Scotland v Italy takes place on Saturday, February 6, 2027 at 2:10 p.m. at Murrayfield, and its tickets are not on sale yet. In the meantime, ten Viator experiences running February 5, 6 and 7 cost $21.09 to $214.26 per person for two adults. None of them gets you into the stadium.

Scotland v Italy on Saturday, February 6, 2027 is the big date of the winter rugby season in Scotland. It kicks off at 2:10 p.m. local time at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, as part of the Guinness Six Nations. I’m publishing this guide before tickets go on sale, for one simple reason: the best days around a match are planned weeks in advance.

Let’s be clear from the start. Tickets are not on sale at the date of this check, and none of the experiences in this selection gets you into the stands. So I won’t recommend any booking that claims to open the stadium for you. Instead, the ten experiences below revolve around the match: a morning visit, a tasting or an evening before or after kickoff, and an outing for Sunday if you stay longer. Since kickoff is at 2:10 p.m., each slot is meant to leave you a real margin on the way to the stadium.

To begin, I put at the top of the list the guided walking tour of Edinburgh Castle. It is rated 4.89 out of 5 by more than 5,900 travelers, lasts about 90 minutes and includes entry tickets that are already collected. It’s the one I would choose for Saturday morning, before heading to Murrayfield.

The prices quoted here come from the Viator partner API, shown per person for two adults, for the dates of February 5, 6 and 7, 2027. They may change before match weekend, and I update them when needed. I don’t use the prices shown by ticket resellers, because the official sale has not started yet and those prices vary a lot from one season to the next.

Why plan this weekend now: the Pixidia angle

The match is played at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh. For a Six Nations match, getting to the stadium takes some forethought. The schedule and ticketing information are published by the Scottish rugby federation, Scottish Rugby.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2027 at 2:10 p.m. local time. In February, Edinburgh is on London time (GMT), so kickoff is at 3:10 p.m. in Paris. From the Haymarket neighborhood, route guides suggest about 15 to 20 minutes on foot to the stadium, to be reconfirmed. According to match guides, the tram serves Murrayfield from the airport in about twenty minutes: reconfirm that time before you block out your morning.

Weather is the second thing to plan for. In February, the average temperature is around 6 °C (43 °F), with roughly 47 to 70 mm of rain (about 1.9 to 2.8 inches) according to online historical data, and daylight lasts about 9 to 10 hours early in the month. Historical records available online, such as Weather Spark or Avionero, give a similar range (Weather Spark only covers a single year). In practice, that means packing a waterproof jacket and booking covered visits, like the Royal Yacht Britannia, for the wettest slots.

For match day, a route guide places the walk-in point at Haymarket, about 15 to 20 minutes from the stadium, to be reconfirmed before you book. If you want to extend your trip into the Highlands, the guide to the Scottish road trip through the Highlands and castles gives the same distance and driving-time markers.

Last, a word on the most common confusion. Many sites promise a “match and hotel package” or “guaranteed access” to the stadium. Before you pay, ask who is selling the ticket, at what price compared with the official face value, and whether the seller is identified. Third-party resellers post prices that rise and fall with demand: some sit above the official price, others at face value. None of the excursions on this list includes a match ticket.

If you only have Saturday morning, take the castle. If you want a Friday evening, choose the Darkside tour or the pub tour. On a tight budget, the Harry Potter tour remains the most affordable option on the list. And if your weekend stretches into Sunday, St Andrews or Loch Ness go further than the city.

The 10 experiences to book around the February 6 match

Edinburgh Castle perched on its rock above the Old Town

1. Edinburgh Castle: guided walking tour with pre-collected tickets

Rating 4.89 (5907 reviews) 1 h 30 $53.06 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

I’d start Saturday with the castle, because it dominates the Old Town and you can visit it without losing an hour at the ticket window. This guided walking tour lasts about 90 minutes and includes entry tickets that are already collected, which skips the ticket queue. The guide explains the rock the city was built on, which gives meaning to the walls you can see from the street. The weak point is timing: count the 90 minutes, plus the trip to Murrayfield, and keep at least an hour of margin before kickoff. Opening hours listed on the castle’s site are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4 p.m., and the Western Defences stay closed until March 31: reconfirm them before you book. If you only do one visit during your stay, make it this one.

