From 1 December 2026, THAI operates two daily flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Bangkok, up from one today. The afternoon flight stays on a Boeing 777, while the new one flies a Boeing 787. The journey takes about 11 hours 15 to 11 hours 30. Winter timetables are not yet confirmed by the airline.
Checked on against the official sources cited in this article (the THAI website was not accessible on that date).
For a traveller leaving from Paris, a second daily flight does more than add a departure. It gives you another time slot, opens more connection options in Bangkok, and can affect the fare. The news comes at a difficult moment, though: flooding, cancellations and delayed bags marked the end of September 2026. This guide separates what is confirmed, what still needs checking, and what to do before you book. It covers departures from Paris Charles de Gaulle only, so if you are flying from the UK, the times below will not apply to you.
1. What changes on 1 December 2026

A second daily flight and a new aircraft
THAI Airways, Thailand’s national carrier and a Star Alliance member, goes from one to two daily flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. The announcement came from the airline’s Europe director, Arnuphap Kittikul, in an interview published by Voyages d’Affaires on 22 September 2026. The afternoon flight stays on a Boeing 777. The new flight is operated by a Boeing 787, according to the same interview and TravelMole (9 July 2026).
On the network, the arithmetic is simple: seven weekly flights become fourteen, a figure relayed by Ulysse. The timeline is short: a TravelMole article of 9 July 2026 on increased frequencies to Europe, the winter season from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027, then the second daily flight from 1 December. Air France also operates a direct link between the two capitals, according to Partir.com, but its 2026-2027 winter schedule was not confirmed in the sources we checked.
The gain for you is first of all choice of departure time: an afternoon or evening departure, depending on the flight you pick.
Premium Economy is not yet in service. The Europe director says no equipped aircraft is available at present, and the launch is planned for 2027.
Key points
- Two daily flights from 1 December 2026, up from one today.
- Boeing 787 for the new flight, Boeing 777 for the afternoon one.
- Winter timetables to be confirmed with the airline before you buy.
An arrival around 6 am calls for a well-planned first day. If you want to start with an activity in the city, this Thai cooking class with a market visit is better booked for the day after you land.
2. What are the flight numbers and times?

Several times for the same flight, depending on the source
The most sensitive point in this file is the departure time. Real-time tracking of flight TG931, published by Trip.com on 18 October 2026, shows a departure from Paris Charles de Gaulle at 1:40 pm and an arrival in Bangkok at 5:55 am the next day, for 11 hours 15 of flying. The same page also shows an arrival at 5:22 am in another block. This inconsistency is a reason to check the timing on your ticket.
For the winter season, Ulysse gives a 12:30 pm departure for TG931 from 25 October 2026. This pair of times, with an arrival around 6 am, is also repeated by a flight data site, but that site is not an independent second source: the same pair appears in a 2021 flight notice. THAI had not confirmed it at the check date, so treat it as indicative.
The new evening flight is expected to be TG933: departing Paris at 9:20 pm, arriving in Bangkok at 2:40 pm the next day. Ulysse is the only source for these times, and no second source matches them at the check date. The return flight of the new schedule, TG932, leaves Bangkok at 12:15 pm and arrives in Paris at 7:00 pm according to Ulysse, or at 7:20 pm according to a programme sheet found in an earlier search, which we did not reopen for this article. The 20-minute gap is not settled. These times are therefore indicative: at booking, the schedule shown by the airline is the one that counts.
| Flight | Direction | Departs | Arrives | Period | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TG931 | Paris to Bangkok | 1:40 pm | 5:55 am (next day) | until 24 October 2026 | Tracked on 18 October, not confirmed by THAI |
| TG931 | Paris to Bangkok | 12:30 pm | 6:00 am (next day) | from 25 October 2026 | To be confirmed, not confirmed by THAI |
| TG933 | Paris to Bangkok | 9:20 pm | 2:40 pm (next day) | from 1 December 2026 | Single source (Ulysse), indicative, not confirmed by THAI |
| TG932 | Bangkok to Paris | 12:15 pm | 7:00 pm or 7:20 pm | from 1 December 2026 | 20-minute gap, not confirmed by THAI |
| TG930 | Bangkok to Paris | 12:05 am | 6:50 am (summer) or 7:10 am (winter) | not specified | From an earlier search, not rechecked on 18 October |
Source: Trip.com, TG931 flight status and Ulysse, checked on 18 October 2026. The TG932 programme sheet comes from an earlier search, not reopened for this article. All times are Paris local time.
Paris-CDG terminal: not yet confirmed
The TG931 tracking shows Terminal 1. Neither ADP, the airport operator, nor THAI has confirmed this terminal at the check date. Check it on your ticket before you leave. A specialist article also reports that the terminal numbering at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle will change in March 2027, according to Ulysse. A renumbering could therefore happen during your trip if you book early.
3. Flight time and time difference

