The cheapest tour that includes Westminster Abbey entry costs $106.38 per adult for 2 travelers: a 3.5-hour guided tour rated 4.88 out of 5. The official ticket costs GBP 32 with an audio guide. Only some listings say « skip the line. » Pick a guided tour for the story, or the official ticket for a self-paced visit.

Verified on via the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).

If you search for Westminster Abbey tickets, you are really asking two questions. Does the price include entry to the Abbey itself? And does the tour skip the line, or does it only add a guide? We checked both against the Viator listings that carry an Abbey ticket, and against the Abbey’s own price page, on October 10, 2026. The answer depends on the product. Guided tours with Abbey entry start at $106.38 per adult for two travelers, and a private tour with Abbey and Tower of London entries costs $636.37 per adult.

Our guided London tour with Abbey tickets is the best starting point for most first visits. It is the cheapest tour in this comparison that includes Abbey entry, and it has a 4.88 rating across 1163 reviews. It is not the only option. The right choice depends on what you want to do after the Abbey: stay in Westminster, cross London, or add the Tower.

Four products say skip the line, or say you do not wait in the ticket line, in their own text: the 3.5-hour guided tour, the walk with pre-booked Abbey entry, the Buckingham Palace and Big Ben walk and the private tour. The full-day tour with the Tower does so only on its 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. departures. The priority visit sells priority access, and the full-day tour with timed entry describes a timed entry that bypasses the main queues, and does not use the words skip the line. The comparison table gives the price per adult, the rating, the length and the days with a bookable slot for all ten tours.

Two limits apply. First, the set is small on purpose. Of the London tours on Viator that clear our quality floor (a 4.7 rating and at least 100 reviews), only seven mention Westminster Abbey entry in their text, so this is a comparison of those listings on the day of the check, not a survey of the whole market. Viator also lists two Abbey-only entry tickets below that floor: one with an audio guide (4.17, 873 reviews) and one with options (4.15, 153 reviews). We did not price them. Second, we do not state facts we could not confirm. We give no opening hours for each day of the week, because the official pages do not agree on Saturday hours and we did not confirm weekday hours.

Prices are per adult for two travelers, in US dollars, from the Viator partner API on October 10, 2026, for departures from October 24 to December 22, 2026. The Abbey’s own prices are in British pounds, and we show them that way.

What the Abbey Ticket Covers, and What It Does Not

Westminster Abbey is a working church as well as a major visitor site. Daily services are free to attend with no ticket. Everyone else pays for general admission, and the Abbey’s official page, checked October 10, 2026, sets that price in pounds sterling: GBP 32 for an adult, GBP 29 for visitors aged 65 and over and students, GBP 14 for children aged 6 to 17, and free for children under 6. The audio guide is included.

At an estimated exchange rate, GBP 32 is about $43, and exchange rates move every day. The official ticket buys entry and an audio guide. It does not buy a person who walks you through the building, and that difference explains most of the price gap in the table below. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries are a separate timed ticket. The page we read does not show their price, so we do not give one.

Two rules apply to any ticket. The Abbey can close at short notice for state or church events, and a pre-booked Viator ticket does not override that. The official page we read does not state advance booking as a requirement for general admission, and walk-in general admission is sold on the day. Six of the ten tours include an Abbey entry ticket in the price, and one of them only on its early departures. The priority visit lists no ticket, and the three London walks have no Abbey entry. For the visits that include a ticket, an advance ticket is a convenience, not a requirement.

Do not buy a second ticket for the same visit. A tour that includes Abbey entry already covers the ticket, so an official ticket on top would pay for the Abbey twice. The one exception is the priority visit, which lists no ticket, so confirm what its price covers before you book.

The useful question is therefore what the rest of the price buys. The ten tours fall into three groups:

  • Official ticket: GBP 32 for an adult, with an audio guide and no live guide.
  • Abbey tours with a guide: seven listings, from $106.38 to $636.37 per adult. Three of them also visit the Tower of London, including the private tour.
  • London walks without Abbey entry: three listings, from $29.62 to $131.96 per adult.

Choose by profile. A first-time visitor with one day and a budget should start with the 3.5-hour tour or the 2-hour priority visit. A family or group that wants one guide for everyone should look at the private tour, even though it costs far more per person. A reader who has already seen the Abbey and wants Parliament Square and the Palace of Westminster should look at the walks without entry.

