fair, announces the 55th edition across three November weekends of 2026, on the organiser’s website. On 1 October 2026, the mayor told the local press that the official opening would be Friday 13 November and the closing 29 November (GoNews). Saturday 14 November is therefore the first day open to the public.
A directory listing gives the 54th edition. We go with the 55th, which is the organiser’s figure. Don’t mix up the Mostra with the 12th Sagra del Tartufo Bianco delle Colline Sanminiatesi, which takes place on Friday 23 October 2026 according to the organiser, three weeks earlier.
Outside the Mostra: a truffle hunt in San Gimignano
This experience has no link with the Mostra. Its title places it in San Gimignano, another town in Tuscany, not San Miniato. The title promises a semi-private truffle hunt followed by lunch at a winery. When we first wrote this section, we had not found its meeting point, price or availability, so check the Viator page before you book.

Entry and stalls: what hasn’t been published yet

Nearly 150 gourmet stalls in the historic centre (recent editions, undated page)
The producer Tartufi di San Miniato, on its page about the Mostra, announces nearly 150 gourmet stalls, about fifty non-food stalls, more than 120 exhibitors and more than 20 food stops (undated page, checked 18 October 2026). These figures give an order of magnitude for recent editions. They are not a plan for 2026.
The sources place the stalls on the piazza del Duomo, piazza del Popolo, piazza del Seminario, piazza della Repubblica, corso Garibaldi, piazza Dante, piazza Mazzini and the loggiati of San Domenico. At the foot of the Rocca di Federico II, a 13th-century fortress, white truffle stalls are set up. The Officina del Tartufo, where cooking demonstrations are held, is on piazza del Seminario or piazza del Duomo, depending on the edition.
The entry price had not been published when we checked. An unsourced commercial page mentions free entry: we don’t repeat it. The 2026 stall opening hours are not published either. Some aggregator sites list stalls open from 10 am to midnight, but no official source confirms this.
Getting there: train, shuttle, car and plane

From San Miniato-Fucecchio station to the centre
The nearest station is San Miniato-Fucecchio. The railway operator RFI describes two platforms, a bus stop and reserved parking, but no mobility assistance, no lift and no raised platform (RFI station page, checked 18 October 2026). If you’re travelling with reduced mobility, plan the journey before you leave.
Indicative connections go via Empoli. Timetables on aggregator sites contradict each other, so check Trenitalia on the day you travel. The journey time from Florence is not backed by a source, so don’t count on it until you’ve booked a day return.
In 2024, a shuttle ran from San Miniato Basso, via Guerrazzi 102, to piazza Dante. It cost €4.50 return, payable by card, with times from 10:00 am to 12:30 am on Saturday and from 10:00 am to 11:50 pm on Sunday (GoNews, 14 November 2024). It was free in 2022. For 2026, neither the fare nor the times are confirmed: the bus operator’s page we checked returned an error.
By car, the nearest exit cited by one source is Ponte a Elsa on the A11. A limited traffic zone (ZTL) existed in 2022, with a pass; the 2026 rule is not confirmed. Florence Airport (Peretola) and Pisa airport both serve the area, but we have not checked journey times from them to San Miniato.