Between 11 hours 15 and 13 hours 05 in the air, depending on direction and timetable
From Paris to Bangkok, the TG931 tracking for 18 October 2026 shows 11 hours 15 of flying time, and Partir.com gives an average of 11 hours 20. In the other direction, Liligo gives an average of about 12 hours 45. A calculation from the known timetable gives between 11 hours 45 and 13 hours 05, depending on whether you take the summer or the winter schedule, so we show a range rather than a single figure.
Thailand stays on UTC+7 all year and does not change its clocks. For Paris, the gap is 5 hours until 24 October 2026 inclusive, then 6 hours from 25 October. For London, it is 6 hours until the clocks go back on 25 October, then 7 hours, because the UK and France change their clocks on the same day. Times in this guide are Paris local time, so a 1:40 pm departure from Paris lands at 5:55 am the next day in Bangkok: the flight crosses the night and you arrive in the early morning, before dawn.
What this means in practice
- An arrival around 6 am means organising your airport transfer before dawn.
- Early check-in at your hotel, or a night booked the day before, avoids waiting in the lobby.
- The 6-hour gap (7 from London after 25 October) is felt from the first morning: plan a light first day.
4. Entry formalities: visa, TDAC, passport and insurance

A 30-day visa-free stay, with a caveat on entries
Since 15 September 2026, travellers who enter Thailand under the visa exemption scheme can stay up to 30 days for tourism, according to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). VisasNews, which reported the change on 14 September 2026, puts the list at 60 countries and territories. An extension of 30 days can be requested in Thailand, subject to immigration approval. The FCDO says that entries before 15 September keep the period granted on arrival, so the 60-day rule that some guides still quote only applies to those earlier entries. For the full picture of the visa-free stay, see our guide for UK travellers.
The FCDO says the limit of two visa-exempt tourist entries per calendar year normally applies to land-border arrivals, and that it « does not generally apply to arrivals by air ». The French Foreign Ministry’s advice, by contrast, reads the limit as covering every mode of entry. VisasNews and the law firm Fragomen, whose note we could not read directly, also limit it to land entries, and analyses from EY and Freaking Nomads point the same way. If your itinerary includes a land crossing, read our article on the Thailand-Cambodia border as well.
The sources do not settle the point beyond that, and the Royal Gazette text published on 31 August 2026 could not be read directly for this file. Do not assume the cap cannot affect you. Check the current text before you fly.
| Item | Rule | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visa-free stay | 30 days maximum, tourism only, from 15 September 2026 | FCDO; VisasNews | Confirmed by two sources |
| Visa-exempt entries per calendar year | Two. Land-border arrivals according to the FCDO, which says it does not generally apply to air arrivals; all modes according to the French Foreign Ministry | FCDO; France Diplomatie; VisasNews | Sources diverge: check before you fly |
| Extension | 30 days, requested in Thailand, subject to approval | VisasNews | Indicative |
| TDAC | Compulsory for all foreign nationals, free, completed online up to three days before arrival, in force since 1 May 2025 | FCDO (rule and date); Thai embassy in Buenos Aires (free) | Official sources; the TDAC site itself was not read |
| Insurance | Recommended for the full stay, not compulsory to enter today | France Diplomatie; Executive Traveller | A compulsory accident cover for foreigners is under discussion |
| Passport | Valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date | FCDO | Confirmed by the FCDO |
Source: UK FCDO, Thailand entry requirements; French Foreign Ministry, Thailand; VisasNews; Thai embassy in Buenos Aires, checked on 18 October 2026.
TDAC: the digital arrival card to complete before you land
The TDAC is compulsory for all foreign nationals, whatever your mode of arrival. The FCDO says it has applied since 1 May 2025 and must be completed online before arrival, up to three days ahead. The card is free on the official site, tdac.immigration.go.th, and the Thai embassy in Buenos Aires gives the same start date. Some guides give another date: we use the one that both official sources give.
The official site could not be read at the check date, as the page was empty. Check it directly. Be wary of paid sites that present themselves as official: the card itself costs nothing.
Passport and insurance: a six-month rule, and a recommendation
Several guides say your passport must be valid for six months. This time the FCDO confirms it: your passport must be valid for at least six months after your arrival date. Check the expiry date before you book, and renew the passport first if it falls inside that window.
France Diplomatie recommends insurance covering the whole stay. A compulsory accident insurance for foreigners is under discussion, with no adoption date confirmed at the check date, according to Executive Traveller. For now, then, it is a recommendation rather than a requirement.
5. Fares: a dated range, not a single price