The 10 Tours in Detail: Abbey Tickets First, London Walks Last

1. Guided London Tour with Skip-the-Line Abbey Tickets

Rating 4.88 (1163 reviews) 3.5 hours $106.38 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is the tour to compare the others against. It is the cheapest in the set that includes Westminster Abbey entry, and the product text states that the skip-the-line Abbey tickets are part of the price. The Blue Badge guide leads a route of about 3.5 hours, with groups capped at 20 guests and headsets for groups of 10 or more. The fare has two limits. Entry to Big Ben and Buckingham Palace is not included, and both are seen from the outside only. Gratuities are excluded too. The meeting point is the Parliament Square Garden statue, reached from Westminster station (Exit 4), not the Abbey door. Choose it for a fixed price for two, a guide for the Abbey story, and a short day. Its window has 45 open days out of 60, so book your date early.

  • Skip-the-line Abbey tickets in the price
  • Blue Badge guide, about 3.5 hours
  • Big Ben and the Palace seen from outside only

2. Priority Access Abbey Tour with a Professional Guide

Rating 4.76 (353 reviews) 2 hours $114.45 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is the shortest Abbey visit in the set, about two hours, and the only one built on priority access with a professional guide. Groups are capped at 20 guests, and the visit includes coffee and pastries in the 14th-century Cellarium. Read the fare before you pay. The product lists priority access, a live guide and refreshments, but no separate entry ticket among its inclusions, so confirm on the booking page what the per-person price covers. The meeting point is the Westminster Abbey Shop at 20 Dean’s Yard, next to the West entrance, where the guide holds a white « Premium Tours » sign. Its window has 27 open days out of 60, the fewest of the Abbey tours, so check dates first.

  • Priority access, about two hours
  • Coffee and pastries in the Cellarium
  • Confirm what the fare includes

3. Westminster Walking Tour with Pre-Booked Abbey Entry

Rating 4.82 (1358 reviews) 5 hours $137.35 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is a 3-hour walk through the Top 20 Westminster sights, then the Abbey, 5 hours in total. The Abbey comes at the end, not the start. The entry ticket is booked for you after the walk, and the product says that means no ticket line to join. It suits a reader who wants a walking guide for the whole Westminster area and a ticket with no queue. It is a weaker pick if you want to start the day inside the Abbey, because the route puts it last. The fare excludes food and drinks, so pack a snack. The meeting point is outside the Ritz hotel at 150 Piccadilly, nearest to Green Park station. The 51 open days in the window make it more flexible than the 27-day priority visit.

  • Walk through the Top 20 Westminster sights
  • Pre-booked Abbey ticket, no ticket line
  • Food and drinks not included

4. Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Abbey Walking Tour

Rating 4.88 (847 reviews) 5 hours $137.35 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This tour has the same price and meeting point as the Westminster walk, with a route built around Buckingham Palace and Big Ben and the Abbey ticket included. The ticket is pre-booked, and the product states there is no ticket line to join. The product text also says the tour no longer stops at the Tower of London, London Bridge or Shakespeare’s Globe, so if you wanted those stops, look at the full-day tours below. The inclusions list a walking tour, a local guide and the Abbey ticket. No Palace entry is listed, so do not expect to go inside Buckingham Palace. Choose it if you want the Abbey and a central walk without the Tower. Its window has 51 open days out of 60.

  • Walking tour with a pre-booked Abbey ticket
  • Buckingham Palace and Big Ben on the route
  • No Palace interior listed

5. London in a Day: Tower, Abbey and River Cruise

Rating 4.80 (1046 reviews) 6 to 8 hours $160.24 to $241.03 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is a full day, not a visit to the Abbey. The route runs through royal London and includes a Tower of London ticket, a Thames River cruise and a Blue Badge guide. The skip-the-line Abbey ticket applies only to the 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. departures. The 10:00 a.m. departure gets an introduction to the Abbey from outside, so if you want to go inside, book an early start. There are two start points: the Tower of London West Gate at 50 Lower Thames Street, or the Viscount Palmerston statue in Parliament Square. The pace is moderate, and the product says the tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. The price varies by date, from $160.24 to $241.03 per adult across the window, so check the price for your date. Choose it for the Tower, the river and the Abbey in one day. If the Abbey is all you want, the shorter Abbey tours cost less and take far less time.