Budget: entry, activities and truffles
Your budget comes down to three items: entry, which has not been published for 2026, food and activities, and the truffle itself. There is no figure to quote for entry. For the other two, the only sourced amounts date from 2024 or relate to Alba.
The 2024 Mostra activities give a rough idea: from €5 to €25 depending on the activity. The table below lists them. These prices are not carried over to 2026 unless the organiser confirms them.
| Activity | 2024 price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Return shuttle | €4.50 | Departs from San Miniato Basso |
| Themed dinner at the Officina del Tartufo | €15 | 2024 price; 2026 not confirmed |
| Cooking shows | €15 | Unless otherwise stated |
| « Vicoli Carbonai » walk | €5 | Walking tour of the town |
| « Discover San Miniato » visit | €10 | Guided visit |
| Treasure hunt | €5 | Game around the town |
| « A tavola con i vip » | €25 | Sunday at 1 pm |
Source: GoNews, Mostra 2024 programme, checked on 18 October 2026.
For truffles, the press has reported prices of €3,500 to €5,000 per kilo in San Miniato, with no reliable date (probably 2024) and no official price list to back them up (Dissapore, checked 18 October 2026). No local price for 2026 has been verified. As a rough comparison, to be read with care, the October 2026 press puts early-season truffles in Alba at €350 to €550 per 100 g, or €3,500 to €5,500 per kilo. The Alba price is for 2026, while the San Miniato price is for a year that is not confirmed: this is not a like-for-like price comparison.
If your budget is tight, focus on tasting local produce and on the low-cost activities of 2024, bearing in mind that their prices are not guaranteed for this year.
San Miniato or Alba: comparing without getting it wrong
Alba remains the international reference for white truffles, with a 96th edition announced for 2026 by the press (Virgilio). San Miniato’s Mostra is a more local fair and takes place later in the season. For the full picture of the Piedmont fair, read our guide to the Alba white truffle fair 2026.
The table below compares the two fairs on the points where the sources agree. The Alba dates vary from one page to another: the directories we checked give 10 October to 6 December 2026, others give 11 October to 8 December.
| Criterion | San Miniato (Mostra) | Alba (Fiera internazionale) |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 edition | 55th, according to the organiser | 96th, according to the press |
| 2026 dates | 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 November, confirmed by the organiser | 10 October to 6 December according to directories; other dates are circulating |
| Entry | Not published for 2026 | About €6 on site, €6.30 online (press, 22 September 2026) |
| Length | Three weekends, six festival days (seven including the 13 November opening) | About two months |
| Access | Train to Fucecchio, then shuttle; 2026 shuttle not confirmed | Connection from Turin to be checked; timetable not confirmed |
| Truffle, early season (rough comparison) | No verified 2026 price; €3,500 to €5,000 per kilo reported, no reliable date (probably 2024) | €350 to €550 per 100 g, or €3,500 to €5,500 per kilo (press, October 2026) |

Your route is what settles it. If you’re already in Tuscany at the end of November, San Miniato is reachable from Florence via Empoli (check the times; the journey time is not sourced). If you want the best-known fair, Alba runs in Piedmont from 10 October to 6 December according to the directories we checked, a window that also covers all three Mostra weekends. Other pages give 11 October to 8 December, so check the date on the Fiera’s website. Either way, check where your truffle comes from. An investigation by Open, published in February 2026, found truffles sold as « from Alba » that came from other regions or from abroad (Open, checked 18 October 2026).
A possible day out
With the 2026 hours not yet published, this plan is not based on any official timetable. It follows the logical route through the historic centre, which is best explored on foot.
Morning: start at the piazza del Duomo and the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Genesio. The diocesan museum of sacred art in San Miniato exists (Terre di Pisa listing, checked 18 October 2026). We have not checked the opening hours or prices of these sites, so confirm them before you come.
Lunch: book a table ahead. Travellers’ accounts recommend it, and several restaurants in the centre offer truffle menus during the fair, at prices we have not been able to verify.
Afternoon: head down to the Rocca di Federico II and the stalls at its foot. The Museo del tartufo delle Colline Sanminiatesi is another stop, subject to checking its hours. To extend your stay from Florence, our selection of day trips from Florence and Tuscany has other itineraries, and our private tours of Tuscany cover Florence, Siena and Pisa.
Allow extra time for the climb: the town is medieval and its streets are steep.
Options depending on your situation
- Tight budget. The walks, visits and games of 2024 cost €5 to €10. Ask for the 2026 programme before you budget for them.
- First time. Aim for a full weekend rather than a single day: the fair has six weekend days spread over three weeks (seven with the 13 November opening).
- Families. No activities for children are documented for 2026. Check the organiser’s programme before you go.
- Reduced mobility. The station offers no assistance and the centre is steep. A taxi or car up to the centre means checking the limited traffic zone first.
- Couples, truffle dinner. The themed dinner at the Officina del Tartufo cost €15 in 2024. Confirm it runs in 2026 before you plan around it.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a truffle without asking where it comes from, even though truffles sold as « from Alba » sometimes come from elsewhere.
- Leaving without checking the organiser’s 2026 programme, the only source that counts for entry and opening hours.
- Mixing up the Mostra on 14 November with the sagra on 23 October.
- Keeping a truffle unwrapped: specialist press recommends absorbent paper, changed every day.
What other guides don’t tell you
The points below rely on the organiser, the press or a producer; each one gives its source. They are missing or wrong in the guides and online summaries we read.
- The 2026 Mostra is the 55th edition. The organiser confirms it (organiser’s website, checked 18 October 2026). A directory listing gives the 54th (FoiresInfo, checked 18 October 2026).
- The organiser has a precise address. The Fondazione San Miniato Promozione is based at Piazza del Popolo 1, 56028 San Miniato (PI). Aggregator sites often point to a tourist office or a producer instead (organiser’s website) (checked 18 October 2026).
- The Rocca and piazza del Seminario matter. White truffle stalls stand at the foot of the Rocca di Federico II, and the Officina del Tartufo is on piazza del Seminario or piazza del Duomo. The guides we read only mention piazza del Duomo and piazza della Repubblica (producer, undated page) (checked 18 October 2026).
- The 2024 shuttle had a precise starting point. It left from San Miniato Basso, via Guerrazzi 102, for piazza Dante, at €4.50 return payable by card (GoNews, 14 November 2024, checked 18 October 2026). Some online summaries mention « park and ride » car parks with no location or price: we could not verify them.
- The 23 October sagra is not the Mostra. The 12th Sagra del Tartufo Bianco delle Colline Sanminiatesi takes place on 23 October 2026, three weeks before the Mostra, according to the organiser (organiser’s website) (checked 18 October 2026).