  • Entry tickets already collected, no wait at the ticket window
  • About 90 minutes with a local guide
  • Instant confirmation and free cancellation

2. Royal Yacht Britannia: the last royal yacht moored at Leith

Rating 4.79 (1962 reviews) 2 h $34.01 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

The Britannia is off the usual path, and that is what makes it useful on a match weekend. It is the last British royal yacht, now moored in the port of Leith. The visit takes place indoors, which matters when February rain shows up, and the free audio guide, available in 36 languages, lets you go at your own pace. I’d put it on Saturday morning, before the match, or on Sunday if the weather turns. The meeting point is at Ocean Terminal, Ocean Drive, EH6 6JJ. Indicative hours run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 3 p.m.: reconfirm them on the Viator listing and on the ship’s website before you book.

3. Harry Potter locations: the walking tour starting at the National Museum

Rating 4.89 (4703 reviews) 2 h $21.09 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

This is the most affordable outing on the list, and a good answer if you are discovering Edinburgh for the first time. It starts at the William Chambers monument, next to the National Museum, then follows the places tied to the saga and to its author in the historic center. It lasts about two hours, which leaves room before or after the match. The catch is expecting a film-set tour: it is mostly a city walk that links the historic center to the author of the saga. The cobblestones get slippery when it is cold and damp, so wear shoes with suitable soles. I’d book it for Friday, on arrival, when you want to get a feel for the city without effort.

  • Starts at the National Museum, in the center
  • About two hours on foot

4. Johnnie Walker Experience: a tasting trail on Princes Street

Rating 4.96 (1640 reviews) 1 h 30 $34.01 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

This is the only whisky experience in the selection, and I kept it for that reason: it avoids repeating beer tastings and leaves room for a different kind of moment. The trail lasts 90 minutes at 145 Princes Street (hours listed as 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. depending on the trail, to be reconfirmed), with a flavor quiz and access to the “Journey of Flavour” trail. With more than 1,600 reviews and a 4.96 rating out of 5, it is the best rated of the ten. The constraint is the drink itself: it is an alcoholic experience, so book it only if you are not driving and if your next day allows it. I’d schedule it late on Friday afternoon, to keep Saturday free for the match. For tastings and other options, my guide to whisky tours in Edinburgh covers the alternatives.

5. Food tour: five Scottish tastings in three hours

Rating 4.92 (1412 reviews) 3 h $132.23 per adult (base of 2) Manual confirmation Available all 3 days

It is the second-highest price on the list, after the private tour. The tour starts in front of the west façade of St Giles’ Cathedral, and the guide has you taste five products: haggis, neeps and tatties, Scottish cakes and cheeses, a Lowlands single malt, then tea or water. Two points matter before you book. First, confirmation is not instant: the reply comes in by hand, so book early if this slot interests you. Second, three hours fit poorly on a Saturday, because you need to keep enough time to reach Murrayfield without rushing. I’d put it on Friday evening or Sunday, when you don’t have a 2:10 p.m. appointment on your mind. It is also a good way to discover Scottish cooking before trying it in a pub after the match.

  • Five tastings in three hours
  • Local food guide

6. Pubs and craft beer: the Old Town walking tour

Rating 4.92 (313 reviews) 2 h $61.22 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

It brings a real change of pace away from the stadium. It lasts about two hours and mixes craft beer tastings in historic pubs with the story of beer and of these places. The meeting point is at 26 St Giles’ Street, in the Old Town, a short walk from the cathedral. I wouldn’t book it on Saturday before the match: two hours leave no margin before the 2:10 p.m. kickoff. Ideally, schedule it for Friday evening or for Saturday after the match. Book as soon as your dates are set.