  • Skip-the-line Abbey entry at 8:45 and 9:00 a.m.
  • Tower of London ticket and Thames cruise
  • Two start points to choose from

6. Full-Day London Tour with Timed Abbey Entry

Rating 4.88 (363 reviews) 7 hours $189.45 to $204.95 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This tour gives the Abbey a timed-entry ticket, not a skip-the-line one, and we do not call it skip-the-line because the product does not. Timed entry means a set slot, so plan to arrive for that slot. The seven-hour day starts at the Abraham Lincoln statue in Parliament Square, continues with lunch near Trafalgar Square and a Thames clipper ride east along the river, and ends inside the Tower of London with a guided tour. The Changing of the Guard viewing does not take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays, or in poor weather; on those days the Horse Guards ceremony is seen instead. The product lists a high fitness level and about seven hours on foot. If walking is the limit, the 3.5-hour tour is the better fit. Its window has 35 open days out of 60.

  • Timed Abbey entry, not skip-the-line
  • Tower of London tour and Thames clipper
  • High fitness level, about seven hours on foot

7. Private London Tour with Abbey and Tower Entries

Rating 5.0 (105 reviews) 8 hours $636.37 per adult (2 travelers) Private tour

This is the most expensive tour in the set per person, at $636.37 for two adults. Its value is clear in one case: a family or group that wants a single Blue Badge guide, entry to the Abbey and the Tower of London, and a line the product says is guaranteed to be skipped. For a solo reader, this is not a comparison price. The day lasts about eight hours and the fitness level is medium. Food, drinks, transport and gratuities are not included. The guide waits outside the Westminster Abbey Shop holding a sign with the lead guest’s name. The rating is 5.0, but from 105 reviews only, so read the recent reviews before you book. Its window has 45 open days out of 60.

8. Westminster Walk with Churchill War Rooms (No Abbey)

Rating 4.80 (1023 reviews) 5 hours $131.96 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

Choose this one if you want the Westminster walk and the Churchill War Rooms, but not the Abbey. The tour includes no Abbey entry. The Abbey is seen from outside on the walk, so do not book it as a backup for an Abbey visit. The War Rooms tickets are handed out at the end of the walk, and the guide does not go in with you. An audio guide is offered inside the War Rooms. At $131.96 per adult, it costs $5.39 less than the 5-hour Abbey walks at $137.35, and it includes no Abbey entry. The choice is about the War Rooms, not the price. Food and drinks are not included. The meeting point is outside the Ritz hotel at 150 Piccadilly, and the window shows all 60 days open.

  • Churchill War Rooms tickets at the end of the walk
  • No Abbey entry included
  • Wheelchair access listed

9. London Walk Past 30 Sights (No Paid Entry)

Rating 4.85 (2644 reviews) 5 hours $64.63 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is the most-reviewed tour in the set, with 2,644 ratings averaging 4.85. It is a small-group walk of 10 to 20 people past about 30 London landmarks, led by a local guide. The product says the group does not go inside any paid attraction. Westminster Abbey is passed on the walk, not entered. Choose it for a London overview and for photos, not for the Abbey interior. Food and drinks are not included, and an Oyster or contactless card is needed for the Tube. The meeting point is outside the Ritz hotel at 150 Piccadilly. It runs on all 60 days in the window, so it fits any date you pick.

10. Palaces and Parliament Walk (No Attraction Entry)

Rating 4.89 (1775 reviews) 3 hours $29.62 per adult (2 travelers) Instant confirmation

This is the lowest price in the set at $29.62 per adult for two travelers. It is a three-hour small-group walk for 10 to 15 people around Parliament Square and the Palace of Westminster. The listed inclusions contain no attraction entry, and the Abbey is seen from the outside on the walk. It is a good first hour in Westminster before you commit to an Abbey ticket, or the right choice if you only want the outside of the Palace. Snacks and drinks are not included. The meeting point is outside the Ritz hotel at 150 Piccadilly. Skip it if the Abbey interior is the point of the trip, because you will not go in. It runs on all 60 days in the window.