When is the San Miniato white truffle fair in 2026?
The 55th Mostra mercato nazionale del tartufo bianco runs on 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 November 2026, according to the organiser, the Fondazione San Miniato Promozione. The mayor has announced the official opening for Friday 13 November, and Saturday 14 November is the first day open to the public. The 12th Sagra del Tartufo, a separate festival, takes place on 23 October 2026.
How much does entry to the San Miniato Mostra cost?
The entry price had not been published when we checked on 18 October 2026. An unsourced commercial page says entry is free, and we do not repeat it. Check the organiser’s website before you go. The paid activities of 2024, such as the dinner at the Officina or the cooking shows, only give a rough idea.
How do you get to San Miniato by train from Florence?
The nearest station is San Miniato-Fucecchio. According to RFI, it has no mobility assistance, no lift and no raised platform. Indicative connections go via Empoli, then a bus or taxi into the centre. Timetables on aggregator sites contradict each other, so check Trenitalia on the day you travel. The journey time from Florence is not sourced: don’t count on it until you’ve booked a day return.
Is there a shuttle up to the centre during the Mostra?
In 2024, yes: a shuttle ran from San Miniato Basso to piazza Dante for €4.50 return, payable by card. It ran on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 am and on Sundays from 10:00 am to 11:50 pm. It was free in 2022. For 2026, the service is not confirmed: no fare or timetable had been published when we checked.
Where are the Mostra stalls?
The sources place the stalls on piazza del Duomo, piazza del Popolo, piazza del Seminario, piazza della Repubblica, corso Garibaldi and piazza Dante, as well as at the foot of the Rocca di Federico II. The Officina del Tartufo is on piazza del Seminario or piazza del Duomo, depending on the edition. No 2026 map had been published when we checked.
Is San Miniato or Alba better for white truffles?
Alba is the reference fair, with a 96th edition, entry of about €6 on site and €6.30 online according to the press of September 2026, and early-season truffles at €350 to €550 per 100 g (October 2026), or €3,500 to €5,500 per kilo. This is a rough comparison, as the years do not match San Miniato’s. San Miniato is a more local Mostra, held at the end of November, with low-cost activities in 2024. The choice depends on your budget, your dates and the kind of visit you want.
How much does a white truffle from San Miniato cost?
No verified 2026 price exists for San Miniato. The press has reported €3,500 to €5,000 per kilo, with no reliable date (probably 2024), and links that level of price to heat and drought; no official price list guarantees these figures. Prices change from one season to the next, so ask for the origin and the price per kilo before you buy.
How do you store a white truffle bought at the fair?
According to specialist press, keep it cool, wrapped in absorbent paper that you change every day, and eat it within about seven days. This is press advice, not an official recommendation, so follow it without treating it as a guarantee. Source: Dissapore.