Between €730 and €1,002 return, depending on the comparison site
Comparison sites show roughly €730 to €1,002 return for December and nearby dates, and most of these prices are undated. December is usually the most expensive month, according to comparison sites that cite Monde du Voyage (page not read). These figures are snapshots: a price shown at one moment can change the same day. Prices are in euros, as each site displayed them on the date given. We have not converted them into pounds, because fares move daily.
One correction to make along the way: Kayak states that Thai Airways does not operate a direct flight on this route. That is wrong: the route is direct, as the flight tracking and Partir.com both confirm. Don’t use that comparison to rule out a direct flight.
| Source | Price found | Dates or update | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Partir.com | €985 average | Updated 20 September 2026 | Direct flight |
| Kayak | €994 average | Undated | Comparison site |
| Liligo | €888 | Departures 1 to 14 December, undated | Direct flight |
| Vietnam Airlines (via an aggregator) | €788 | Departures 4 to 14 December, cached result, undated | Aggregator, economy |
| EVA Air (via an aggregator) | €1,002 | Departures 18 November to 21 December, cached result, undated | Aggregator, economy |
| Liligo, earlier search | €734 average | 72-hour average, not rechecked | Direct flight |
| THAI promotional page | From €893 | Late October and November 2026, undated | Economy |
Source: Partir.com, Kayak and Liligo, checked on 18 October 2026. The Vietnam Airlines and EVA Air prices come from aggregators and are cached. The THAI promotional page was found through a search result.
Budget beyond the ticket
- Departure tax: a rise from 730 to 1,120 baht was announced for 20 June 2026, according to one secondary source. To be confirmed.
- Connectivity on arrival: price points in section 7.
- Funds to show: random checks can ask for around 20,000 baht per person, according to one secondary source. Keep proof of your funds.
6. Baggage: the « piece concept » policy