Practical Tips for Your Visit

Budget for two. Two adults on the official route pay GBP 64 for entry, about $86 at an estimated exchange rate. The 3.5-hour tour with Abbey entry costs $212.76 for two, the two 5-hour Abbey walks cost $274.70 for two, and the private tour costs $1,272.74 for two.

Timing. The official pages do not agree on Saturday hours, and we did not confirm weekday hours, so this guide gives no daily hours. Check the official opening calendar for the day you plan to visit. The Abbey closes at short notice for services and events, so keep a second plan in the same area.

Changing of the Guard. The Household Division calendar lists the ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. Some walk listings describe a 10 a.m. viewing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, which differs from the official calendar, so check the calendar again close to your visit.

Getting there. The Westminster meeting points are a few minutes from Westminster station, on the Jubilee, Circle and District lines. The Ritz meeting point is nearest to Green Park. Carry a contactless card or an Oyster for the Tube, since one walk requires it.

Tipping. Gratuities are excluded from several Abbey products, including the 3.5-hour guided tour, the priority visit, the full-day tour with the Tower, the timed-entry day and the private tour. Budget a tip for a guide you liked, and check each product’s price basis before you book.

Walking and access. The priority visit runs about two hours at medium effort. The full-day tour with the Tower is moderate walking and is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. The timed-entry day involves about seven hours on foot at a high fitness level. Wheelchair access is listed for the two pre-booked Abbey walks, the War Rooms walk, the 30-sight walk and the private tour. Check each product’s text for the day you book.

Photos and entry rules. This guide did not verify the Abbey’s photo rules, so check them on the day. US citizens are reported to need an Electronic Travel Authorization to enter the UK. We have not checked this on GOV.UK, so confirm it there before you book flights.

A sample day. Book the 3.5-hour guided tour for the morning, keep the afternoon for the Churchill War Rooms or a walk through a park, and check the opening calendar for both. If you choose the full-day tour, the 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. starts are the ones that include Abbey entry.

Three mistakes to avoid. Booking a walk without Abbey entry and expecting to go inside. Buying a full-day tour for the skip-the-line promise without checking the departure time. Planning a fixed-time visit with no backup for a closure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Viator tours include Westminster Abbey entry?

Five tours include Abbey entry in the price in full: the 3.5-hour guided tour, the two 5-hour walks with pre-booked tickets, the full-day tour with timed entry, and the private tour. A sixth, the full-day tour with the Tower, includes it only on its 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. departures. The priority-access visit with a professional guide lists no ticket among its inclusions, and the three London walks have no Abbey entry.

How much is the official Westminster Abbey ticket?

The Abbey’s official page, checked October 10, 2026, lists GBP 32 for an adult, GBP 29 for visitors aged 65 and over and students, GBP 14 for children aged 6 to 17, and free entry for children under 6. The audio guide is included. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries need a separate timed ticket, and we did not confirm its price. At an estimated exchange rate, GBP 32 is about $43.

Which Westminster Abbey tours say skip the line?

Four products address it in their text: the 3.5-hour guided tour, the two 5-hour walks, which say you do not need to wait in the ticket line, and the private tour, which says the line is guaranteed to be skipped. The full-day tour with the Tower skips the line only at its 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. starts. The priority visit is described as priority access, and the full-day tour with timed entry is not described as skip-the-line.

Is a Viator tour cheaper than buying the Abbey ticket?

No. The official adult ticket costs GBP 32, about $43 at an estimated exchange rate, and it includes an audio guide. The cheapest tour with Abbey entry costs $106.38 per adult for two travelers. The extra money buys a guide and a set route. For a solo traveler on a tight budget, the official ticket is the sensible default.

Do I need to book Westminster Abbey in advance?

The official page we read does not state advance booking as a requirement for general admission, and walk-in general admission is sold on the day. Six of the ten tours include an Abbey entry ticket, and for those visits the ticket is pre-booked, so you do not need to queue at the desk. Because the Abbey can close at short notice for state or church events, do not build a fixed-time plan on a single visit.

When is the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace?

The Household Division calendar lists Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. Several walks in this guide mention the ceremony in their text. The full-day tour with timed Abbey entry states that its viewing does not take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays, or in poor weather; on those days the Horse Guards ceremony is seen instead. The product text of the full-day tour with the Tower does not promise a ceremony viewing. Check the calendar close to your visit.
