The best-value day trip from Seoul is a DMZ tour, from $50 per adult (based on 2 travelers), with free cancellation. The longest is the Seoraksan and Nami tour, at 14 to 16 hours. Pick the DMZ for history and value, Nami Island for scenery, and a Suwon tour for a shorter day.
Verified on via the Viator partner API (prices, ratings, availability).
Nine one-day tours from Seoul are compared here, from $50 to $138.97 per adult for two travelers. The Demilitarized Zone, Nami Island, the Seoraksan mountains, and the Suwon fortress each appear as a day trip. The difficulty is the choice, so this article compares what matters: how long the day really lasts, what the price covers, whether you can cancel, and who the tour suits.
We took a different route. We searched the Viator catalog for Seoul day tours, kept those with strong combined ratings and enough reviews to compare, and then checked prices and open dates for October 30 to December 28, 2026. From those we picked nine that cover different kinds of day: three DMZ tours, two Suwon tours, three Nami Island or Seoraksan tours, and one tour to a PyeongChang filming location. We also dropped one listing whose booking link pointed to another destination. The list is not exhaustive, since the search may have missed tours, but it gives you a clear basis for comparing.
Here is how to read the list. Cards run from the highest combined rating to the lowest. Prices are the lowest per-adult figures we measured for two travelers across the window. We show them as « from » prices because they change by date and group size. Each review count combines Viator and TripAdvisor.
Why Seoul Day Trips Are Worth Comparing
Most day trips from Seoul share the same logistics. The meeting times in these cards run from 6:20 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. What differs is the time you actually spend at the destination, the price per adult, and what happens if plans change. Those three points decide whether a tour deserves a full day of a short trip.
The nine tours fall into four families. The Demilitarized Zone takes most of a day and has the strictest rules: a passport, and in some cases an age limit that depends on the operator. The Seoraksan and Nami tour is the longest, at 14 to 16 hours, and the Nami Island tours run 9 to 13 hours. Suwon’s Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, anchors the shorter cultural days. The PyeongChang tour is built around one filming location, the BTS version of In The Soop.
Two points deserve a note before you compare prices. First, two of our nine tours also appear in our earlier comparison of Nami Island and the DMZ: the DMZ tour in card 5 and the Nami cable car tour in card 9. This article does not ask which of those two places to visit. It asks which full-day tour fits your trip. If you are deciding only between those two, read our Nami Island vs DMZ Seoul Tour article first. Second, the prices here are the lowest per-adult figures we measured for two travelers. A private option or a different group size can cost more, and the cards say so where it matters.
Every price and availability figure here comes from our check of October 16, 2026. Where a source disagreed or could not be read, the text says so instead of choosing one version.

Prices and availability checked on the Viator partner API on October 16, 2026 for October 30 to December 28, 2026; they can change. Ratings and review counts combine Viator and TripAdvisor. Prices are per adult, based on 2 travelers.
Read the table with two cautions. The price column shows the lowest figure we measured, so a private option, a larger group, or a specific date can cost more. The DMZ tours are the cheapest and have the largest review bases, while the Seoraksan day is the longest.
The 9 Best Day Trips from Seoul, Ranked by Rating
Each card gives the duration, the price per adult for two travelers, the confirmation type, and the points that decide whether the tour fits your plans. The Viator booking button opens the listing with the current options.

1. The In The Soop Filming Location Day
Choose this tour if a filming location is the reason you want to visit Korea. It follows the PyeongChang spots used for the BTS version of In The Soop, and at from $138.97 per adult it is the most expensive day in this set. Expect a long day of 12 to 13 hours. The meeting point is the lobby of the Amid Hotel at 7:20 a.m., so plan an early breakfast. Two terms need attention before you pay. Confirmation is manual rather than instant, and the booking is all sales final, so there is no refund for cancellations. We included it for variety, not as a default. If you want a classic sightseeing day, the DMZ and Suwon cards will serve you better at a much lower price, .
- Entrance ticket to the filming location
- Roundtrip transportation, with snacks
- All sales final: no refund for cancellations