  • Pub guide included, digital or printed

7. Darkside: the ghost tour that goes down into the vaults

Rating 4.77 (3939 reviews) 2 h $31.97 per adult (base of 2) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

The dark side of Edinburgh is less known to visitors, but it complements a daytime visit to the castle well. This two-hour walking tour starts at 130 High Street, at the corner of Stevenlaw’s Close, and tells the story of public executions, legends and the vaults of the Old Town. With more than 3,900 reviews, it is one of the most proven products in the selection. I’d schedule it for Friday evening, on arrival: it is an effective way to get a feel for the city before the weekend. It is only worth it if the nighttime atmosphere appeals to you, because the walk goes through narrow alleys and daylight lasts only 9 to 10 hours in early February.

8. Private walking tour: three and a half hours with a guide for your group only

Rating 4.94 (285 reviews) 3 h 30 $214.26 per person ($428.53 for two) Instant confirmation Available all 3 days

This option suits a small group that wants to avoid queues and set its own pace. The guide stays with you alone for about three and a half hours, and the meeting point is at the central entrance of Usher Hall. It is by far the highest price on the list: $214.26 per person, or $428.53 for two adults. Read it as the price of a private service, not as an entry ticket. The half day fits best on Friday or Sunday, since it takes up a large part of the day. If you travel with children who don’t cope well with queues, or you want a flexible program, it is a real option. On a small budget, the other tours on this list do the job better.

9. St Andrews and the Fife fishing villages: a day trip out of town

Rating 4.73 (2255 reviews) 8 h 30 $83.86 per adult (base of 2) Manual confirmation Available all 3 days

If you stay on Sunday, St Andrews is my favorite outing on this list. You’ll see the golf town, the ruins of a castle swept by the wind, and the fishing villages of Fife. The day lasts 8 h 30, with a group capped at 16 people in a premium minibus with a driver-guide. The meeting point is the Edinburgh bus station, gates J and K, at St Andrew Square, and confirmation is not instant. It is therefore not an option for Saturday, when you need to be at Murrayfield on time. On the other hand, it works very well the day after the match, if the weather allows. Pack a windproof layer, because the Fife coast is exposed.

10. Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands: the big Sunday day trip

Rating 4.76 (4502 reviews) 12 h $93.87 per adult (base of 2) Availability check possible Available all 3 days

This is the longest outing on the list: twelve hours between Loch Ness and Glencoe, leaving from central Edinburgh. The meeting point is at 60 High Street, on the Royal Mile, for a 7:30 a.m. departure, and the day does not wrap up until the evening. It leaves no room on Saturday, so I’d book it for Sunday, February 7, and keep Saturday for the match. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the guide speaks English, which keeps the trip comfortable. Twelve hours of driving and sightseeing do take solid energy, and you have to accept a long day on the road. Confirmation is instant and then manual, with a possible check: wait for the validation before you block the rest of your weekend. If you prefer a shorter day, St Andrews lasts 8 h 30.

  • Departure at 7:30 a.m., return in the evening

Schedule, transport and pitfalls for the weekend

A possible schedule. On Friday, February 5, arrive early if you can, then book the Harry Potter or Darkside tour for the evening. On Saturday, February 6, take the castle in the morning, at a slot to be confirmed on the listing, allowing about 90 minutes. Then head to Murrayfield with at least an hour of margin. The match kicks off at 2:10 p.m. local time. In the evening, the pub tour or a dinner in the Old Town takes over. On Sunday, February 7, choose between Loch Ness, a twelve-hour outing, and St Andrews, a gentler 8 h 30 day. If you don’t enjoy long days, the private tour is a third option, to fit in on Sunday afternoon.

The trip from the airport to the stadium. According to match guides, the tram links the airport to Murrayfield in about twenty minutes, to be reconfirmed. One third-party match guide mentions a fan walk to the stadium: check it as you approach the match, since it is third-party information. The luggage advice I found dates from 2019: don’t treat it as current rules, and check the operator’s site before you arrive with a large suitcase. Also plan for the tram queue after the match.