One 23 kg bag on most fares
THAI has applied a « piece concept » policy since 2 March 2026 on flights between Europe and Thailand. In economy, one 23 kg checked bag is included in Standard, Saver and Redeem fares. Flex and Full Flex fares include two 23 kg bags. Each piece must not exceed 158 cm.
This rule appears in a company announcement of 25 November 2025 and on THAI’s baggage policy page. We could not open that page on the airline’s site: we found it through a search result, which is why we flag it. Older pages still mention a weight-based rule. If your ticket shows a different limit, the ticket prevails.
| Fare | Checked baggage | Maximum size per piece |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 bag of 23 kg | 158 cm |
| Saver | 1 bag of 23 kg | 158 cm |
| Redeem | 1 bag of 23 kg | 158 cm |
| Flex | 2 bags of 23 kg | 158 cm |
| Full Flex | 2 bags of 23 kg | 158 cm |
Source: THAI, « piece concept » policy (page found through a search result, the airline’s site not opened), checked on 18 October 2026.
Before you leave
- Weigh your bag: the limit is 23 kg per piece, not a total weight per traveller.
- Measure it: 158 cm maximum for each piece.
- Keep medicines and valuables in your hand luggage, in case the hold bag is delayed.
7. At Suvarnabhumi: connections, transfers and mobile data

A connection of at least 90 minutes, 120 recommended
All THAI Paris-Bangkok flights land at Suvarnabhumi. For an international connection, the airport operator, Airports of Thailand, gives a minimum of about 90 minutes and recommends 120 minutes, according to its transport page. THAI’s connection desks have been temporarily moved to Concourse E, on the second floor, since 20 July 2026, during works, according to the JAL transit guide. Check this on site.
If your itinerary involves changing airports in Bangkok, for example to Don Mueang, you leave the airport area. A transit visa is then required beyond 24 hours, or if you leave the transit area, according to the Thai embassy in Mexico. A simple connection at Suvarnabhumi does not raise that question.
Getting into the city
- Airport Rail Link: 45 baht to Phaya Thai, in about thirty minutes, according to the sources we consulted, which show an unchanged 2026 fare.
- Metered taxi: between 250 and 500 baht, plus a 50 baht airport surcharge and tolls.
- Grab: around 350 to 500 baht, according to the sources we consulted.
- Private transfer booked in advance: 800 to 1,500 baht according to one source, not checked with the provider.
These figures are rough guides. Check them on the day, because taxi and ride-hailing fares change. For your first arrival, a transfer you have paid for in advance is the simplest choice.
Mobile data: eSIM or SIM card
An eSIM gives you data as soon as you land, without queuing at a counter. A comparison published in August 2026 lists Airalo plans from US$4 for 1 GB over 3 days. Check that figure on the provider’s site before you buy.
A physical SIM is still an option. One source lists AIS SIM cards at 299 to 599 baht at 7-Eleven, and about 1,199 baht for 30 days at the airport. SIM registration has been tightened since 2025, which can lengthen the queue at the counter.
8. Late September 2026 disruption: what to know

Flooding, ground staff shortages and cancellations
Flooding in Bangkok, from 26 to 29 September 2026, disrupted traffic. The Ministry of Transport said Suvarnabhumi stayed open. THAI, however, ran short of ground staff. Thai Examiner describes 200 to 300 people missing out of a workforce of 500 at the height of the crisis. A later source reports that 90% of ground staff have returned.
The airline cancelled 15 flights on 1 October and 9 on 2 October 2026, according to Thai Examiner. Pattaya Mail lists TG930 among the flights cancelled on 1 October. We did not find TG931 among the cancellations. The full schedule resumed on 3 October, according to the sources we consulted.
Baggage was the most visible problem: around 10,000 delayed bags according to Thai Examiner, 5,600 according to Aerocorner, and 1,092 still to be processed on 4 October according to The Nation. No source dated after 4 October confirms that the backlog is fully cleared.
On 2 October the board dismissed chief executive Chai Eamsiri. Samrit Samniang took over as interim chief executive with immediate effect. Two internal inquiries are open, one into ground operations and one into cargo and procurement, according to Thai Examiner.
The second-flight announcement came before these events. We found no source that challenges it as of the check date. These events are a reason, however, to follow your flight status more closely and keep your paperwork.
9. Which flight suits which traveller?