2. A Private DMZ Tour with a Retired Officer and a Defector
This is the DMZ tour for travelers who want the story told by people who lived it. Before you book, note that the Joint Security Area can close without notice for security reasons. The listing title names a retired military officer and a North Korean defector. Viator marks the listing as a private tour. The meeting points are Hongik Univ. Station, Exit 3, or Myeongdong Station, Exit 8, both outside the station. The day runs 7 to 8 hours. The lowest price we measured for two travelers was from $50 per adult. The private option costs more, but we did not price it, so check the options on the booking page before you pay. The web address of the listing says Monday only, but the open dates we checked fell on Tuesday through Sunday, so confirm the departure day on the booking page. If the private option fits your budget, it is the most personal way to see the border.
- Led by a retired military officer (listing title)
- A North Korean defector joins the talk
- Admission to the DMZ and roundtrip transfer

3. Starfield Library, Hwaseong Fortress, and a Cave
This is the higher-rated of the two Suwon days on the list. Its title lists the Starfield Library as a stop of its own, separate from the Suwon fortress and the Gwangmyeong Cave. Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 1997 according to a search snippet we could not check against the UNESCO page. Sources give different construction dates for the fortress, so we do not give one here. Pick this card if you want variety in one fixed seven-hour day. Expect free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, and meeting points at City Hall Station, Exit 6, or Myeongdong Station, Exit 9. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Starfield Library stop (listing title)
- Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Entrance fees, transportation, and an English or Chinese guide

4. The Defector Q&A DMZ Tour with Hotel Pickup
Pick this DMZ tour if you want the defector session and the tunnel in one day, along with a hotel pickup. The title names both, but the pickup covers downtown Seoul hotels only, so check that yours falls inside that zone before you book. The fixed seven-hour day departs from City Hall Station, Exit 6, at 7:35 a.m., or from Myeongdong Station, Exit 9, at 7:25 a.m. The inclusions list a defector meet-up, admission, and an air-conditioned coach from Seoul. At from $50 per adult for two travelers, it costs the same as the other two DMZ tours here, so the choice comes down to pickup and format. Of the three DMZ listings, this is the one that names hotel pickup in its title. It has 26,450 reviews, Viator and TripAdvisor combined, and a 4.95 rating. The age rules depend on the operator and on the JSA visit. If a child is traveling, ask the operator before you book rather than assuming the age limit.
- Hotel pickup for downtown Seoul (listing title)
- Defector meet-up and tunnel visit
- Admission and an air-conditioned coach

5. The Classic DMZ Tour with the Suspension Bridge and JSA
This is the classic DMZ day, and the one with the largest review base in this set. The title names the suspension bridge and the JSA museum, and the listing presents them as options you select at checkout, next to a Majang Lake Bridge stop and a live talk with a North Korean defector. Read that part carefully, because the length and content of your day depend on the options you tick. The tour departs in the morning from City Hall Station, Exit 6, or Hongik University Station, Exit 3, and runs 7 to 9 hours. The price starts at $50 per adult for two travelers, and free cancellation applies. For a first DMZ visit, note that the Majang Lake Bridge and the JSA museum are chosen at checkout, and the listing groups them with a defector live talk. The JSA rules and any age limit are set by the operator, so ask before you book if a child is coming.
- Suspension bridge and JSA museum, as options
- Professional guide in English or Chinese
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure

6. Seoraksan and Nami Island in One Long Day
Choose this tour if you want the mountains and Nami Island in a single day, and you can handle a 14 to 16 hour day. It is the longest tour in the set. The listing asks you to book by 2 p.m. the day before, so do not leave it to the last minute. The meeting point is outside Myeongdong Station, Exit 4, by a Paris Baguette, or at Hongik University Station, Exit 8, by a Starbucks. The Seoraksan entrance ticket and the Nami Island ferry ticket are included, and a shared air-conditioned minivan drives you between the stops. A rail bike is an optional add-on with shared seats. Viator flags this tour as likely to sell out, and 42 of its 60 dates were open on our check. At from $85.18 per adult for two travelers, it costs more than the Alpaca and Nami day in card 7 ($66.67 to $76.19) and less than the Nami cable car day in card 9 ($109), but it gives you two destinations in one booking. Plan a light breakfast, a warm layer for the mountain, and a comfortable pair of shoes for the ferry and the trail.
- Seoraksan entrance and Nami Island ferry
- Shared air-conditioned minivan
- Optional rail bike, with shared seats