Match tickets. Tickets are not on sale at the date of this check, and the on-sale date has not been announced yet: it falls later in the year. A presale is planned for Scotland Supporters Club members, according to the federation: check its site. I don’t have a reliable price for match-and-hotel packages, so I don’t quote them. Without a ticket, the weekend stays full outside the stadium. Don’t pay anything before you have verified the seller on the official site. Some blogs offer match-and-hotel packages: compare them with the official ticket price once it is on sale, and don’t let urgency guide you.

For a family. The castle (about 90 minutes, pre-collected tickets) and the Royal Yacht Britannia are the simplest visits to fit in with children. The Darkside tour tells the story of public executions in a nighttime atmosphere.

On a small budget. The Harry Potter tour at $21.09 per person and the Darkside tour at $31.97 remain the most accessible. The castle and the Britannia fall in the mid-range. Avoid packages that add accommodation to a match ticket, because that is where the budget gets out of hand.

For a first visit. Save the castle for Saturday morning, and make only one trip outside the city during your stay. Loch Ness or St Andrews are good choices, but one is enough. For the rest of the time, let the city guide you.

What to avoid. Three mistakes come up often. The first is scheduling a long outing on Saturday, which gets you to the stadium tired. The second is booking a visit without checking the winter hours. The third is trusting a listing without looking at its confirmation mode: manual confirmations require a wait for a reply before you lock in the rest of the weekend.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy a Scotland v Italy match ticket through Viator?

No. None of the experiences in this selection gets you into Murrayfield, so I don’t link to any match ticket. Official tickets are sold by the Scottish rugby federation, Scottish Rugby, once sales open. Third-party resellers post prices that vary widely with demand, sometimes above face value, sometimes at face value. Compare before you buy, and check the identity of the seller.

When will the match tickets go on sale?

The on-sale date had not been announced at the date of this check, October 25, 2026: it falls later in the year. A presale is planned for Scotland Supporters Club members, according to the federation. Scottish Rugby publishes the schedule and the sales terms on its official site. Follow the federation’s announcements, and only trust official sites for payment. If an offer looks too good to be true, it is probably a resale.

Which experience should you book for the morning of the match?

Edinburgh Castle, with a visit of about 90 minutes and tickets already collected, remains the simplest choice. The Royal Yacht Britannia, a two-hour visit, is a sheltered alternative. Keep at least an hour of margin before the 2:10 p.m. local kickoff for the trip to Murrayfield. Reconfirm the hours on the official sites before you book.

How much do the experiences cost for two people?

Prices checked for two adults range from $21.09 per person for the Harry Potter tour to $214.26 per person for the private walking tour. Prices in this selection are shown per person, based on two travelers, for the dates of February 5, 6 and 7, 2027. They may vary by then, so check the final price when you book.

Should you book early?

Yes, especially for the experiences with manual confirmation, like the food tour and the St Andrews trip, where the reply does not come right away. The Loch Ness day is instant and then manual, with a possible check. Instant-confirmation visits are more flexible to book. Book as soon as your dates are set.

What is the weather like in Edinburgh in February?

On average, the temperature is around 6 °C (43 °F) in February, with about 47 to 70 mm of rain (roughly 1.9 to 2.8 inches) according to online historical data. Daylight lasts about 9 to 10 hours. Pack a waterproof jacket and sturdy shoes, and keep covered visits, like the Britannia, for the wettest afternoons.

Can you do Loch Ness on Sunday after the match?

Yes, the twelve-hour day leaves at 7:30 a.m. from the High Street and returns in the evening. Its confirmation is instant and then manual, with a possible check: wait for the validation before you lock in the rest of the weekend. If you prefer a shorter day, St Andrews lasts 8 h 30 and covers a very different coastal landscape.