Families: an early-morning arrival
With children, the arrival time is the main consideration. An arrival around 6 am means booking a room that is ready early, or somewhere the children can sleep before the first visits, and a transfer arranged in advance.
Tight budget: widen your dates
For the price, compare dates in November, late October and December. December is usually the most expensive month, but the fares we noted do not follow a single pattern from one comparison site to another. A THAI promotional fare with no update date should be checked at the time of purchase.
December: dry season and fine particle pollution
In December the weather is dry. A French climate data source gives roughly 28 to 32 °C during the day and 22 to 25 °C at night. The dry season, from December to April, also favours a build-up of fine particles (PM2.5), from agricultural burning in the region and from traffic. Check the PM2.5 readings from the Gistda agency before you leave, and pack an FFP2 mask for high-pollution days. We did not consult these readings directly.
First trip: arriving calmly
On a first trip, keep your passport within reach in your hand luggage, and submit the TDAC within three days before arrival (see section 4).
Business traveller: choose by departure time
On the new Boeing 787 flight, the business cabin is a fully flat, fully convertible bed, according to THAI’s Europe director (Voyages d’Affaires, 22 September 2026). The number of seats per cabin has not been confirmed by the airline. For business travel, choose the flight that fits your meeting time, the afternoon departure (Boeing 777) or the evening one (Boeing 787), and check the aircraft type on your ticket.
10. Mistakes to avoid

The most common pitfalls
These mistakes come from the guides, comparison sites and AI summaries we read. No forum thread on this route turned up at the check date. Each one can cost part of your trip, and all of them can be fixed before you leave.
- Assuming the visa-free stay is still 60 days: it has been 30 days since 15 September 2026.
- Booking on the strength of a winter timetable the airline has not confirmed.
- Paying for the TDAC on a site that is not the official one: the card is free.
- Counting on a weight limit: the current policy works per piece, with 23 kg and 158 cm.
- Planning a tight connection in Bangkok: 90 minutes is the minimum, 120 minutes is recommended.
- Ignoring the early-October disruption, which can complicate a departure or a connection.
What other guides don’t tell you
Guides and comparison sites don’t all say the same thing about this route. The six points below rest on official sources and specialist press, checked on 18 October 2026.
- The visa-free stay has been 30 days since 15 September 2026, not 60. Some guides and summaries still quote 60 days. UK FCDO, Thailand entry requirements (checked 18 October 2026).
- The new flight is operated by a Boeing 787, the afternoon flight stays on a 777. Voyages d’Affaires, interview of 22 September 2026 (checked 18 October 2026).
- Timetables change with the season. TG931 departs at 1:40 pm until 24 October 2026, then at 12:30 pm according to Ulysse, a time THAI has not confirmed. The 18 October tracking shows 1:40 pm. Times are Paris local time. Trip.com (checked 18 October 2026).
- Cancellations and a change of leadership came in early October 2026. THAI cancelled 15 flights on 1 October and 9 on 2 October, and Samrit Samniang was named interim chief executive on 2 October. None of the guides we consulted mention it. Thai Examiner (checked 18 October 2026).
- The « piece concept » baggage policy has applied since 2 March 2026. One 23 kg bag in Standard, Saver and Redeem, two in Flex and Full Flex, 158 cm per piece. Some pages still describe a weight-based rule. THAI, piece concept policy (page found through a search result, checked 18 October 2026).
- Premium Economy: no equipped aircraft yet. The launch is planned for 2027. Voyages d’Affaires (checked 18 October 2026).
Before you go: eSIM and insurance
Data from the moment you land, without a queue at a counter. Plans vary by volume and duration: check the price on the provider’s site.
Price depends on the planInsurance is not compulsory to enter Thailand today, according to the sources we checked, but hospital stays and repatriation can be costly abroad. Cover for the whole stay is a sensible precaution.