7. Alpacas, Nami Island, and an Optional Rail Bike
This tour packs three experiences into a 12 to 13 hour day: a visit to Alpaca World, a stop on Nami Island, and an optional rail bike ride in Gangchon. It suits travelers who enjoy animals and want a less demanding pace than the Seoraksan day. The price is a range, from $66.67 to $76.19 per adult for two travelers, because the rail bike changes the total. The base option includes the Alpaca World ticket and the Nami Island ticket. The rail bike ticket is included only if you select it, and the default is a four-seat share bike. The meeting point is Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, Exit 10, or a public parking lot at Namsan Yejang, about five minutes on foot from Myeongdong Station, Exit 1. Arrive ten minutes before departure. Viator flags this tour as likely to sell out, and all 60 dates were open on our check. Its 117 reviews combine Viator and TripAdvisor, so treat the 4.91 rating as a smaller sample than the big DMZ listings.
- Alpaca World ticket
- Nami Island ticket
- Optional Gangchon rail bike

8. Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Gwangmyeong Cave
This is the lower-priced Suwon day on the list: nine hours that visit Hwaseong Fortress and Gwangmyeong Cave, with round-trip transfers from Seoul. The Myeongdong pickup is at Exit 2, in front of The North Face store, by 8:30 a.m. The Hongik University pickup is at Exit 8, in front of the Starbucks, by 8:00 a.m. The price is from $60.25 per adult for two travelers. Only 26 of its 60 dates were open on our check, fewer than most cards here, so book early if your dates are fixed. The listing’s URL also names Starfield Library, but its title does not. If the library matters to you, the Starfield day in card 3 is the safer choice. Expect a professional English guide, admissions to the attractions, and free cancellation. With 273 reviews, Viator and TripAdvisor combined, and a 4.89 rating, it is a solid pick, though it is rated below card 3.
- Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Gwangmyeong Cave stop
- Round-trip transfer and English guide

9. Nami Island, the Cable Car, and Morning Calm Garden
This tour reaches Nami Island with a cable car and a stop at the Garden of Morning Calm. The listing describes a route through Chuncheon and Gapyeong. It is also covered, with the DMZ tour in card 5, in our Nami Island and DMZ comparison, which is the place to read if you are choosing between those two. At from $109 per adult for two travelers it is the second most expensive tour in this set, after the PyeongChang day, and it lasts 9 hours. Pickup happens at three points in Seoul, and the listed meeting points are Hongik Univ. Station, Exit 3, and City Hall Station, Exit 6. The meeting time is 6:20 a.m. in peak season or 7:00 a.m. in low season, so check which applies to your date on the voucher. The per-adult price includes all fees and taxes, and the vehicle comes with a driver and an English-speaking guide. Its 4.85 rating is the lowest in this set, but it is still high, and 129 reviews combine Viator and TripAdvisor. It suits travelers who want Nami Island with a cable car and a garden stop in the same day.
- Cable car and Garden of Morning Calm
- All fees and taxes included
- Pickup at three points in Seoul

Meeting points, transit maps, and your booking confirmations all live on your phone. Connect from the arrivals hall, before the first early-morning pickup.
Get my eSIMThe classic DMZ day in card 5 has the largest review base in this set, at 52,494 reviews combined across Viator and TripAdvisor. It is the one to start with if you have never visited the border before.
Book my DMZ and JSA tourPractical Tips for Your Day Trip
Check the transfer from the airport to your hotel or meeting point before the early pickup. Our sources do not give a transfer time, so ask your hotel or the operator.
The DMZ: Passport, Age Rules, and Closures
Three DMZ tours appear in this list, and they share the same core rules. A passport is required. The name on the booking must match the passport, and operators check it on the day. Read the cancellation terms before you pay.
Age rules are the point where sources disagree. One travel guide search snippet gives 11 as the minimum age for the Joint Security Area visit. Another snippet says the DMZ has no general age limit. Because the rules depend on the operator and on the JSA visit, we do not give one number here. Check the age policy on each listing, and ask the operator directly if a child is traveling.
The Joint Security Area can close without notice for security reasons, and tours can be cancelled at short notice. All three DMZ cards in this list offer free cancellation, which gives you room to rebook if a closure or cancellation affects your date.
Getting to Suwon and Nami Island
Suwon is about 30 minutes from Seoul Station on the KTX train, according to travel-guide search snippets, or about an hour on subway line 1. Those times are from guides, not an official timetable, so confirm them before you travel if you plan to go on your own. The Suwon tours in cards 3 and 8 include transport.
For Nami Island, a travel-guide search snippet describes a shuttle bus from central Seoul to the ferry dock, which takes about 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Travel guides advise arriving at opening time, about 8 a.m., to avoid queues. We could not reach the Nami Island official site, so we could not confirm its hours or prices; check the figures on your tour page.
Budget for Two
The per-adult figures below are the lowest we measured for two travelers, so the total for a pair is double. None of the inclusion lists in these cards covers lunch, so budget for it separately.
- DMZ tours (cards 2, 4, and 5): from $100 for two adults, with a private option costing more.
- Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Gwangmyeong Cave (card 8): from $120.50 for two adults.
- Starfield Library and Hwaseong Fortress (card 3): from $138 for two adults.
- Alpacas, Nami Island, and optional rail bike (card 7): from $133.34 to $152.38 for two adults.
- Seoraksan and Nami Island (card 6): from $170.36 for two adults.
- Nami Island, cable car, and Morning Calm Garden (card 9): from $218 for two adults.
- PyeongChang filming location (card 1): from $277.94 for two adults.
Choosing by Profile
First visit to Korea: start with card 5, the classic DMZ day whose optional stops are chosen at checkout, or card 3, which pairs a library stop with Hwaseong Fortress and a cave.
Families with children: check the age policy on each DMZ listing first. The Suwon fortress day (card 8) and the Nami Island cable car day (card 9) are both 9 hours, shorter than the 14 to 16 hour Seoraksan tour.
Couples who want a personal day: the private DMZ option in card 2 gives you the most individual attention, though it costs more than the group price. Travelers who want the PyeongChang filming location should look at card 1.
Small budget: the three DMZ tours start at $50 per adult for two travelers. The Suwon fortress day (card 8) is the next cheapest, at from $60.25.
Limited mobility: the Seoraksan day (card 6) is the longest, at 14 to 16 hours. Check the walking details on the listing before you book, and ask the operator about the schedule if you need rest stops.
Season and Weather
The dates we checked run from October 30 to December 28, 2026. Check the forecast the week before you travel, and pack a warm layer for the day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which day trip from Seoul is the best value?
The three DMZ tours offer the lowest starting price in this set, from $50 per adult for two travelers. The classic DMZ day with the suspension bridge and JSA museum has the largest review base, at 52,494 reviews combined across Viator and TripAdvisor. Check the options you select at checkout, since they change what the day includes. See card 5.
Can children join the DMZ tours?
The answer depends on the operator and on the JSA visit, and our sources disagree, so we give no single age. Check the age policy on each listing before you book. If a child is traveling, ask the operator in writing whether the child can join the Joint Security Area visit, and which documents the child needs.
Do I need a passport for the DMZ?
Yes. The DMZ tours in this list require a passport, and the name on the booking must match it. Operators check it on the day, so read the cancellation terms before you pay. Our sources did not cover other identity documents, so if you hold one, ask the operator in advance whether it is accepted.
How long are the Nami Island and Seoraksan days?
The Seoraksan and Nami tour runs 14 to 16 hours, and its listing asks you to book by 2 p.m. the day before. The Nami Island cable car tour is shorter, at 9 hours. The Alpaca World day runs 12 to 13 hours with the optional rail bike. Plan a light breakfast for all three, and check the meeting time on your voucher before you set your alarm.
Can I reach Hwaseong Fortress without a tour?
Yes. Travel-guide search snippets describe a KTX train from Seoul Station to Suwon in about 30 minutes, or subway line 1 in about an hour. We did not confirm these times on an official timetable, so check them before you travel. The tours in card 3 and card 8 include transport. See card 8.
What should I book if I have only one day?
Choose a tour that takes about seven hours and fits your interests. The Starfield and fortress day in card 3 and the defector DMZ tour in card 4 both last seven hours. The DMZ tours are also the least expensive, from $50 per adult for two travelers. If you want Nami Island with a cable car and a garden stop, card 9 offers both in 9 hours.
